What in the rational world would cause someone to think that this should be a good picture to take and post online? Does the NRA have a clothing-optional branch?

Right from the outset, I do not use Traffic-Bug. Furthermore, I do not think any self-respecting individual should either. Using Traffic-Bug is the equivalent of crapping where you eat. The ultimate outcome of Traffic Bug and services like it will be to negate any positive effect of social media in boosting one's ranking in the major indices. I'm actually embarassed for Ed Dale to see...

I obviously completly disagree. You confuse traffic bug a tool that automates a mind numbly boring task with a service that vomits bullshit links - I HATE that stuff. Traffic Bug is a great piece of software and is actually completly the. Opposite of what you describe.

Let me see if I understand this correctly: Mike Roberts & Co. create an unknown/undisclosed number of dummy accounts in an unknown/undisclosed number of social bookmarking sites, and they sell the service of allowing their Twitter Bug subscribers to 'piggyback' on this untold number of dummy accounts to effect the spread of the all important backlinks. The negative impact of this...

Sam - it creates one bookmark per site - it just auto area a mind numbingly boring tast which every problogger has to do. If it was making multiple bookmarks per site - I'm with you - hate that stuff. Your mind is made up. I back myself and my record 100 percent. I stuff up from time to time - when I do happy to acknowledge it. Traffic Bug is not one of those times.

Ed, you know as well as I do, that nothing good comes without effort. What this approach allows for is absolute abuse of social media. Perhaps it is better for the Internet and Social Media *as a whole* if such practices were not encouraged? Think about it. Yes, it makes one bookmark/link per submission, but 100 pennies make a dollar too... This is a classic case of an industry move...

Hey Sam, there really isn't much to say as you are so set in stone on your own opinion. Which is fine everyone has the right to their own opinions and no one is twisting your arm to use the software. However, I completley disagree with your opinion. You say nothing good comes without effort, but that is far from the truth. Technologies whole goal is to make life easier. Cars make it so...

Michael, I certainly wouldn't expect you to take any other position, it is your "service" after all. :p As for technology making life easier, I am all for that, but I do have a problem with the 'aftereffects' of some of our conveniences, i.e. driving instead of walking to the corner store can/does contribute to obesity, and I'm sure you'll agree that obesity has many negative effects....

Traffic Bug doesn't post to social media other than bookmarking sites, which don't count for much in rankings already. Near as I can tell, TB links are fairly low-quality. It might get your site indexed faster, but it doesn't really seem to help with ranking. I'm doubtful about the long-term value of the service.
- Bob Ress
Hi Bob, Thanks for the feedback on this question. Frankly, what I'm most concerned about is the ethos that the TB approach de facto endorses. I think it's the wrong message for Ed to be sending out. The 30DC is just fine without TB and "services" like it. As far as I'm concerned TB is a cash grab of the lowest order and Ed should not be promoting it, especially if he values his...
