I am sorry, but Churchill was the greatest phony of the 20th century and what he did to the middle east was unconscionable. A rootless human being who thought the British were better than anyone else and did not say much about his other half which was American. He contributed a great deal to the mess we have in the middle east and sucked everyone dry and had no value for human beings...

What he did does not make the quote worth less. And yes, there are other quotes by him which are truly horrible, but have you given it a thought that people may have quoted his words here and/or liked them solely for what they mean and not for the person he was? The same goes, for instance, the nazi connotations for Heidegger, being fond of his work does not mean subcribing to his political views.
