Acorns Agone?, im hoping this lull in the room is because,..... 2 of you have made millions and left us, one of you is an internet youtube star!, and the others are so busy doing podcasts/videos/post that you cant comments!, if so BRILLIANT!!...., as for me.......well........im here alone..........
Thats a great idea Michael!!!, email me;)). And as for the rest of the room I dont know where they are, I think they are niche spies!??;)), now they have all our info and will CRUSH us!!.
- Elliot Webb
I'm here, or here abouts - spend more time at the other room but struggling to find time in the week (full time work, part time job, extra training days, part time studies!!!) I really need to make some money with the 30DC so i can afford to spend some time with the 30DC ?!?! Catch 22!
- David
I'll definitely have more time over weekend - catch you all later.
- David
I've gotten backed up with regular work. Next week is looking pretty full too. I'm still looking for a new niche. What does the market want? That is the question.
- Guy J. Michaelson
I am still around and I must say I fit into all of those categories ... IN MY DREAMS ... but seriously I have kinda over committed myself with 2 websites, 3 newsletters, the 30DC vids, the blog I have started as a result of 30DC and the community project I started for a friend as a result of 30DC. I think I will resurface soon.
- Leigh
Elliot, Still here, just busy doing the 30dc a second time.
- BillRoze
Guys, I need your opinion. Please help me make a decision. I've heard many time from gurus that it's important to put an audio on a website -- for many reasons. Here's my problem...
I have a strong accent (I've been told "5 on a scale from 1 to 10"). Should I still go ahead and make an audio or should I stay away from audio because it's going to hurt instead of helping conversion and trust. I need an honest opinion on that. Thank you.
- Rita
You can have someone else do the voice. Write your copy and have them read it.
- Guy J. Michaelson
I have an accent too (I am Dutch) But people are telling me they like the accent. I don't think it's a problem. And first of all: it's YOU and YOU on like to know!!!
- Madeleine van Rossem
If you are selling something that you have created, do the voice yourself so that your customers know that you are a real person and feel like they "know" you.
- Peter Johnson
I don't have any accent at all. Should I get one?
- Andy Roberts
People love accents. As long as you can be understood it doesn't matter about an accent. This is a global market so everyone sounds different. If you are linked to your product (i.e. you are the person behind it - not a pen name) then using your own voice will help people to feel they know you
- Lisa
I only have an accent after watching too much Dr. Who -- and it's a bad one. But I would think an accent is a selling point; and I do love to listen to them. Maybe you could put up a test mp3, let us friends listen to it . . . just to see if stupid Americans can understand you. If so, you're golden! If not, you can keep brainstorming.
- LJF Wolffe

- Andy Roberts
Tee hee hee. I'm a Whovian from way back: "I can be very dangerous when I don't know what I'm doing." -- Tom Baker
- LJF Wolffe
Hi Rita I imagine seasoned marketers will split test this...one group pitched to with your accent one group pitched with another accent, even split test that again????Check the actual stats and go with it???I'm not speaking from experience so its just an idea...
- Ruth Howard
Thank you so much, guys, for your replies! :) You're the greatest! People don't seem to have any problems understanding me when I speak. After all, I am a technical trainer. A darn good one :) The reason I asked this question is that strangers seem sometimes taken aback by me not being native... *** I am going to sell my own product, but it's about 80% ready at the moment. So, at the moment I only sell as an affiliate. I'll try to make a test mp3. And eventually I will split-test -- as soon as I can bring..
- Rita
(cont) traffic to a decent level. Thank you again for your great advice!
- Rita
Hi Guy, Do you have Market Samurai?, you can check competing sites for your keyword using that.
- Elliot Webb
I want to check the accuracy of MS against something else. MS told me the seot was 500. When I checked the #1 site in Spyfoo it said 0.2 clicks a day. So I need to find out which one is accurate. Any thoughts?
- Guy J. Michaelson
I agree Guy. MS told me the SEOT on one of my niches would be 300 but when I obtained the #1 spot I was only getting 20ish. Please keep me posted if you can test it's accuracy.
- Michael Roberts
I would say you need a new blog. Unless your current blog is closely related. Then maybe could edit it and make it work. Either way you need a new keyword phrase.
- Guy J. Michaelson
I think the QUICKEST was to test a new market is adwords, as it can be set up in a few minutes, and active immediately. Having said that, you can get in the search listings pretty quick using web 2.0 tactics, and rss feeds, so maybe a blog IS just as quick...certainly less expensive.
- Alex Melkonian
Hi all. I'm coming to the 30DC a little late (just finishing up the pre-season). Wondered if there were any other loners out there interested in forming a web team?
Hey Blake, yeah I'm at the same point. Just finished the pre-train and starting on the 30DC now. I'd be interested in getting in a team. Let me know.
- Gregory Brassil
I'm interested. I'm trying to catch up too. How do teams work?
- Rosemary
I'm just starting Day 2 and still trying to figure out out these teams work. I'm interested too!
- Ingrid Owens
Blake I am nearly at that point and sure would like to join up.
- dale
Great! Looks like we have ourselves a team. I've set up a private room for everyone involved and will be sending you invites in just a minute. If anyone else is interested send me a message and I'll invite you too. And if anyone wants to give suggestions for getting the most out of a team please let us know. :)
- Blake Roussel
I've only a couple to go on Pre-season. Would like to join you
- Suzie
Hiya Blake, me too! I just completed pre-season yesterday! Would love to join the team.
- Victoria Player
Check out the Acorn room, we all recently started too.
- Guy J. Michaelson
Hi Blake! Count me in, I'm a newbie, just finishing up pre-season today, and starting the 30DC tomorrow. Let's form a tribe. - Meri
- Meri Arjumand
Hi Blake, me too. Room for one more? Loner in IM is Not Fun!
- Susan
im finishing up the preseason just now lol. keep in touch with me for teams. @patrickjlaffey
- Patrick
So far 35 clicks on my affiliate offer, but no takers yet, last night I added 2 more products, a new affiliate offer, and changed the sale offer words a bit, so lets see.....
- Elliot Webb
Did you put your links on here Elliot - have looked but maybe i'm missing an obvious link. Are the clicks from google traffic (if you can tell)?
- David
It must be a great feeling to be on page 1 - you'll know that the traffic has been looking for your information specifically - great stuff!
- David
Hey guys, I've finished putting together my blog; and put a couple articles on. [I chose not to use wordpressdirect because I wanted a bit more freedom...] ((I posted this on the Thirty Day Challenge room last night too)) - http://thesneakystudent.com
Hey Acorners, Here is something we can all do for each other. List your sites, lens, hubs. Then we all visit them, post comments and our own links. That should build back links like crazy.
Mary, you just post a link instead of a message.
- Guy J. Michaelson
Good Idea Guy, worth a shot anyway. My site is http://www.richhowto.com -How to Rich, Check it out book mark it and leave a comment with your own link, make sure you include your anchor text! Please give my site a thumbs up in stumble as well. I will do the same for any others who post their sites on this thread! =)
- Michael Roberts
Guy great idea. How ever keep in mind not to just put in links. Add content as Ed would say. I'll look at all that post and if I can add to the content I will do so. http://flashtips.brighterplanet.org/
- BillRoze
Good idea, ill stumble and comment on these links later;)).
- Elliot Webb
Hi, Ive posted comments and stumbled for you, and by the way well done!, all your sites I probably would have done so anyway, very interesting topics, heres one of mine if you get the chance. http://www.classicalguitarsblog.com/
- Elliot Webb
Sounds like a great idea - I've been looking and stumbling, but not commenting so i'll get onto that too. Here's mine http://www.radiocontrolledtrucksblog.com . All comments, stumbles and bookmarks appreciated.
- David
Congratulations Guy! Very exciting. How many days did it take? I have had a huge variation from site to site. My first one took 4 hours for 1st place and my second one hasn't been indexed at all and it's been over a week.
- Michael Roberts
I got my blog up. Now I just need to get my articles written and put on the blog. I need to figure out how to add the affiliate product. It will be a little bit different from what was shown in Day 6 videos since I am using WordPress, not WordPress Direct.
Mary, from my research on the Wordpress forums it appears affiliates are not allowed yet on Wordpress blogs. I have seen a few blogs deleted for having them. Plus I have heard that the code is very difficult to place due to the fact that they are not allowed. Am I wrong? Does anyone know?
- Susan
Mary, you should sign up for WordPressDirect. It is not to expensive and should pay it's own monthly subscription in a matter of a month or two. Very easy program to use makes setting up a site very quick. Just a thought! =)
- Michael Roberts
I already have a domain name registered and am signed up with hostgator so there should not be any extra charges. I am going to try to work with it. I will check out whether I can add an affiliate product on it. If not, I am sure that I could just link to it.
- Mary Tenhulzen
I have not done anything other than put the template on it. It is www.coloradohikingblog.com. Any comments are appreciated.
- Mary Tenhulzen
Since my last post here, I have gone back to using the default blog template and also put my first article online. Please let me know what you think about the article. Does it need to be longer?
- Mary Tenhulzen
Hi Mary, The site looks very neat. Love the color scheme. Just thought I would mention that you should try to track your links using the info on day 7 vids. It really helps to see what people are doing and also shortens the URL for you. Good work so far!
- Scott Mackenzie
Could I have your thoughts please on the next best name when mykeyword.com is taken? my-keyword.com mykeyword.net or mykeywordblog.com? It's a 2-word keyword. I don't know how google views these 3. Am not so keen on blog because the searchers using this keyword are looking to buy product.
There's also mykeywordsite, bestmykeyword, mykeywordreviews, mymykeyword, etc. I haven't heard anything about .net (my big project is a .net), but I have heard that hyphens are seen as spammy nowadays. (At least many hyphens are. One hyphen is not so bad, just harder to communicate by voice . . .) It's up to you!
- LJF Wolffe
eek! I was trying to narrow it down - I thought I had a choice of 3 for my next best - now I find i have at least 7 - Any takers for one outstanding next best? LJF, are you getting good traffic with .net and getting the same google rankings as you reckon you'd get if you had .com?
- Isha (Marysia)
When you say "searchers using this keyword are looking to buy product" do you mean you think using the word "blog" will deter potential buyers that you want to attract?
- Rosemary
Sorry about that. I didn't mean to add problems! 8-} My .net site is #29 for the KWs in the title, and I've hardly done anything to it; I don't forsee any problems. The only extension I've heard bad things about is .info.
- LJF Wolffe
Thanks LJF - that's great! I have problems sometimes making decisions... Rosemary - I don't know if it would actively deter them but if I'm wanting to buy this product online I wouldn't be clicking on a blog if that was obviously what it was. For example, if I want to buy a book I go to amazon not a blog. It's not the sort of product that you usually want to read up about first - you just want to see the pictures of the ones that are for sale & buy them
- Isha (Marysia)
one of the videos said that .net was the best choice if .com is taken. I think adding to the keyword is just as good (4u2 or best) The keyword is still read. I would stay away from hyphens, people are not going to type them in a search.
- Guy J. Michaelson
Thanks everyone who has replied. I've meanwhile had to make a decision because I was signing up to hostgator, and I went with my-keyword.com but will also buy mykeyword.net. So perhaps I should change the one that I've just signed up to with hostgator to mykeyword.net (I don't know if this is possible?)? While people don't put hyphens in their search terms I'm more concerned about SEO. I missed the 4u2 suggestions earlier because it was sleep-time here...
- Isha (Marysia)
Hi Folks, I'm getting a data base error when loading my blog. Is anyone else getting that? or Know what it's about? I don't know if I did something wrong or if wordpress is having a problem. It was up yesterday.
Hey all, quick question about market samurai...I am sure I could find a video about what it means but thought I would ask the room real quick while Ed_Dale talks in the back ground....what does "OCI" feature mean in MS? It has something to do with Commercially? Whatever that means?
Is it the percentage of likelihood that a customer using this search term will make a purchase? How reliable is that figure? Should we make it a huge factor in choosing our key search phrase?
- Susan
It has to do the percentage of sales on the ctr. Since it ranges from <1% to >90% I would give it considerable weight. It is something that I will track for accuracy.
- Guy J. Michaelson
Thank you Susan and Guy for your feed back. Yes, that seems very important. I would appreciate it if everyone who notes its accuracy to let us know how close or far it was from the truth. I shall track mine. =)
- Michael Roberts
Should I join IE?, 48 hours left to do it. I'm only on day 15 of #30DC, so dont know what to do?, any advice, can do them both together?, is IE basically a bigger version of #30DC?.
Hi Elliot, I've opted not to do the edge thing at this time. It looked to me like it was more geared to those with established niches. By waiting I will miss out on the special but my plate is full. Also I'd like to get some reviews on it.
- Guy J. Michaelson
Yes im with u on this one Guy, ill finish 30DC, then see where I am from there.
- Elliot Webb
I am on day 16 on the 30DC and have opted to join the IE. I figure the first 14 days are only going to cost me $1 so that will give me a chance to get through the 30DC. Once I finish the 30DC what else will I do with my time? But you are probably wise not to join..You can always sign up for the waiting list and hopefully get in the program 6mo down the road..GL
- Michael Roberts
I did it, I bit the bullet and am gonna try it, thanks for slapping me in the face Michael cos I probably would have kicked myself if I didnt do it!!, thanks again
- Elliot Webb
Glad you decided to join Elliot! Hopefully we can group up in the IE as well as the rest of the 30DC. GL and don't beat me if the IE stinks! =P
- Michael Roberts
Yeh, I joined it too, although I am not through the 30DC yet. I have A LOT of time during the day to focus on these projects though, so it should be ok.
- Alex Melkonian
Im having problems with it already:((, cant download day 2, can you?
- Elliot Webb
Hey Elliot...the high res video is actually for day 1. The normal standard video is right above that. Day 2 content is below the day 2 text. It confused me at first as well. High res video download icon points down to day two.
- Michael Roberts
Haven't played around much with it but so far the newsletter content was good! =)
- Michael Roberts
Hi Alex, I guess we are, although we haven't formally done anything along those lines. For now we are members of this room and sharing information with each other and seeing where it leads. Tell us a little about yourself. Guy
- Guy J. Michaelson
Hello everyone, Just joined the room. I am on day 4ish, and am having trouble deciding upon a niche... What to do what to do? Love to brain storm with people. mroberts23 on twiiter if you all care to add me. Look forward to working with some of you in the future!
Hi Michael, I had the same problem finding a niche, then I just wrote down 10 things I'm passionate about and that got me started, it was funny because once I got my first ten, the next day I could come up with another 10, so it does get easier:).
- Elliot Webb
Just added u in twitter Michael, im edawg if u want to follow back, that goes for the rest of u too, please feel free;)
- Elliot Webb
Hi Elliot, I'm at the same place. Redoing day 2 & 3, trying to get the research down so I can do the process without going back and forth to the video. I might end up doing an on line drawing coarse. Fits the criteria so far and is a passion.
- Guy J. Michaelson
