When I run exiftool on the photo it shows the same coordinates that Google Maps shows via OurDoings: +41° 4' 54.12", -73° 35' 0.61". There's a different set of coordinates on Flickr: 41°4'51"N, 73°34'49"W. I'll look into it more.

I dug around on the server and found the original untouched photo.jpg to confirm the coordinates. They were the same as OurDoings. I don't understand how Flickr can get the geocoding perfect when photo.jpg doesn't have perfect coordinates.

no idea bruce - flickr is correct and from a qa perspective i do know where I was via human "sense of direction" geocoding ;)

from iPhone
Flickr has the full-size version, and its exif GPS is different from the lower-resolution version emailed to OurDoings. Here's the next experiment: Use a non-email upload to OurDoings (Dropbox or pixelpipe) and email the photo to Flickr.

Actually, I went ahead and downloaded the full-size version from Flickr and uploaded it to http://ourdoings.com/tobedel... where the map shows the same as what Flickr shows. Stupid iPhone. How much smaller does it really make the file to reduce the precision of the latitude/longitude?

If you want good geocoding straight from the iPhone today, I'd recommend pixelpipe, though ping.fm will work too. Soon Dropbox will be an option: http://friendfeed.com/brlewis...
