A second worm to hit the iPhone has been unearthed by security company F-Secure. It is specifically targeting people in the Netherlands who are using their iPhones for internet banking with Dutch online bank ING. It redirects the bank's customers to a lookalike site with a log-in screen.

yesterday in the Prop 8 suit in the CA supreme court, the judge asked the anti-gay marriage attorney how gay marriage would threaten heterosexual couples. the lawyer said "I don't know."
- Debi Toews
Debi, I read that myself and laughed. The district court judge asked them to define 'harm' to traditional marriage and the prop-8 lawyer was totally stumped. I'm extremely interested to see how this goes down.
- veo
I still can't figure out what the downside to R71 is. There is no reason to oppose it other than hatred.
- Sparky
Sparky, the official statement against it has the expected crap about "protecting straight marriage" and then also says: "If Senate Bill 5688 is implemented, it will mean another massive expansion of government and Washingtonian taxpayers will be stuck with a multi-million dollar bill. Now is not the time to provide more entitlements to a very small minority of the population." Sounds like some vague "it'll cost you a lot of money" thing.
- Rochelle
Including the heterosexual elderly, not just gay couples.
- joey
yeah, the judge doesn't seem very friendly to the anti-gay marriage foes :)
- Debi Toews
Rochelle - how exactly will it cost more money? To my mind we are just saving money now by rejecting benefits for some people, rather than spending more money later.
- Sparky
Sparky, they probably mean by creating agencies to handle the paperwork to file and maintain, etc. Which I think has already been set up?
- joey
It won't. It's just a scare tactic. There is a radio add that says basically "State legislators have their plates full with economic issues and getting jobs back in our state, Ref 71 is just a waste of time and a distraction so vote NO to send a message to lawmakers to keep on task with the economy" It's about 20 levels of WTF.
- veo
Equal rights for everybody except the ditch diggers. :(
- Akiva Moskovitz
Because we already implemented domestic partnerships, so the work has been done. GEEEZ.
- joey
Joey - we already have those agencies as we already have domestic partnerships. This bill just expands the rights of those with a DP.
- Sparky
If only everyone would be as motivated for polygamist rights.
- Gus
This might feed the 'slippery slope' argument that people like to use against equality, but what exactly *is* wrong with plural relationships? As long as no one is actively/directly damaged by a given relationship, it shouldn't matter what the topology of that relationship is. Two husbands and one wife? why not? Three wives? WHO CARES? Follow your bliss. Not liking that your neighbor has two significant others isn't direct damage.
- veo
Why not 20 husbands and 1 wife to rule them all?
- Gus
Why not? Who does it qualitatively hurt? No one, thats who.
- veo
Yeah, this one-on-one "couple" stuff is so old-fashioned.
- Gus
Gus, I can't tell if you're mocking me or not. It's my opinion that the specifics of a given relationship is none of the public's or state's business. Marriage as a legal entity with specific morally-mandated rules *is* antiquated. Marriage should be a domestic/financial/emotional contract between individuals that is available in any size/shape.
- veo
Sounds like Gus hasn't had a threesome yet.
- Rochelle
Does that imply you have Rochelle? Oh wait, wife #2, right.

So what do you think? I bet we log in here one night and get taken right to facebook..

Zee, you are on the ball - thanks for the rapid blog posting.

I know more about the "Last Days" and heaven than I know about what's going to happen to FriendFeed as we have come to know it than was given in Paul's rather cryptic answer. And while that may not be a fair comparison (God actually gave details and signs), there is something definitely not forthcoming about his response. You usually withhold details that affect another party and to...

Re: "transforming" into something beautiful. Isn't that the same thing Buffalo Bill said in Silence of the Lambs?
- BLOGBloke
Nice post Zee... you've nicely captured my sentiments on FF
- Susan Beebe
Ken: good point, i almost stopped to mention it after my comment about metamorphosis since it doesn't really make a lot of sense if paul says ff is transforming (which he didn't he said it's in chrysalis - which means it will be transforming, but not yet)
- Chris Heath
Except he didn't say FF is in chrysalis either, Chris. He could be talking about Facebook.
- Ken Sheppardson
But honestly, I haven't seen this much interpretation, re-interpretation, reading between the lines, hashing and rehashing and "what he probably/really meant was..." since the last time Alan Greenspan testified before congress.
- Ken Sheppardson
What's Greenspan's stand on FF. I must know. Now.
- Micah Wittman
Ken: maybe he's talking about facebook there, but i thought he was responding to the accusations that friendfeed is dead, not 'why hasn't facebook added any cool features recently?'
- Chris Heath
Why would this spur anti-Apple backlash, pray tell? This is very cocky marketing. Let's see how it works, first, before people start to hate their iPhones. And Windows 7? Enjoy your balloons! We've seen this Apple is in trouble stuff before. We'll see how it does once it's really in the wild. You've had this weird obsession w/bashing Apple ever since the Google voice stuff, calling them...

It's the built up to the Release of the Storm 2 and the new Android phone from Google.
- George Mag
Verizon hasnt made a peep about the Storm 2. I think they are going all in on this Droid push.
- William
Ha! i wouldn't open my mouth about the storm after the first go 'round. but an android phone there's something. but knowing vzw's track record i just wonder how they are going to screw this phone up.
- rob sakowitz
If it weren't Android 2.0 with a full keyboard, 5mp camera, and Verizon 3G I might not have taken notice. I think Apple is ripe for plucking and this might well be it. Of course, there are 85,000 reasons not to leave the iPhone. The Android marketplace has a lot of catching up to do but at least it's an open platform.
- Leo Laporte
Bill, avoid the ad hominem attacks, and actually discuss what was in the link. All of those critiques are valid and important. Only apple Kool-Aid could make someone say a mission critical feature like multiple apps running isn't important.
- Matthew DeVries
I-don't care for the Android interface. Unless they've made it actually functional in *some* respect, then it's kinda pointless to advertise it. Also, bashing the touchscreen keyboard is a bad idea. Many people like it. I can go with either, myself, but a lot of people have gotten used to, and prefer, the touchscreen. With auto-correction that actually works, it's just as fast, if not faster.
- Otto
The fact that most of the discussion of Droid I've seen doesn't even mention the Palm Pre... except perhaps to say that Droid uses the same chipset... just reinforces my view that all the talk of de-throning the iPhone is a little pointless, and instead we're going to have fragmented, niche alternatives to the "mainstream" option, the iPhone.
- Ken Sheppardson
The people who are going to lash back at Apple are already doing so. Things aren't going to get any worse. AT&T is as bad as it'll ever be. The app store is as closed as it's going to get. Apple has nowhere to go but up, in that respect. While the geeked-out vocal minority might march off on some anti-Apple crusade, I don't see how "Anti-Apple Backlash" crosses the chasm, so to speak.
- Ken Sheppardson
Android and webOS are to iPhone what Linux and OS X are to Windows.
- Ken Sheppardson
I think the "openness" issue only matters to a tiny segment of their audience. There are 85K apps for the iPhone in just over 2 years. What is the upside of openness from a user perspective? At some point, it's all just meaningless techno-babble.
- Kevin Pedraja
Matthew, you need to read before you comment. I wasn't responding to the link in Leo's post. I was responding to Leo's post itself, and his "Anti-Apple Backlash" rhetoric. There was nothing ad-hominem in my "attacks" either. He has had this weird 'Apple is evil' thing going for a while now, and I think it's over the top and reflected in this post. And I said it before and I'll say it again: why do potentially great products that compete with Apple have to spur an Anti-Apple backlash?
- Bill Heald
You are again bundling ad hominem attacks in your statement that you're not making ad hominem attacks. Discuss the points of the post on it's merits. If you want to pull out a "Leo hates Apple" conspiracy theory, make your own post.....so I can hide it.
- Matthew DeVries
Imagine how easy it is to fool the public when governments and mainstream media establishments really put their mind to it: Saddam Hussein was behind 9/11 and the 9/11 anthrax attacks, WTC 7 was brought down by fire, etc. Human beings in the mass are infinitely susceptible to hypnotic suggestion, hoaxes, illusions, delusions, legerdemain, crude propaganda and other forms of psychological manipulation.
- Sean McBride
can somebody explain what was that? what happened 15/10/09?? O_o
- morose
Sean, I don't have to imagine it. But what would be good to imagine is how easy it is to not buy into that manipulation etc.
- Chris Heath
Chris -- in my experience, it is very difficult for most people -- even people who consider themselves to be intelligent, well-educated and skeptical -- not to be manipulated by sustained mainstream media propaganda campaigns.
- Sean McBride
That's because they watch TV all the time. It's really easy to shield yourself from these types of 'campaigns' ... just turn off the idiot box!
- Chris Heath
Chris -- I stopped watching all cable TV news years ago -- I receive all my news from the best feeds on the planet, all of which have been well ahead of the curve in debunking the nonsensical propaganda being dished out by Fox News, CNN, The New York Times, The Washington Post and the usual suspects. But I am guessing that fewer than 5% of Americans share my proclivities. The mainstream...

Actually, I will remember, because I was twittering with other New Orleanians who were disappointed that a helium balloon allegedly carrying a 6-yr-old boy had preempted the 9-yr-old Tyren's question to Obama why people hated him, when God is love. Maybe(!) that was staged as well, but he was earnest. I'm just glad child protection services are being called in, and Falcon and his brothers will get the help they obviously need.

"It’s my impression that many straight people believe that there are two types of gay men in this world: those who like to give, and those who like to receive. No, I’m not referring to the relative generosity or gift-giving habits of homosexuals. Not exactly, anyway. Rather, the distinction concerns gay men’s sexual role preferences when it comes to the act of anal intercourse. But like most aspects of human sexuality , it’s not quite that simple."

“Heads snapped. The House chamber took a collective gasp. Nancy Pelosi, sitting behind Obama, tensed and scowled as if she had just witnessed a crime, her disgust unhidden. [The President] looked to his left, adjusted his arm, part nervous twitch, part macho posturing, and shot back at Wilson..”

“At the moment Wilson exploded, the outburst seemed like an assault on the President. Soon afterward, it was clear that it had been a gift. Wilson had, in an emotional expression, proven Obama's point: the summer of town halls had been less a discussion than a circus, a forum where misinformation was vindicated by passion, where disrespect was elevated to a virtue. Now the circus had come inside Congress.”
- Anthony Citrano
Gee, if only there was a 'bill' that one could 'read' to determine the truth and thus, who was lying.
- Andrew C
@Andrew: the President wasn't talking about a bill. He was talking about his proposal. Thus, it's remarkably easy to determine the veracity of both statements.

We as a nation are twisted and broken after 8 years of war against everyone and everything that the socail fabric of our community is so frayed that we are less worried about literally millions of people who have no care but instead we would scuttle an entire programf or fear and jeaolusy and hatred of a brown "other' who might unsderservedly take advantage of our considerable largesse....

Woah, if you option+click the finder icon you can hide the application that has focus. I'm going be option clicking stuff all day!
- Joshua Schnell
If you option click an icon in your dock it hides everything else but that application. Edit: I lied. First option click brings it to the front, and a second hides everything else. It seems to be sporadic. *shrugs*

The sync icon gives a couple extra options as well.

Try holding ⌘ and dragging those menubar items around as well.

Matt, that's a great tip as well. I wish it worked for non-apple specific icons though. :(

I have a sneaking suspicion that the non-apple icons aren't using an Apple API (and that there probably isn't even an API available for that).
