"This is the North and Clybourn Apple Stop. This is a Red Line train to Howard. Does that sound weird. Well, it is, but it could happen. According to AppleInsider and chicagobusiness.com, Apple has some pretty big -- and potentially expensive plans -- for the Red Line North and Clybourn stop. The report says that Apple will spend up to $4 million to renovate the station in the popular shopping district in Lincoln Park surrounding North, Clybourn and Halsted streets. And, Apple can, according to the report, name the stop."

sharepoint is pretty dreadful; it is one of those products like Lotus Notes that is foisted from on high and causes nothing but a loss of productivity
- RAPatton
It sounds like 11 months of pure torture. /me ducks ;)

I'd say schadenfreude if I didn't have to contend with Exchange myself.
- Kevin Fox
wait a minute, does exclusively mean IE too? :-O
- embee
I can't believe that people consider wikis and sharepoint to be competing products. I've suggested a wiki install at some places, and they install sharepoint instead. The "document sharing" is entirely backward, it's just a glorified shared network drive with a UI that avoids you from having to name things "Document 20090901 Final Backup 2 Andy FINAL Approved". Google docs is much more appropriate for sharing.
- Andy Bakun
I have to use IE about 10% of the time. It's probably the least terrible of the products.

I have 2 (two) contacts on it with nothing else. In the era of multi-protocol clients I'm always idling on MSN, AIM, gTalk, Yahoo, ICQ, and Facebook chat. It's gotten to the point where I get a spam from Yahoo almost daily and I'm tempted to just tell those last 2 (two) people they need to get another network or email me if they want to continue to converse with me on the Internet.
- Sparky
Do it. Akiva was down to 2 (two) people on AIM and successfully got both of them on GTalk. No more AIM.
- Rochelle
THAT DOES IT. I'm going to send my last 2 (two) IMs to my last 2 (two) contacts, and forever log off from Yahoo! Messenger (Yahoo! Messenger).
- Sparky
Except that 1 (one) of them is offline. I guess he gets an email then. *signs off*
- Sparky
AIM and Google Talk are all that is necessary, and both allow iChat video chats, FTW.
- Andru Edwards
Andru: most of my contacts are on MSN. BeejiveIM btw, is what makes this whole beautiful life possible.
- Sparky
And ewww - iChat? Seriously? Use Adium. iChat is all dumbed down and bloated with extraneous pixels.
- Sparky
does anyone else use inline images with AIM/mobileMe - after using that I can't go back to ordinary chat protocols
- Franz Sittampalam
When someone sends me an inline image or pokes me or whatever IM I want to punch them in the face. It's distracting - IM is just that: messages. I don't want to use an IM program to manage media or anything other that plain text and occasional file exchange.
- Sparky
oh I haven't had that problem since only one of my contacts (my gf) has inline imaging and we love being able to send eachother screencaps of what we're looking at. I wouldn't like people randomly sending me pictures either now you mention it......
- Franz Sittampalam
from IM
Why not just share your screen directly? It seems like a lot of extra steps to take a screenshot, copy it, paste it into an IM window, and then explain it
- Sparky
much easier than that for me, I configured a cross-hair snap shortcut in osx (control+option+x for example), click-drag copies the selected area to clipboard, paste to im and press enter. In order to screenshare I'd need to use ichat or skype or something but Iprefer adium and I often only want to show a fraction of the page
- Franz Sittampalam
I get the most SPAM on my Skype account for reason which is my least advertised account. Very weird.
- Grant Gochnauer
I get the occasional IM spam on MSN, but that's usually one of my less technical friends getting pwnd and sending invisible messages on login. The Yahoo stuff is all from random generated accounts like SomeName27SomeOtherName
- Sparky
Same with MSN. I stopped signing into both
- Rodfather
More annoying: Firefox on Windows does a great job of scrolling smoothly on Google Reader.
- Sparky
I've found FF on my mac MUCH less stable than on Windows. Furthermore, I feel like Snow Leopard has slowed down my FF browsing -- especially with scrolling.
- Grant Gochnauer
I have no stability programs - I can't think of the last time any browser crashed on me (other than IE). Scrolling speed is crap for FF/Mac though.

so Google Voice alters the iPhone user experience by replacing its core functionality? Then in that case, Firefox should be removed from Macs, since it alters the Mac user experience by replacing its core functionality. See how stupid that sounds, Apple?

"Every night, when gay men and the women who love them pour out of the bars that blanket the four block stretch of Halsted between Belmont and Addison, one of their go-to places for late-night eats is Pie Hole Pizza Joint. So many, in fact, that the place does a majority of its business after midnight even though it offers a limited menu at that time. Pie Hole is probably better known for some of its marketing than its pizza. And with slogans like "I want a large sausage" and "the best 10 inches at 2 a.m."—as well as a drag queen who delivers pizzas on Tuesdays (a promotion currently on hiatus)—the marketing is certainly entertaining. But to dismiss Pie Hole as a gimmick place that is really only there for the post-bar crowd would be a mistake: Owner Doug Brandt and his team put out some seriously good pizza."

Wow, just wow. I just found the real reason Tyler has been cagey about introducing me to his parents while they are in town this weekend: he's not out to them. I'm actually kind of stunned - there are actually people in their 30's and still not out to their parents :(
Now that I've had a day to process I don't think it's quite as weird. I know I'm in the minority, but I've been out to my parents since I figured out I was gay at age 13, and although they had some processing of their own to do they were always my parents, always loved me, and have always been supportive in their own way. I had a lot of friends deal with coming out drama, but that was all back when we were still living with our parents. Strange to be interacting with someone going through it now.
- Sparky
I didn't know I was gay myself until I was 21 or so, but I came out to my parents within a few months of figuring it out myself. I have nothing but sympathy for those who don't have the type of relationship with their parents where they can just come out with it. Tyler seems like an OK guy, what was he waiting for?
- veo
I came out to my parents when I was 26... and my BF, Gabe, came out when he was 21 to his mom and 23 to his dad. I definitely see a trend though where people are coming out younger and younger which I think is good. I think it also depends where you live -- in HS I lived in a very conservative area (Orange County, CA) and at the time I was perfectly happy being in the closet. Partly...
