"This is the North and Clybourn Apple Stop. This is a Red Line train to Howard. Does that sound weird. Well, it is, but it could happen. According to AppleInsider and chicagobusiness.com, Apple has some pretty big -- and potentially expensive plans -- for the Red Line North and Clybourn stop. The report says that Apple will spend up to $4 million to renovate the station in the popular shopping district in Lincoln Park surrounding North, Clybourn and Halsted streets. And, Apple can, according to the report, name the stop."

I can't believe that people consider wikis and sharepoint to be competing products. I've suggested a wiki install at some places, and they install sharepoint instead. The "document sharing" is entirely backward, it's just a glorified shared network drive with a UI that avoids you from having to name things "Document 20090901 Final Backup 2 Andy FINAL Approved". Google docs is much more appropriate for sharing.

I have 2 (two) contacts on it with nothing else. In the era of multi-protocol clients I'm always idling on MSN, AIM, gTalk, Yahoo, ICQ, and Facebook chat. It's gotten to the point where I get a spam from Yahoo almost daily and I'm tempted to just tell those last 2 (two) people they need to get another network or email me if they want to continue to converse with me on the Internet.

When someone sends me an inline image or pokes me or whatever IM I want to punch them in the face. It's distracting - IM is just that: messages. I don't want to use an IM program to manage media or anything other that plain text and occasional file exchange.

oh I haven't had that problem since only one of my contacts (my gf) has inline imaging and we love being able to send eachother screencaps of what we're looking at. I wouldn't like people randomly sending me pictures either now you mention it......

Why not just share your screen directly? It seems like a lot of extra steps to take a screenshot, copy it, paste it into an IM window, and then explain it

much easier than that for me, I configured a cross-hair snap shortcut in osx (control+option+x for example), click-drag copies the selected area to clipboard, paste to im and press enter. In order to screenshare I'd need to use ichat or skype or something but Iprefer adium and I often only want to show a fraction of the page

I get the occasional IM spam on MSN, but that's usually one of my less technical friends getting pwnd and sending invisible messages on login. The Yahoo stuff is all from random generated accounts like SomeName27SomeOtherName

I've found FF on my mac MUCH less stable than on Windows. Furthermore, I feel like Snow Leopard has slowed down my FF browsing -- especially with scrolling.

I have no stability programs - I can't think of the last time any browser crashed on me (other than IE). Scrolling speed is crap for FF/Mac though.

Now that I've had a day to process I don't think it's quite as weird. I know I'm in the minority, but I've been out to my parents since I figured out I was gay at age 13, and although they had some processing of their own to do they were always my parents, always loved me, and have always been supportive in their own way. I had a lot of friends deal with coming out drama, but that was all back when we were still living with our parents. Strange to be interacting with someone going through it now.

I have nothing but sympathy for those who don't have the type of relationship with their parents where they can just come out with it. Tyler seems like an OK guy, what was he waiting for?

I definitely see a trend though where people are coming out younger and younger which I think is good. I have been trying to work out if I upgrade my existing Vista Pro install or start from scratch. So far I have a very long pros vs cons list including the applications I would need to reinstall... at the moment the upgrade is winning, purely because of Adobe CS. But then I am using it less and less now, so that adds to the pros side ;)

Tim, yeah, the Vista/Windows 7 UI seems to be about as love-it-or-hate-it as the Office Ribbon. I happen to really like them both and feel that MS's modern UIs are the best they've ever done. But I know it's definitely not for everyone.

I love the homegroup feature and use it a lot. I also love how I can select any folder and use the share with drop down to share with homegroup users.
