what do you think? i dont like the mulitplayer as much, too easy to earn higher ranks and the game version...still getting my thoughts together on that
- JCANCU
I think they've outdone the original in almost every respect... while I hear you about ranking up, I think the new system is better at consistently rewarding you for everything you do -- from long shot kills, to taking revenge. I only lament that they now have so many levels for things that I will be up all hours for the rest of the year trying to achieve it all :)

"Overlay sites/experiences are great - and hold much more promise - but it's gotta be dead simple... you also really need well-planned support to get the experience popped out in a big way (unless you have uber traffic at your beckon call... in which case, good for you!). GirlSmiles is by far the best example thus far, though moving into gaming could really break out. Also reference: http://www.playballoonacy.com/ I'd also put Glue loosely in this category -- different approach, but still: http://getglue.com/"

"A long time ago in a galaxy not too far away, I introduced something called the "Planetary Model of Primary Politics". It is basically just a fancy way of noting that there are generally two dimensions by which candidates position themselves in Presidential primaries. One is along an ideological axis (liberal/conservative). The other is what I then called an institutional axis -- whether a candidate seeks to work within existing institutions or to reform them. I now conceive of the institutional axis as more of a populist axis. Does the candidate stress his connections within the elite, usually expressed in terms of his purported experience, competence, or technical knowledge? Or is he an "outsider" who claims to represent the people in contradiction to the elite? Is he a technocrat or a populist?"

How can Palin still be in any universe!? Let's hope Romney stops acting like a faux-servative pandering to the most radical corners of the base, and embraces why people DID want to vote for him -- to turn around a party that's lost its way.
- Matt Griswold
"Yeah, that person didn't give me any way to cite them -- because they put it in an email that, while appreciated, is not handy for citation or social conversation."
- Matt Griswold
interesting to know your ages...what relationship experince you have had... not in depth..just.. you know. sean808080 said it best i think lol
- Rob Sellen :o)
I like being spoiled but I don't expect it every day b/c I know how hard it is to work & save money so when I am spoiled I make sure hubby knows it's appreciated. That's high maintenance in both sides ;)
- Zulema ◕ ◡ ◕
from BuddyFeed
High maintenance is okay, but it can be highly annoying at times. I'm going to say it's a bit of both.
- Christian (Simply X)
Bah, false. I don't look at women like a financial investment.I like the ones I like, and damned be the investment
- Mo Kargas
So waht about emotionally high maintenance?
- Mona Nomura
from IM
false....:o) emotional one is the worse.
- Rob Sellen :o)
Ok, so I am low maintenance (emotionally and materialistically). I either: a) pick the wrong ones or b) am too low maintenance because my super duper high maintenance gfs are in really good relationships, while I always end up screwed haha. According to them, guys really like high maintenance chicks.
- Mona Nomura
from IM
maybe like tina said... act like that at times... ;o) IE when its appropiate for the ego stroke! ;o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
False! Totally false. Yet I'm engaged to a high maintenance girl. Sigh...
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
No, that's the thing - I LOOK high maintenance but I'm not. But I am doing something wrong because I end up with selfish jerks LOL
- Mona Nomura
from IM
Oh I knew exactly what I wanted. I went out and got it. Now I have it and I'm happy.
- Tad
I don't care what I want, it's about what I need
- Bwana ☠
looking and seeming it are to different things ;o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
HELL, no. A girl that is high-maintenance just means she's a pain in the ass and expects me to do everything for her without doing the same in return. If I want something high-maintenance, I'll get a vintage car or buy Twitter.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
this discussion baffles me. how could anyone like someone who was high maintenance? takes all kinds, i guess.
- Nathan Rein
I forgot what the question was ~ lol per Rasheen's Twitter zinger. And on vintage car thing, how can you forget the line/scene, "When Cameron was in Egypt's land...let my Cameron go!" http://www.imdb.com/title... (yes, this is random, as my mind is free to wander having a non-high maintenance relationship)
- Micah Wittman
for the record...i cant stand high maintenance chicks.
- Carlos Ayala
Is it possible low maintenance attracts guys who are lazy in the romance dept?
- Shirley Wu
I still say there's a difference between looking high maintenance and acting high maintenance The two may often go hand in hand, but they don't have to.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Guys digging high-maintenance chicks is one of those falsehoods promoted by romance comedies.
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
ONLY for so long spidra..experience tells me that ;o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
@Spidra Not all of us. I don't put up with BS from anyone but my relatives, and that's only because they'll cause me even more grief. (Some days, I think I was born into a clan of internet trolls. Other days, I know.)
- Chris, Taskerrific Guy
Absolutely false....at least for me. High maintenance = issue-fest.
- Chris Luckhardt
i think it depends on how you define maintenance. i love the spa, totally moisturize head to toe, love bliss scrubs, good lingerie, to be dressed well. guys seem to be ok with this kind of high maintenance. the drama type though no.
- Patricia
bring on the high maintenance chicks!
- Carlos Ayala
I've never seen any pictures of low maintenance women posted here by any men.
- Trish R
I'll put up with it with women under 30. It doesn't age well. Not that women under 30 would have anything to do with me. ;)
- Oldengrey (Jay)
Can't believe this would be true. My husband just said to me last weekend that he's glad I'm not like other wives, nagging him and stuff all the time. I get the impression he enjoys my rather low maintenance self.
-
And its only yours and your hubby's opinon that matters on it jilly... ;o) so ya both got it right. :-D
- Rob Sellen :o)
i have a feeling you mean "pay attention to." low maintenance is likely preferable in itself, but a low maintenance person is easily dismissed. i know nothing of this area of life, though, so i'm just guessing.
- idnan
I was happy to hear him say that. I really try to be considerate of him and not crank at him too much when I'm feeling out-of-sorts because he's very rarely the cause. Even if he is, cranking at him doesn't solve anything.
-
did ya tell him what ya love about him too? :o)
- Rob Sellen :o)
There's nothing wrong with girls who like shiny things, but to me being "high maintenance" means that they're needy emotionally. Bad.
- Will Higgins™
disagree with Jason - I love to look at the high maintenance ones, and I like hanging out with them too.
- Anthony Citrano
Low maintenance with a splash of high maintenance in them. Not too much or i will leave them by the side of the road. (Maybe that is why i am still single)!
- Amani
A high-maint chick EXPECTS me to pay for her nails, hair and feet. A chick I would actually like APPRECIATES that kind of treatment.
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I think girls should at least supply their own feet, Rah.
- Oldengrey (Jay)
another vote for Tinas comment, spot on!
- Peter Efland
Actually the answer is no. It kind of reminds me of this G4 thing about dealing with girls who are crazy, yet who are hot. So I say it's a personal scale with a crazy to hotness ratio. Usually 3:1. My scale would have to be 5:1 or 6:1 on that though.
- Shawn aka ringking
I can emphatically tell you from personal experience with other men that this is patently false.
- Helen Sventitsky
False. But then I've only ever given my heart willingly to one girl, she's trouble but it's the spark within her that draws me to her. That and I'm trouble too so we're a great matching, it's never boring ;) I've had "high maintentance" girls apparently show interest in me, I say apparently because I never noticed it. I only know because others told me "you do know she likes you right?"
- alphaxion
i think the mechanism is that once you have sacrificed a lot to something - be it a demanding girl or a religion - you find it a lot harder to let go
- Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)
i can barely maintain myself. how the heck am i supposed to deal with a high maintenance girl?
- Imabug
People say they want a girl in jeans and no makeup, but most of the times, that's false.
- Mona Nomura
I'd tend to agree with you Mona. At least at first. Thinking about the bar scene, it's the beautiful girls with the flawless make-up and fancy outfits who get the attention, not the make-up less girl in jeans and a t-shirt with her hair pulled up in a quick ponytail.
-
It's not constrained to the bar scene - even the supermarket or a coffee shop, restaurant. Unfortunately, our society is driven by outward appearances.
- Mona Nomura

And the gym. Don't forget about the make-up worn at a place where it's intended for you to sweat.
- Katie is Frittering
@Jilly I dunno. I like those girls, something sexy about it. :)
- Jason Shultz
from twhirl
I don't get the make-up and working-out/playing sports. Girls would do their powder right before a soccer match and I would just gawk at them. Ewwww.
- Katie is Frittering
There are two types of high maintenance: emotional and material. Emotional can be difficult but tend to be more intelligent and caring. Material tends to be superficial and cold. I prefer women who are emotionally high maintenance. Of course, there are exceptions to every rule.
- Paul
Actually, I am caring but called cold, since I tend to be more rational than emotional.
- Mona Nomura
from IM
agreed re: makeup. i absolutely hate the look of lipstick (unless it's a natural color)
- cjmart
Jason, I find women that are emotionally high maintenance more passionate and romantic, which I'm attracted to being rather passionate and a bit of a romantic myself. Women and men who are materially high maintenance tend to use emotions and sensuality as bargaining chips.
- Paul
It may just come down to finding a compatible partner.
- Mona Nomura
Mona, have been doing too much hand holding with buddies lately - they go for the pretty (but high maintenance) gal for their egos and secretly long for the low maintenance tomboy in a baseball cap. LOL or should that be a big sigh ;-)
- Sally Church
www.hotchickswithdouchebags.com that's to Sally's comment re: deserving each other.

here I'd I'd like to add a very wise & sage quote on what men want: "A Lady in the street & a freak in the bed, YEAH, YEAH...shorty got down..." - Usher Raymond. So yes guys wanna girl to show off.
- sofarsoShawn
Missed this one. And it certainly doesn't need another comment. But I will add that I am in NO position to determine what guys like. If I did, I might be somewhere else entirely.

That is not a vote of confidence... it's akin to using buckshot when you know you can't hit your target with a rifle. These numbers don't tell the story; but enjoy them at your own discretion.

"Laurel - what an amazing comment! Thank you. It's only taken me so long to reply because there's so much meat in there it's worthy of a further post -- which I intend to get to once I'm back to a regular schedule. I'll do the best I can here. I definitely think this ties to the nature/nurture debate - which is one of my favorites by the way, because it's an eternal spectrum of gray. To crime: it's greater in large cities but that's on a gross basis... and I'm not sure it ties to population in any way, except that more people drive the numbers (this is one I am hungry for more research on so if you find any please send my way and I'll post it!). To that same point, media (in your case news media) is a big driver not just of our perceptions of crime, but also of ourselves and our environment. I'm curious to see stats plotting media consumption vis-a-vis self perception. To your point about socialized services, we differ primarily in our answer to common "big city problems". To be..."

"Yes, it's a convoluted question without a definitive answer -- and I'm not sure if I should be offended or honored by being declared "THE MAN" (it's been a hard week, so I'm taking it as a compliment - thank you). To get personal for a moment: life in Los Angeles has definitely influenced me to some degree. The views of lifelong friends that remained in suburbia becomes more foreign by the day -- not that I don't understand, and even agree with, their views; but my place has influenced my perspective. I have most frequently chosen to hold onto my firm beliefs ("go capitalism!"), even if that means standing alone (it often does) -- but I still feel at home here because I share many other values with the community. So we give and take; and the question remains unanswered."
