And this makes opt-in genetic databases all the more dangerous for people to participate in, doesn't it? (Though I realize it's easier to get someone's DNA from a cup they just drank from, as the NYT article says.) Like 23andme, for example? Or the Personal Genome Project?
- Jason Miller
Jason, adding this news to the possibility of genetic discrimination from a DNA data breach still should give one pause about the services. We need stronger legal protections for DNA, after all you can't change it if it's abused.

The upshot is clear and bears repeating; the purpose of a system is what it does, and what this one does is to pollute the information environment with drivel so as to influence your judgement. Of course they are lying, and of course they are talking nonsense. It's what they do; they managed to invade Iraq like that, perhaps the most successful exercise in political manipulation in recent history.

So-called high performing schools in affluent communities that [Richard Elmore] works in often seem very similar to low-performing schools in low-income communities, and very unlike successful schools in low-income communities.

I just ran the Friendfeed twitter friends finder and it says it found 5745 more friends that are already using FriendFeed. Should I hit the Subscribe button or just pick and choose?
I say pick and choose. I only got like 73 and culled. Not everyone on Twitter is saying something all time. I should know. I'm one of those people. :) Besides, it's kind of frustrating to reply to someone on Twitter via FF knowing they're not going to come here to join the conversation.
- Admiral Anika
Pick and choose. Saves you a lot of headache later on.

I just did the same thing but brought them into a new list called "twitter import" figured I could determine how active they are (if at all) before moving them to my home feed.
- Mark Krynsky
It really depends on what you are trying to get out of it. I would probably just pick and choose
- Adam Martin
I just updated mine, and found out I wasn't subscribed to wayne! Like Mark, I have a twitter list for this purpose, but I try to move people out of that list into one of my "main" lists eventually.
- Rob Diana
put them in a new list called "Twitter Imports" so that they're not all in your Home Feed. Then you can see who actually participates on FriendFeed and move them into your Home Feed accordingly
- Nathan Chase
Great idea Nathan. AAA ball club waiting for a call up to the bigs. [edit] Just did this ... an interesting experiment for me.
- AJ Kohn
I put all of those that I know to be active on Twitter into a special list. Will import the other 400 something into my Twitter Peeps list, then pick and choose from level of activity on Twitter and FF.
- Sharon McPherson
I added 1300 people in a few seconds, quite interesting to watch the group I put them in scroll! If people subsribe back I move them to a new group.
- Mike Nencetti
just me but I would add everyone...im crazy like that :)
