I have to say that I'm not a great fan of Michael Hutchence. There was no-one to touch Freddie. Every time I see Hutchence's name I can't help seeing visions of his strange death 8-o

I love them both I spent many an hour growing up locked in my bedroom listening and dreaming! Freddie had it all the voice the charisma and of course the shear brilliance of all the queen band. As for Michael as Paul Weller sang (You Do Something To Me) he just did it for me, everything about him from his music to his look and of course his air of danger :)

Anyone know if there's a way to get a description into a /category/ page? ie a page whose url is like this: www(dot)mykeyword/category/categorykeyword . I want to get full onpage optimization for the page in the SEO Competition matrix, and Desc is all I'm missing.
in the blog settings (wp-admin) there is a permalinks section you can play around with. http://codex.wordpress.org/Using_P... You can put a description prefix before your category. Or you could go all hacker style and just customize the mod_rewrite part in your .htaccess file ;)
- Jorge Blanco
Lol that last one is beyond my skills Jorge :). Re "You can put a description prefix before your category" in the permalinks section - can you give an example of what that would be? How would adding to the permalink create a Desc optimization for a keyword? As I understand it, the Desc in Market Samurai's SEO Competition matrix comes from the All In One SEO Pack plugin description (I already have the keyword in the url).
- Isha (Marysia)
In case I was unclear, I didn't mean I want to put a description in the url - I want to make a description for the page.
- Isha (Marysia)
If you go to your WP admin dashboard, then go to Categories (under the post module) there is a text box for the category description. You can also click the "Edit" link on an existing category to get to the description text box. **Heres the bummer though** Not all themes show a category description.....This is right from the WP cat description text box --"The description is not prominent by default, however some themes may show it." :(

You can use %postname% in the custom permalinks section and then use your keywords as part of the post title and it would automatically appear as part of the url, all indexed.
- TrafficBug
@TrafficBug, it's already in the url. I was asking about getting it into the Desc ie Description

Pardon me for being so ignorant still: Should I be typing something into my "Send trackbacks to" section in my WP, & if so what? I'm building an authority site so I want make sure I take advantage of everything going. Also the Excerpts box - is that important (I think Google takes from that box if the All In One SEO Pack hasn't been completed?)
In your WP Settings/Discussion Settings area, right at the top, you'll find an option "Attempt to notify any blogs linked to from the article (slows down posting)" - which means, if not ticked, you need to fill out the trackback section in each post manually to send trackbacks.
- Melanie Langenhan
The excerpt can be used i.e. on the main page of a site, it's not about SEO like the meta description. Excerpt content is a teaser for readers, meta descriptions show up in SERP and should be optimized for SEO.
- Melanie Langenhan
Thanks for your help Melanie. So if I didn't tick the "Attempt to notify..." option, what would I put in the trackback section - would I put in the url of the post, or would I put in the comments url, or something else?
- Isha (Marysia)
I'm none the wiser from reading that: "You can also handle your trackbacks/pingbacks on a per post basis — this will also override the setting in your options panel. From the Write->Post screen, make sure there is a check next to “Allow Pings” in the Discussion box." Anyone know how folks work out what url they put into the "Send trackbacks to" section of their wp-admin? I also notice...

Your trackback is usually your "full" post title but needs to end with /trackback/ and like any linking URL must also start with http:// ..If you go to your last post page on your samurai blog, just after your Tags, you will see along with the RSS link text "Trackback" is also there. Right click on it then select "copy link location" Paste into notebook and you will see what your...

Ron you are a treasure. Thank you for this. Looks like WP Direct has set it up so that it looks a bit different from regular WP & I just wasn't seeing the house for the trees, or the wood for the bear in the shit or something ;). I now promise to study my WP for Dummies this week so that I can stop asking stupido questions :) .
- Isha (Marysia)
Interestingly, when I copy the url for the Trackback on my last post it doesn't end in "/trackback/" lol. It just ends in "postname/" How bizarree...:D
- Isha (Marysia)
Where are you copying it from? In the browser address bar it will be just your post URL, but at the end of your post after your post tags in the quote box, if you hover over Trackbacks it will show your post title w/trackback/ after it in the status bar or if you Rt Click on it and "copy link location" it will have it in the URL which you can check by pasting it in notepad.The...

So it does. Didn't see it in the status bar because the post url is so long, but I see it when I choose "copy link location". I'd opted for the "open link in new tab" right-click option - & here I wuz all these years thinking that the "open link in new tab" url was the same url as the "copy link location" one. Thank you Ron ♥♥♥ :)) Back to WP for Dummies...

Some fascinating discussion going on there. Thanks for sharing

Your welcome, Buff, Lisa. I was wondering how interested others would be. I think that the content is ok, but really the main reason I did it was to help the 30DC community spirit.
- Tim Brennan
You and Maria have done a nice job there Tim - thank you.
- Isha (Marysia)
We were there nearly 3 and a half hours. Then Enzo & I stopped off at Liverpool Street Station and gassed further for another hour or so. A very enjoyable meet-up and I look forward to many more.

Here's some more info about this video - "5 of us had a meetup at the good old British Museum in London's West End. We chatted for 3 hours about all sorts related to the Thirty Day Challenge. The experience interesting and encouraging. Towards the end of the meetup, we decided to stage a bit of chat for the camera. I shot about 17 minutes which I've spit into 2 parts. As you can see the...

Despite the video camera being very close to the action, the audio it picked up was not good at all. It picked up loads of background hubbub which drowned out the conversation. The iRiver audio quality was twice as good. "

In case anyone's wondering where the 5th person is, Maria's holding the camera & a great job she's done too.
- Isha (Marysia)
Nice video Tim. Looking forward to the next meet up.
- Enzo Vullo
I never knew there was a meet up in London. Would like to join you for the next one. Where do you post the info? I don't check FF much but will keep an eye out now.

Amazing I can not believe that he could still produce such quality work at age 99, loved the bit at the end when he just couldn't seem to stop.
