Note to self: Don't 'friend' your boss on FB and then bitch about your job.

Owned. - Johnny
El. Oh. El. You gotta be some sort of stupid to friend your boss before your probation period is up. Fired in front of friends and family? PRICELESS. - Admiral Anika
She's a f*ing idiot. A similar thing happened to a friend of mine at an ad agency, who accidentally texted "my boss is a fucking cunt" ... to her boss. She didn't get fired or reprimanded, but she freaked out about it. - LANjackal
It floors me how much people openly vent about their jobs on public feeds like FriendFeed. Even if your boss isn't a direct contact, how are people so sure that a boss or co-worker won't stumble across it? - Mike Doeff from iPhone
If I have complaints about work, I try to mask them as much as possible or make them more about me personally than the job itself. At the same time, I really try to stay mum about any job I have.. - Jon, the Chilled Beartato
Mike and how are you so sure that other people don't know who you are talking about? There's a person here on FriendFeed who complains about their coworker. Even though I live in a different city, I know that coworker. - Admiral Anika
+1 Anika. I generally refrain from talking bad about my employer/coworkers ANYWHERE online. Even on anonymous accounts. You just never know who might freak out and file an unmasking court order. It's happened before. - LANjackal from IM
It also doesn't matter if anyone sees it when you write it, because The Google sees it and records it for anyone looking for it years from now. - Trish R
Maybe the more general rule that comes into play here is to never say anything about someone you wouldn't tell them to their face. - Ken Sheppardson
Well said Ken. - Benjamin Taylor
What an idiot... When people claim we don't need guidelines for employees using social media, I just have to point out cases of extreme stupidity like this... - Badger Gravling
Ouch! Hope she learned the lesson. And +1 Ken, this is the simplest rule not to forget at any point. - lelapin
this is huge! - Loic Le Meur
OH those lessons learned the hard way. - anna sauce
This is great! Don't bite the hand that feeds especially if you're friends on FB. - Gabe Diaz from iPhone
Why friend your boss in the first place, especially if all you do is complain about the job? - Adrian McMillan
Ouch… :P - Daniel Schildt
Well someone has to make room for other people! From the sounds of it, she was probably already canned anyway. - Robert Fisher
Well that was a bit dumb. The thing about social media is it's just so much a part of our lives. We are encouraged to pour our views and feelings into it but we have to remember who is going to be reading it. In the end we have to censor ourselves so as a result our lifestream is a watered down stream. There are no directors cuts. - Parvez Halim
Absolutely priceless! - Robert Couture
Oh and I forgot the LOL. - Parvez Halim
this is something that may occur very often. More than we think! - Rui
@Rui I remember a colleague of mine did a similar thing. Luckily they got away with a written warning and no pay rise for that year. - Parvez Halim
HUGE! - Nathan Guetta
Interestingly, every time I consider complaining about my job via any social media platform, I stop and think "how can I make my job better? how can I improve myself?" and then end up writing about that instead. It has made me a much happier person. Really. - mike fabio
OMG ! this is awesome - Franck Nouyrigat
OUCH! - Retno Nindya
.. and that's why I'm private. I'm pretty good about not talking about work, but never know when I may say something completely stupid - Rodfather
I think there is a serious point here: Your on-line social network pals will be supportive of you regardless of whether you are right or wrong. That's what friends are for, kind of. All the boss does is let in a bit of reality. - sjjh
Maybe she wanted to be fired by her boss? Just questioning... - Torsten Eckert
Splendid. Too bad the story isn't real. OR IS IT...? - Francesco Balducci
I do so love the false sense of anonymity the Internet instills in people. - matthew john ernisse
haha! - orionstarr
Where did you get this? I'm trying to verify that it is actually a real event. Looks too 'perfect' and to generate this much hype I believe it is just two friends that wanted to laugh about how stupid the world is... - Brian J. Reeves
I wondered the same myself. The language suggests it's from the UK - LANjackal from IM

Oops: Teacher Accidentally Gave Self-Made Sex Tape to 5th Graders | CBS News
“A class of fifth graders in California got a shocking crash course on the birds and the bees courtesy of their teacher and an x-rated home video she accidently included in a DVD of classroom memories.” - Anthony Citrano from Bookmarklet
That certainly would make for a memorable class. - James (!?)
Why in the name of insanity and all her whacky nephews did CBS feel the need to include a clip and a screenshot? - Matthew DeVries from fftogo
You really don't know, Matthew? - Vince DeGeorge
LOL! Wonder if it's leaked online? - Matt Ruiz
@Matt: That's what I'm wondering too. Which parent *cough* father - leaked this on the Internet. - AJ Kohn
Whoopsiedaisy ... always check the contents of a disc before handing them out. - Rene Wirtz

Note: Don't use school camera for porn. Always separate cam for porn. End of lesson. - Eric @ CSTechcast.com
wtf - l0ckergn0me
Frankly, I don't understand the whole idea of filming your erotic moments in the first place... - John E. Bredehoft
John: So you can 'enjoy' them later ;) - Matt Ruiz
The best way to find the video is to do a search for Crystal Defanti on Twitter search, and then make sure the person linking the video follows zero and has only a couple 10s of followers - Matthew DeVries
Yeah, well, while I can appreciate the sentiment, I certainly don't want other people enjoying my private moments later; in other words, they WON'T be filmed! Just a no-brainer for me. YMMV, but you risk sharing that road with unauthorized vehicles. - MiniMage TKDteacher of FF
Matthew: Your advice didn't work. :( - Matt Ruiz
I have friends that were two grades younger who borrowed a digital camera from an old teacher of mine when they were in 8th grade. Then they found her naked photos on the camera. She was fired, of course. - Daniel Zarick
I hope she doesn't get fired. I mean, big mistake for sure but ... um, we all have sex. I'd rather they see nudity over violence. - AJ Kohn
Video or it didn't happen. - mike fabio
I'm wondering when the whole video will leak. - Burcu Dogan
it hasn't yet? - anna sauce
@AJ authority figure, trust, all of that. news says she probably won't, though - mjc
@Michael: She made the mistake of splicing this onto a DVD. Outside of that, there's nothing else going on IMO. Did we think she *didn't* have sex before this happened? Or that she's some rarity who takes pictures or video of sexual activity? *shrugs* We just happen to know about her peccadilloes now - nearly everyone has 'em. - AJ Kohn
What AJ said. - Anthony Citrano
Again I lament having clearly attended the wrong schools... - MVB (Grinch of FF)
.... - kang
I disagree with those who think she shouldn't be fired, not because she has sex, or because she made a video, but because of the sheer stupidity of handing it out to students. I wish someone with more experience than me could explain how it is even possible to accidentally include a clip. Does she just have the file on her desktop? Did she not check the DVD before sending it out? This... more... - Andrizzle Gizzle
Well, that's embarrassing. - John (a.k.a. dendroica)
Sad - Dave Q
Why didn't that thing occur to me in 5th grade ? lol - DAL

I never ever got such cool teachers ;-) - Freddie Benjamin
@Kurt: exactly. too many people have kids but aren't actually acting as parents. this leads to things like wanting laws to make the government do the parenting for them. "What, you mean I have to pay attention to what my kids read/watch/listen to?" okay, i'd better stop before i start here. :P - Joe Silence is not Santa

Your Taste in Music Can Reveal How Smart (or Dumb) You Are - http://www.labnol.org/interne...
Your Taste in Music Can Reveal How Smart (or Dumb) You Are
"Written by Amit Agarwal on February 24, 2009 Text Size beethovenVirgil Griffith, popularly known for the Wikipedia Scanner that detects where the Wikipedia edits are coming from, maintains another very interesting project that maps musical tastes of college students with their intelligences levels (determined by their SAT score). The x-axis represent the SAT score while the colored boxes indicate the music genre and the artist / composer. Fans of Lil Wayne’s music scored the lowest in SAT while listeners of Beethoven’s work were among the highest scorers. The full chart is available at Music That Makes You Dumb. To come up with this chart, Virgil used Facebook to determine the "Favorite music" at different colleges in US and then combined it with the average combined SAT scores of students from these colleges. He has done a similar exercise for books as well. - Cee Bee from Bookmarklet
Lulz in general, though the hip hop / rap break is thrown an interesting curveball here. I'd love to know how they broke that down. - Richard Lawler
Im a smart cookie! - Shevonne
Most of my music isn't even on the big chart. - RAPatton
So you are off-the-chart genius! ;) - Shevonne
OR, they are so low, they can't even make the floor - RAPatton
I wasn't going to say it. hahahha - Shevonne
counting crows though? it's like that? ha - Cee Bee
I wish the list was bigger or more diverse. I'm surprised by Jazz. Also that some of the list is specific to an artist (i.e. Beck) and others are an entire genre (rap). Where would your favorite musicians fall? - JoEllen
i find this chart amusing. - Carlos Ayala
Don't even get me started on this BS - Shey, Jamaican of FF
+1 Shey - Louis Simoneau
Apparently my husband and I are real idiots. - Michelle Martinez
Right there with you, Shey. - Jared Smith
Me too Michelle - Shey, Jamaican of FF
How does cowbell rate? Yeah, just straight cowbell. What? - Christopher Harley
LOL. Yeah, how did they manage to separate rap and hip-hop? - Victor Ganata
This is retarded. I got a 1370 on my SAT's an listen to a variety of stuff across this chart.Besides the fact that I don't think SAT scores are a good indicator of intelligence. - Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
@RAH ++++++ They're not - Shevonne
ahhahah I can't get over Counting Crows being so far to the smart side. - Carmen
Maybe you're an outlier, Rah. - Christopher Harley
Heh, I guess ALL smart Black people are outliers huh? - Shey, Jamaican of FF
C'mon, Shey. You and I and Rah as well know that this is completely unable to predict anything. - Christopher Harley
@Christopher I'm just ticked that someone would come up with something so blatantly full of prejudice. - Shey, Jamaican of FF
There is data here that's probably useful for something, but the test is whether or not you're dumb enough to think that the title is even close to accurate. - Richard Lawler
Ridiculous. - Jen (SquirrelGirl)
Apparently people who score >1400 don't listen to music at all? So listening to *any* music makes you dumb! - Victor Ganata
I'd assume there aren't (any/enough?) colleges with an average SAT score of 1400. - Richard Lawler
+2 Shey. I guess Jazz is for dummies? But Jay-Z is "smarter" LMFAO ... - Amani
In other words, this study doesn't measure what it says it measures. - Victor Ganata
this is so easy to pick apart. and the writer of the headline is too stupid to know why. - tiffany
I bet that if you actually did this study properly, by obtaining individual SAT scores and weighing each individual's favorite music, this graph would look entirely different. Of course, it still wouldn't mean that SAT scores actually measure intelligence. - Victor Ganata
This Virgil guy went to my high school (a few years after me) and he's a smart cookie. Before lambasting the article I recommend you skip straight to his analysis - it's grounded in reality. http://www.virgil.gr/44 It's well known that white students historically perform better on US standardized tests, and no one honestly believes that means they are innately smarter. There is simply some lingering cultural bias in the construction of the tests as well as in our education system. - Daniel J. Pritchett
"Do people with SAT >= 1400 just not listen to music? No, they do listen to music -- just look at those high-tier school's facebook profiles! *Averages* are being plotted. So even though high-scoring schoools are included in this average, the average is pulled down by the less selective schools." - Daniel J. Pritchett
"Counting Crows is an usual one near the top of the list. However, when UPenn Princeton, Duke, Williams, and Upenn make up ~20% of the weight you'd expect a high score." Counting Crows is from Berkeley, so it's understandable that they'd easily relate to students at top-tier schools. - Daniel J. Pritchett
Also realize that the guy is doing his best to extrapolate this information without having access to individual's preferences or test scores. (Methodology here: http://booksthatmakeyoudumb.virgil.gr/) Multiplying one aggregated top 10 list of favorites against another averaged standardized test score and then weighting them by population against similar numbers from other schools is... more... - Daniel J. Pritchett
But why bother doing it if it won't reflect reality at all? There's no need to talk about correlation ≠ causation when you haven't even established correlation properly. - Victor Ganata
I scored a 1300 on my SATs, and I enjoy plenty of the music in the 1000 range. I think this study is more of a correlation than casuation. Lower SAT scores --> Poorer quality education --> Lower economic standing --> differing tastes in music. - Mike Nayyar
Victor - I imagine the author is doing this for the impish self-satisfaction of seeing the reaction generated by the chart. This also gets him some national press, something he seems to have been generating every year or two (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...) for most of the decade. At this point I imagine that he's doing it on purpose and has a goal that involves being semi-famous on the internets and in tech academia. - Daniel J. Pritchett
He's doing it to get attention, hence the name. - Richard Lawler
Exactly, Richard. He's gotten pretty good at that and he seems to be enjoying himself enough to keep it up with new "discoveries" every so often. - Daniel J. Pritchett
But it's not even correlation. As Daniel notes, you're measuring aggregates against averages. The data. It means nothing! - Victor Ganata
Daniel, LOL. I imagine you're right. Why do I always get duped into thinking people actually care about anything vaguely resembling the truth? - Victor Ganata
I'm curious about the process and schools used. Not too many "young "people listen to the music with the higher scores... Seeing Jazz so low is hurtful too. Did they mean smooth jazz or Bebop? - Anthony Farrior
“Soca” isn’t a band. It’s a form of music from the West Indies. More importantly, soca is from an area that leans toward Great Britain and Europe. Listeners of this music usually speak more than one language so I find it funny to believe they aren’t as intelligent b/c they score low on American tests… - Anthony Farrior
Anthony - Notice that all of the genres are between 800 and 1000. All that tells us is that the subset of colleges with Facebook pages and publicized SAT scores average out to ~900 on the SAT. Virgil points out in the FAQ that not all schools have listed Facebook pages or published SAT scores. You can imagine that schools would self-select out of those pools for various reasons. - Daniel J. Pritchett
re: jazz/ soca--Doesn't this chart simply indicate that listeners of these 2 genres don't frequent FaceBook? or do I really need to 'wise-up' and put away my MIles Davis records and listen to Blink 182/ Ludacris. FAIL!! - Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)
Yeah, it would be nice if—like a "real scientist" (to use his own words)—he would list the reasons why this methodology doesn't work very well, but that's probably asking too much. - Victor Ganata
I'm not an expert on raw data integrity but maybe the Non-US genres should've been omitted... - Anthony Farrior
Cool, so if I had ever taken my SAT, I would have scored high. :) - Grant Bierman
While I'll gladly accept the label "outlier", sung to the tune of "Lowrider", I have some real problems with this study. - ha3rvey, not a sweetheart from fftogo
we knew socioeconomic background correlates with SAT scores... and now we discover that music taste is correlated with socioeconomic background? ;) - ௸ (k2g)
This so called "study" is basically crap, yes. - ⓞnor
That map lost all credibility we me as soon as I saw it indicates that Counting Crows fans are among the smartest - I have no idea why but I dislike that band more than any that has ever existed...in all of time and space...of course I may just be an idiot - Marco(aureliusmaximus)
From what I hear Google already looks for 3.5s from "top tier" schools or something similar as their default hiring criteria. Woof. - Daniel J. Pritchett
Creativity seems more important than IQ for "old-school success" after IQ > 120. But what does it mean for "new-school happy-with-life fulfillment"? College GPA/SAT correlations http://gradeinflation.com GRE/SAT-IQ Estimator http://iqcomparisonsite.com/GREIQ... (e.g. snobby Mensa wants top 2% = IQ 130-132, 1995-2006SAT=1295-1320 1974-1994SAT=1250-1270 1932SAT=1190-1210) and yes the pre-1974 Mensa scale is messed up. - Mitchell Tsai
Yeah... because people who listen to country are WAY smarter than people who listen to jazz or rock... - Brandon Titus
SAT rescaling/recentering occurs often http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... Current scores are 0-2400. Even on the old 1600 pt scale, when SAT recentered in April 1995, scores inflated ~80-120 pts (70-80 verbal, 10-40 math), which made them 1/3 as useful for us working Harvard admissions. http://professionals.collegeboard.com/data-re... P.S. Harvard has no minimum requirement - some people with 400s & 500s are admitted. I haven't seen any admissions with 300s, who knows? - Mitchell Tsai
My guess is that people at smarter schools want to portray an image that they're smarter, thus they list only "smart" bands + genres on their Facebook. GW has a 1240 avg. SAT and the musical tastes here are definitely more to the lefthand side. FWIW, I really like Radiohead and Shins, though. Plus, Ben Folds played a show on campus last week. - James O'Malley
Mmmm... Mongo like Jazz... - Kevin Johnson
I like Beyonce, Gospel, Hip Hop...also U2, Counting Crows, Bob Dylan, so I guess that makes me schizophrenic...both 900 and 1200. Interesting stories about musical talent/IQ abound. Some speculate that Mozart had extremely high musical talent with low IQ, thus the technical simplicity of his pieces. Others say that the most interesting music for people is the stuff which pushes their edge (thus, country music listeners are less intelligent). What a way to be controversial! - Mitchell Tsai
Pop can be a road to financial/career success for musical talents. I love the texture of a lot of Debbie Gibson's songs (and many here have commented on my lack of musical taste... :-) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... She was a classical music prodigy when young, and I enjoy the multiple lines of melody/harmony/sounds in some of her pieces. I'm not much into boring basslines and thumping bass. My life is pretty good, so I often don't connect with pieces with too much anger/angst. - Mitchell Tsai
I said this in Sarah's thread but my SAT scores isn't on the X axis and I listen to Weezy. - Mona Nomura
There's some serious racial effects at play here. But Jazz?!? - Dror Shimshowitz
Kang pretty much spells it out earlier. One of the things the SAT is good at measuring is your socioeconomic status. In the U.S., SES is tightly coupled to race. It looks like 1076 is roughly the line that splits white artists from artists of color. I guess the only thing up in the air is whether people are more likely to prefer (although not necessarily exclusively so) music performed and/or created by artists of similar ethnic/racial background. Then you've got your chain of causation. - Victor Ganata
*cough cough* Junk science *cough* - Mo Kargas
Of course, it's not the chain of causation the article title claims it is. - Victor Ganata
With all due respect... seeing generic "jazz" in leftmost column is insulting :) - andrei_c
++Andrei- Also I'm all over the chart and a big bunch doesn't even make it. - InPerpetualMotion(Gina k)
As most of the studies that appear nowadays on the net, completely stupid, but fun. - Jordi Soler
I remember something like this from last summer when it was confirmed my musical schizophrenia wasn't subject to music alone. - Michael W. May
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2... personality and musical taste http://www.peopleintomusic.com/ for the research site. - Michael W. May

Hanged for being a Christian in Iran - http://truediscernment.wordpress.com/2008...
Another reason why I resist religious people putting their beliefs into our social code. - Robert Scoble
The American Founding Fathers had this all figured out over two centuries ago. They were coastal elitists. - Sean McBride
Correction: He wasn't hanged for being a Christian. He was hanged for converting away from Islam (apostasy) which is a punishable offense under Sharia (Islamic) Law - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki... - Mohamed J
Pro-christian and a "Friend of Israel" as shown in the image on the original post. - Mohamed J
Good spot Robert - I agree that while principles should be adopted, beliefs should not be forced upon anybody through any form of legislation. However, this happens in the West just as in the Muslim world. - Paul Johnston from twhirl
Apostasy should not be punishable anywhere. And no, this is not limited to Iran, or to the Muslim world (or even to the religious world - think John Connally and Joe Lieberman, who were denied Vice Presidential nominations). Even in the US, changing your religion (or lack thereof) can be difficult if your family or community shares the belief that you are leaving. - Ontario Emperor from fftogo
They also hate gay people: http://tinyurl.com/4lf4cd Sound familiar? - Rick Powell
Thank you for sharing, Robert. - Ken Stewart | ChangeForge
The worlds biggest scam - Religion, we need to get rid of it for good. It IS the cause of the majority of the worlds issues. - SoN9ne
Thanks for correcting the record, Mo J. and G. Lent. I'm feeling warmer towards the Iranian government and less shocked that an individual soul was exterminated for their beliefs. - Christopher Galtenberg
Wow, that's horrible. Has anyone seen Religulous? the new movie? Makes some good points about religion being dangerous. - Sarah Perez
Correcting the record? A month ago, the Iranian parliament voted 196 to 7 in favour of a bill entitled "Islamic Penal Code" which imposes the death penalty for any male Iranian who leaves his Islamic faith ... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news... - Joel Bennett
I don't think religion is dangerous, but extremism certainly is. You can be an extremist without being religious. Just look at the Soviet Union....? And while I sort of agree with Scoble's comment about beliefs in a social code (e.g. I agree with 1st Amendment) many people's moral beliefs (e.g. do not lie, do not steal, do not murder, etc) come out of their religious beliefs....! - Justin Long
Article on hanged... in Telegraph as well http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news... - Justin Long
Religion tends to create and fuel extremism, though, in the way that only a "my God says you are UNCLEAN" can do... - Jason Carreira
For the record, Ramtin Soodmand was a Christian from birth. It was his father who was an apostate from Islam. - Ontario Emperor
Religion is neither dangerous nor is it the cause of the majority of the worlds issues. The danger and cause is directly related to people who use religion to generate fear and hate for control and power. The same things that have allowed a person think it's ok to kill a gay person in the name of religion are the same thing that has allowed someone to think it's ok to kill a muslim in the name of national security. We should be prompting understanding and not blaming. BTW the link story is sad. - Shawn McCollum
Some religions seem to be xenophobic, intolerant, violent and imperialistic at the very core, at the root. The evil that they do is not a deviation from or perversion of their core message, but an expression of their innermost nature. - Sean McBride
A person's moral code does not come from their religion. But rather their faith comes from their moral code. - Alex Scoble
Two way street, I'm afraid, Alex. That's proven everyday. - Michael W. May from twhirl
when you think you know how things should be there is something terribly wrong - adolfo foronda
Thing is, Robert, people put thier beliefs into 'our social code'. Each person has a 'religion' or better put, a world view. no one, should ever be persucuted for thier beliefs. period. - SolidSmack from twhirl
So, if some of the more "extremist" Islamic countries view Obama as someone who has left the faith, how effective will he, and by extension, the USA, be in peaceful negotiations with these countries? http://www.danielpipes.org/article... - MVB (Grinch of FF)
god I wish people would just abandon religion altogether already. I'm to the point where I honestly can't say that religion actually brings ANY good into this world. - LarchOye from twhirl
It's not religions that are xenophobic, intolerant, etc... It's people. This is a trait of people. People often misinterpret the teachings of the religions to which they belong and use their religion as a facade to hide their hatred and bigotry behind. Attacking the religion for the people's problems is problematic, b/c it empowers them to fight back by saying that you're being anti-religious. - C. K. Sample III from Alert Thingy
C.K. Sample III: I would argue that some ideologies, both religious and secular, are manifestations of the worst parts of human nature. Their xenophobia and hatred of cult outsiders expresses their innermost essence. Ideologies of this kind are essentially tools of domination and control. Any ideology which rigidly divides the world in a fundamental (and fundamentalist) way into us vs. them is probably a scam run by a power mad self-appointed priesthood. - Sean McBride
Alex, I'm not sure I agree with that. Many people are born into a religion and inculturated into it, and develop their moral code on the basis of their religion (e.g. The Bible or the Quran or whatever says...). I remember my first faith moment when I was quite young, about 5 years old. Every moral element of my code originated from religious teaching... - Justin Long
@justin "do not lie/steal/murder" are so very generic concepts. Religion framed those concepts and gave context to common sense ideas, which could have happened without religion as well. In the past if you killed the man who killed your brother was it murder or justice? A religious belief system should have as much right as a non-religious belief system, the problem is that when they clash it turns into a fight rather then understanding. - Shawn McCollum
LarchOye, people of faith do plenty of good things in the world, as a result of their faith. Unfortunately there are also people of faith who do plenty of bad things. And people are not going to abandon their religion. The majority of the world is religious in outlook.... - Justin Long
all: i find Jonathon Haidt's [http://bit.ly/4DAyN8] work on 'inborn moral values' pretty interesting. his TED talk [http://bit.ly/OFIjO] gives a quick summation of what his research sez are the five moral values built into our genetic code. - MikeAmundsen
Shawn, I agree they are generic concepts. My point was that I was taught them by my parents on the basis of our religious code. In my personal life, my moral code came FROM my religious teaching, not vice-versa. Granted that they might have originally come TO my religion FROM an earlier source, I was only talking about me personally. Maybe I misunderstood Alex's comment. - Justin Long
@C. K. Sample III - “I believe that nobody has a clue what really happens after you die. Not the Pope, not the preacher at my folk’s church, not some Tibetan monk who has meditated and pondered all his life - no one! I believe that religion is personal and is for every individual to decide for his or herself. Mostly it’s none of anybody’s business what I believe. I believe that public... more... - LarchOye from twhirl
@LarchOye, I would generally agree with a lot of that! as a Christian I'd say that I take the afterlife on faith, that I don't have anything that conclusively proves it to me. I believe - as did Jesus - that faith is personal and a matter of personal decision. I do believe there is a place for public, corporate worship as a way of fellowship, but a lot of public prayer can be for show, as Jesus criticized the Pharisees for (and I could criticize a number of people today)..... - Justin Long
why is there evil in the world? "If there's evil, there is good, if there is good, there you posit a moral law to diferintiate between good and evil, if there is a moral law you must posit a moral law giver..... if there's no moral law giver, there's no moral law, if there's no moral law, there's no good, if there's now good, there is no evil. what is your question?" [ravi zacharias] - SolidSmack from twhirl
And there is evidently evil, or Google would just say "Don't be bad" :) - Justin Long
Despite what we think of the current administration, there's one thing we should all be able to agree on: Iran scares the crap out of me. - Fleagle
Iran doesn't scare me. If Ahmadinejad was the Supreme Leader maybe. What scares me is america's posture towards Iran. - Shawn McCollum
Fleagle - why are religious fundamentalists in Iran scarier than religious fundamentalists in the United States, Israel and other nations who are deliberately trying to provoke World War IV and Armageddon? John Hagee is a close adviser to Joseph Lieberman, and Lieberman is a high-level adviser to John McCain and Sarah Palin. Judeo-Christian fundamentalists in the U.S. have access to a huge array of WMDs. I have often heard them declare that we should use them against entire nations in a first strike. - Sean McBride
In India, there are groups (both Hindu and Muslim) that advocate killing of members of the other religion, and often commit those crimes as well. At the same time, there are people of both faiths who would like nothing better than such dickheads to get out of their lives and just let everyone live in peace. These extremists have political representation and the country has had to face communal riots time and again. But once you look at it closely, you see it is not at all about religion. It's just crime. - Vijayendra (V-Mo) Mohanty
For me, religious fundamentalists are "scarier" in Iran because (1) there are more of them, (2) they have more instances of mob violence killing individual believers, (3) there is less of a chance of someone in our govt provoking WW4 (checks-and-balances) than there is of Iran instituting draconian anti-religious persecution. What has to happen for us to actually use a WMD? They have to be authorized, and they can't just be authorized by a president - there is a system of confirmations required. - Justin Long
sigh. killing in the name of religion. When will we ever get along? I hope we can all do something to stop this. - Dave Q
