I wonder, if the top say 15 businesses in the US tossed money together, what percentage of their worth would they all have to contribute to cut the national debt in half?
That would make an interesting reference question--but based on one source, at least, the top 9 U.S. companies (in terms of cash on hand, since "worth" really doesn't work) only add up to 1.1 trillion dollars, so, the answer is probably "several hundred percent." - Walt Crawford
