China authors says Google violated copyrights | Technology | Reuters - http://www.reuters.com/article...
"A group representing authors in China has accused Google of violating copyrights with its digital library, a claim that Google denies by saying the service complies with international law." - Matt G from Bookmarklet
Wait... lemme get this straight... the Chinese are claiming copyright infringement? Is this the same China where we had to lock up all of our software and manuals overnight when working on consulting projects there? Lest we discover that they'd all been duplicated during the 6 or so hours that we weren't at the project office? Is this the same China where the "key" devices for our "locked" $40,000 software application mysteriously stopped working because someone had physically opened them up (and thus wiped out the UV sensitive EEPROM inside) in a botched attempt to duplicate them? It is? Okay then, just checking. - Mark It's 2000-Oh-1-Oh J
Delicious irony isn't it. Still you can't necessarily blame these authors for that. I am nothing if not fair I posted this the other day - http://friendfeed.com/gutt0... - Matt G
Yeah, it is VERY ironic. But you're right that the individual authors should expect the U.S. to honor international law. Though a bit of reciprocity would be nice. - Mark It's 2000-Oh-1-Oh J
