Po boys for dinner in NOLA. Shrimp w/ fried green maters, and pulled pork w/ coleslaw. Turkey? Who needs turkey?
@Mahhtha re:"it's a small, small library world." Yes! I randomly met a lib-to-be this week while shopping. She lives in Tulsa & goes to SJSU
@mrlindner Me, too! It's been a crazy week. Hope your weekend is exactly what you want it to be!

Friends shouldn't give friends earbugs. Today's mix: Friday I'm in Love; Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer; Ride of the Valkyries. Urgh.

It's good to be paranoid. Thought I had something all figured out in regard to moving some journals from one target to another in SFX, but printed the list out before deactivating just in case. Turns out I'm gonna have to go back and reactivate ~20 in the original target because they're not in the new target after all. Spot checking for the FAIL.
@librainiac That's why I often wear shorts under my skirts! Severely disappointed a group of old guys once. ;-)
@mrlindner Was that a green tea? I've run into a few that I thought had a fishy taste. Ok when eating sushi, otherwise unappealing.
@mrlindner Heh. Kelp would definitely be a rude awakening when expecting/wanting fruit.
@Mahhtha Can you repost that Chronicle article link? It doesn't work. Thanks!
@Sarah_M_Ford If the pay's enough to compensate for the time/effort/hassle, then yes. Or if resume-builder. Or just bored. Otherwise, no.
@Mahhtha Nevermind! Backtracked and found it. And yeah, that's disturbing. But not, in my experience, the norm.
@mrlindner Um, because Okies are too smart to get roped into doing such work? ;-) And what's a premium list, anyway?
Hoping today's second phone interviewee is as high-energy as the first, cuz I'm hitting the afternoon sleepies.
In case you haven't heard it yet, there was an interesting interview with Robert Trujillo, the head of Special Collections at Stanford, on New Dimensions last week: http://www.newdimensions.org/flagshi... (free to listen through 11.25.09)
Today is Oklahoma statehood day (1907. we're just a baby!)
@librarienne Glacier is my absolutely favourite place. I hope you enjoy the trip through!

Sometimes, you just have to jump on in--getting your feet wet isn't enough. Oh, and it's a swimming pool, people; there are no sharks.
there are sharks in the deep end, that is why I was such a fast swimmer - RAPatton
Not including circulation and reference, who staffs your service points (if you have any others)? Our Periodicals desk is handled by full-time staff and students, while Gov Docs is split between students, full-time staff, and librarians.
We have a tech support desk that's staffed by students. They're employed by campus IT, not the library. - Jàson Puçkett
RT @grrb Everywhere I go has a TV blaring in the background. Do we really need this much distraction? Signed, Grumpy (No, we do not!)
Wonder how much $ publishers would save if they'd weed duplicates out of their direct-mail systems. Just got 3 of same thing from one pub.
I remember one company that offered a discount code if you told them about duplicates you were receiving. I think it was Sharper Image. - Michael R. Bernstein
In 1911 in OKC both record high and record low were set for today: 83 and 17. File under: things learned when weather radio is alarm clock.
Finally back at my desk after two hours of meetings. At a loss as to what to do next--too many options.
Overly warm in library today. About to head to hiring committee meeting.
