"My gripe with this giveaway is that the majority of the free cash will end up as profit to German and Japanese corporations. What is the point, I ask you? And I drive a 1983 vehicle that is a prime candidate for upgrading. But do you think I could ever find an American-made van that is better than my old VW Vanagon? Not a chance. Why the Americans cannot make a decent van I will tell you. They have been seduced by excessive preoccupation with styling, luxury, performance and the demands of Big Oil. That's why. Give me a USA manufactured union made mechanically simple biodiesel powered van and I will buy it. Simple."

"The REAL story, and what you will never read in any publication, is that ethnic Persians are finally revolting against Arab invaders. You may read comments about "Theocracy", but this is a euphemism for "Islamic Arab Dictatorship". For proof, listen to the rioters as they speak, it is not Arabic but Persian (called farsi or parsi by the unscholarly). The Persians have always been a peaceful tolerant people, but in Jimmy Carter's Islamic Revolution of 1979, Islamic Arabs seized power. It is a classic case of the timid being dominated by the violent."

Considering attending the Rainbow Gathering next month near Santa Fe.
"Colorado has a state law that prohibits out-of-state corporations from selling alcoholic beverages at more than one location. The law works well, Colorado still has many small local liquor stores and has not been taken over by giant distribution chains. It is both advantageous to the communities AND perfectly legal. There is no reason the same kind of law cannot be enacted for media outlets inside New Mexico, or any other state. Of course, it wouldn't hurt if the Federales endorsed such a policy."

"But more effective than the Fairness Doctrine, which is already a good idea, would be to break up multistate ownership of mass media. AKA "monopolies", remember that word? That means that Citadel, which owns KKOB, would be sold off to a local business which would be much more likely to broadcast local shows in the community interest. Along with the Fairness Doctrine, these two changes would radically improve radio programming across the board."

Lots of helicopters over Santa Fe. Rescue, military, hospital. There was a helicopter crash in the mountains from our overnight storm.
