... "an application bundle including a server and web client supporting real-time collaboration using the same structured conversations as the Google Wave system" ...
- Egon Willighagen
"Google Wave, a product once heralded by many as a massively disruptive communication tool (heck, invites were even selling for $70 on eBay), is no more. In a blog post this afternoon, Google says they “don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product,” though the code for it will remain available as open source. The move isn’t much of a surprise; adoption never seemed to materialize for Google Wave — even after it dropped its invite-only status — as users struggled to find meaningful use cases for the service (though we found a few). What’s most interesting about Wave, perhaps, is the spectacular rate of its rise and fall. It was easily one of the most hyped products of 2009, but within months of its launch, the buzz had almost completely disappeared."

if only you could bold an announcement in FF like you can in Wave :D [oh, and my username on Wave is the splendiforously original "adamlasnik"]
- Adam Lasnik
Guys, please read the title and the first comment. This is not a request for invites. This is for users who already have an account and want to share their account name. For invites see this thread: http://ff.im/91M9R
- Kol Tregaskes
My Wave ID is erier2003@googlewave.com. Feel free to add me and we can Wave!
- Eric Geller
Still don't really know what this is (Or Google Voice for that matter). This is like high school all over again. The cool kids are ignoring me!
- James Ferguson

- Jamie Vidamour

- Kol Tregaskes

- amarquart
Blimey. I must be going mad, is it not clear that this is NOT an invite thread. For invites see here: http://ff.im/91M9R
- Kol Tregaskes
Not sure if anyone else woudl find it useful, i'm going to add a load of you as friends and create a wave just to try stuff out in. Feel free to remove yourself from the wave or use it as you feel. Also feel free to add anyone else you think might want to be in on it
- Jamie Vidamour
Shockingly, I am robdiana@googlewave.com
- Rob Diana
Kamilah, you are kamilah.gill. You can find this if you click on yourself in the Contacts sidebar. You address (like everyone) is shown there.
- Kol Tregaskes
Karoli: is that your google wave nick or are you sniffling? :)
- Ahsan Ali
I'm sniffling because I don't have a google wave nick. Despite two invites, there is still nothing in my inbox. I am not in with the in crowd. :(
- Karoli

- Holger Eilhard

Invite came today! I'm jalada@googlewave.com. As part of the second/third 'Wave' of people getting invites looks like I don't get any to share out.
- Jalada
M Fatih Kurtoglu: Sorry, I don't yet have any nominations to give out...
- Holger Eilhard
Hey, I'm in too ! :)) tagyboy@googlewave.com

Just got my invite this morning as well. FF embed seems to be working fine. I've tried the Wolfram Alpha robot but didn't get it to work yet.
- François Dongier
librarysupporter@googlewave.com in my wave. :)
- MLx
Glad to see more and more people getting in. What we're waiting for is proper group support (a few weeks hopefully) then let the games begin! :-D
- Kol Tregaskes
Anyone have a spare google wave invite to send to me? email me at zaldor at gmail ! TY!

- JR
If you are not regularly using Google Wave what's stopping you? Does Wave need new features? Is the performance an issue or are you just too busy with other social sites or don't see a need for Wave?
- Kol Tregaskes
Nay for me - just can't get it to be valuable for me, and I've found a lot of resilience of using it by people I've invited
- Jorge Escobar
I check my Inbox each day but nothing much comes in apart from a few replies to publc feeds I'm followed. I've not searched for new public waves nor posted anything to anyone up until today. I'd like to use Wave more but it needs groups, just like Google Buzz.
- Kol Tregaskes
Some friends and I were using it to schedule going to the movies together but I haven't logged in to check in weeks. Mostly for many of the reasons stated above.
- Akiva
So far, haven't seen any problem I have that Wave would solve--and I'm reluctant to add Googlejuice to my life without good reason (a stand reaffirmed by the Buzz introduction).
- Walt Crawford
It's ugly and confusing. Don't see what it offers me that I don't get elsewhere.
- Matt
Not unless I get email updates from threads that I am following in Google wave. But not really.
- Patrick
from email
@Patrick there's a setting for that already (email notifications)
- Jorge Escobar
UNFORTUNATELY not. No one uses it and that's a pity. It should be "email 2.0"
- georgeker
Out of the 88 people I 'waved' only 3 have replied so far. Does that tell a story. ;-)
- Kol Tregaskes
no. never understood how I should use it.
- Almost_Blue
Since it provides real-time communication as you type, the opponent is able to see what you type, which I believe could be one of the reasons for its dis-popularity
