I'd admit it...I was getting a little misty-eyed. Hard not to.

When will Simon Cowell bag the ugly ass haircut?
- Alex Scoble
I love these things. Worth watching.
- Robert Scoble
Robert, agreed. I wish the iphone had the ability to send a link to a youtube video quickly so this could be sent to my daughters today
- LPH™ and his dog P™
I wish they tuned down the audience a bit... Could barely hear her at times
- Mark Philpot
this lady certainly has a voice! good for her i say for being brave. :)
- Tatty Gibson
OMG, I'm in tears here. That was lovely and wow that song with all that. Had to favorite it. </sentimental wimp>
- Admiral Anika
Is good to see what nature can do. Incredible voice!
- Rafael
That's a magnificent clip, I wish America's Got Talent was so entertaining and surprising.
- Jonathan Coffman
i watched this last night, love her! Her voice is a true gift.
- Laura Zickus
Thanks for sharing that - perfect for this time of year
- Jesse Stay
She's this year's Paul Potts. Great voices, the pair of them.
- Mark H
That was just amazing. And the perfect song for both her situation and to start the waterworks. Now i have to follow the show and see if she wins.
- Kevin Fox
While I absolutely detest these shows, I must say, this woman got to me.
- Rob Michael (Atmos Trio)
Oh, Duh. Got it, Kevin. This reminds me of the British man who sang opera. It was unbelievable. I think our American shows shoudn't limit the age. I'd love to see what some of the older folks here can do.
- Dawn
Dawn, America's got talent doesn't limit age either
- Jesse Stay
Great! I was thinking of American Idol. Never seen America's Got Talent.
- Dawn
"so you think you can dance" limits at 30 years or so. Such a shame.
- Kevin Fox
"So that's just one side of me!" Hahaha. So nice, she's courageous and willing, good game! So modest to have her walk away after her performance, I'm almost crying.
- ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
Wow. I usually avoid all of these types of shows. But that was very cool!
- Louis Gray
I actually felt a lump form in my throat. Good for her.
- cecily
As LG said, it's my first view of that. Damn talents' shows, they got me.
- ElijahBailey-Zu of FF <0,
Not bad! I still prefer this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch... - That said, it was a surprisingly good performance. Not as much as Paul Potts, who was entirely horripilative and transcendent.
- david beckwith
This was a surprise--and lovely, thx
- susan mernit
Awesome performance. I've never seen the look of pleasant surprise on Simon's face before. You could tell that even he enjoyed it. He still needs to get a better haircut though.
- Alex Scoble
Britain may have talent, but that's more than I can say for Simon Cowell. The man is the Antichrist, as far as i'm concerned.
- Iain Baker
He was a tamed little kitteh for 6 minutes during that performance though.
- Alex Scoble
Don't know enough about Cowell to make a value judgement on the man. Sometimes (and I don't know if this is the case with Cowell) the a-hole attitude is a public front. It's possibly the case with Gordon Ramsey, and it certainly is with Ann Robinson - I've been to a recording of 'The Weakest Link' at Pinewood Studios, and she switches 'bitch mode' on and off along with the cameras.
- Ian May
Wow! Brings back memories when I first saw paul potts...
- Jorg Jansen
Seriously? This reeks of scripted viral. The show caught (online) fire in '07 with the Paul Potts audition...arguably the hottest shared video of the year. When the show returned last year, there wasn't an act even minutely close to the WOM impact Potts had generated the privious year. Clearly the BGT online buzz strategy for '09... Potts 2.0. #fail
- Zach Lytwyn
The best thing about this thread is that there is really only one cynical jaded comment out of all of them.
- cecily
Watching Simon's eyes go wide was soooooo worth it.
- Great Scott!
ahh, the power of the edit. great job of making her look like a 'cat lady' for the first several minutes. all the more powerful when we find out she's not totally daft.
- MikeAmundsen
That is one courageuos woman with an amazing voice. Goosebumps all over.
- Jochen Lillich

I don't even go to Digg anymore. friendfeed is about the only social site i go to. I only go to myspace to play mafia wars. facebook i don't visit anymore.
- Jason Shultz
Digg is dying for me. Pretty much everything on it I see at FF or on rss first and reddit fills my need for funny and depressing stuff,
- Brandon Titus
"There's been some discussion about whether John McCain's announcement last week that he was pulling out of Michigan was some kind of stunt. Well, Rasmussen has the first polling out of the state since that announcement, and it gives Barack Obama a 16 point lead. This is a state that, as recently as a month ago, looked like it might be the most important swing state in the nation."

This is (I think) why I like FriendFeed so much. I don't have to make allll those choices.
- Robert Seidman
I was thinking the same thing this morning while reading Disqus/Seesmic integration. While considered, its now growing impossible to start a chart about what integrates with what, much less keep up with those most valuable. Some of us geeks really do work for a living...
- jcunwired
Hindi: BhiyaCah, though feed is used in the sense of "eat", and not "information". Edit: BhiyaKhao is a better way of writing it in English.
- Rishabh Mishra (p248)
What is BhiyaCah, I didn't got it?? DostPakad or YaarKhabar can be an option.
- Rohit Srivastwa
Spanish is my second language but I suppose I'm qualified since it's what we speak at home.. AgregadorDeAmigos or FeedDeAmigos (since feed is widely used in its English form). Putting the "friend" before the "feed" doesn't make since in Spanish and it just reads weird without the "de." A two-word possiblity would be AgregadorAmigable ("Friendly Feed").
- Shannon Jiménez
Russian is notoriously known for being a pain in the everything when it comes to translating such basic things, but Лента Друзей is one of the first, obvious and simplest choices. Ah, and I can just see all the controversy in discussions rising.
- Urbansheep
@makiwara, urbansheep: друговорот is no good 'cause it implies the coming and going of friends, as opposed to friends' updates. would work for a social network focused on dead friends, with a pagan twist to it. ;)
- Матрëна Dentata
Well, it's not explicit implication so the notion of friends instead of their updates isn't really an issue. (While we're at it, I guess social paganetwork with an option of imaginary friend to get linked to the spiritual feed of updates of dead ones (aka spiritism) sounds plausible.)
- Urbansheep
@krace is right. Друговорот works for pagan swingclub. Друготок is wordplay precisely describing the whole idea.
- mama_ari
I don't know what is so painfully wrong with pagans or swing (oh, yeah, I forgot - Christians surrounding me, pathetic atheist), but for my Russian brain that друговорот sounds like "bunch of my friends fell off to mountain river and run in circle where river makes twist, before being thrown further down the river"... and друготок has some strange connotations with *blood dropping from knife* (probably word кровосток is guilty party)
- A.T.
@mamaAri with all my respect - лента друзей (literally "tape of friends") has connotation more with teletype tape coming out with telegrams from my friends... so, no, it is NOT mean... and you know all that P.I.T.A. about word "feed" in Russian, dontcha'ya know? ;)
- A.T.
for a matter of балаган: Другопись (stands for friend manuscript or even friend chronicles)
- Maki
German would not be 'freund' but freunde etc, and it would not be the short version unless you tried to make a bad translation. you should know that the german language works differently to english in this. ;) also the concept of friends is a slightly different one than the english one. As such I would say: unless you want a poor translation of just the words, you would go for a different name.
- Nicole Simon
@Liang 妈妈听了说:我知道'朋友',也知道'种子',但什么是'朋友的种子'呢?
- Jick Nan
"Другорядь" ) It's a game of words, but the closest meaning is "A row of friends".
- Nata
I disagree with your German translation. Although "Freundefluß" does makes sense, it is not any more literal then "Freundekanal". "Freundefutter" would be correct if the service was called FriendFood. As I know of no German noun properly translating Feed I wouldn't translate it at all, going for the notorious FreundeFeed. Other than that I agree with Nicole that it's hard to give a proper German name.
- Thomas Frütel
dutch : vriendkanaal or vriendstroom but friendfeed will do as well
- Lode Nachtergaele
For Hindi, it can be DostKhabar , YaarKhabar though the best will be MitrKhabar. In Punjabi or Urdu ,DostKhabar and YaarKhabar will do. However Rohit srivastava is right in saying that there is no exact translation for feed in all of these languages( I am trilingual). However it will be Ok to call it DostFeed, Mitrfeed or YaarFeed
