More for me!!! Also, you clearly never had my grammy's pumpkin pie.

Are you eating storebought pies or homemade?
- Spidra Webster
you don't like pumpkin pie? that's not a euphemism? can i have your slice?
- Kendra <3 Three Lions
Spidra, I've tried both. The storebought ones are clearly worse, however.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
Kendra, you can have all of the pumpkin pie I have ever been offered. Every single molecule of it.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
Have you eaten pumpkin pie made by someone lovingly referred to as "Meemaw?"
- The Letter M
M, I'm not sure. I don't have a Meemaw of my own, but thinking about Big Mama's sweet potato pie makes me a little misty.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
pumpkin pie is gross, but there are others who find pleasure in it, and I will not deter them
- RAPatton
This is a man (without pumpkin pie).
- Micah Wittman
One more thing: I don't like most sweet potato pies. My mom's pie has lemon juice in it, and it's not overly sweet. I can actually taste the sweet potato.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
As long as I'm losing subscribers today, the only way I will ingest marshmallows is in Rice Krispies Treats.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
Not even flaming on the end of a stick? I.. . don't understand.
- The Letter M
Solidarity brother, solidarity. Also? Sweet potato pie? Unless is drowned in whipped cream, get it out of my face.
- EricaJoy
Not even flaming on the end of a stick. I am unanimous in this.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
Well then... would you be opposed to using marshmallows, flaming on sticks, as torches whilst wandering in the woods? (moment of sanity: I really dislike marshmallows. Even in cocoa)
- The Letter M
Actually, I don't have a problem with them as long as I don't have to eat them. As a source of light and heat, I guess I'll give them a pass.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
I stand with H3rvey. If I could RE-follow him to show my support, I would.
- Kevin Pedraja
I don't like pumpkin pie, but I do like pumpkin bread.
- Anna Haro
I don't like pumpkin pie, with one exception - the pumpkin pie made by my friend Mike. It is just enough different than most that I can eat a bit. Not a whole piece, but it doesn't make me retch.
- Jennifer Dittrich
I've had some pretty good pumpkin bread. I can deal with that.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
I don't like pumpkin pie, either. It's Scott's favorite, but being allergic to cinnamon, he has to be VERY particular about the pumpkin pies he indulges in.
- Ladybug Heather
Oh LBH.. that seriously sucks. Pumpkin Pie with no cinnamon is good but missing things. Would guess a lot of whip cream would be needed to help

Dear Harvey, Due to this post, the Department of Homeland Security has chosen you for deportation. No American is allowed to not like pumpkin pie. We will be by shortly in jack boots to escort you to the nearest airport.
- Alex Scoble
Well, well, well ...I don't like STUFFING! SO THERE!
- Jeremy (cropmarks)
Dear, Jeremy, Due to the comment you made in this thread, the Department of Homeland Security has chosen you for deportation. No American is allowed to not like stuffing. We will be by shortly in jack boots to escort you to the nearest airport.
- Alex Scoble
Jeremy, when you say "stuffing," do you use it as a noun or a verb?
- The Letter M
Aden, will you still be wanting your Saturday 9pm glute massage? Somebody's been bugging me for that slot.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
oh really? Well if you boys (and girls...hey not picky) want to trade slots, that is fine with me. Variety pleases the Aden. :)
- aden
I can't promise you can get that slot back, though. Choose wisely.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
I'll pass up the pumpkin for apple any day. In fact, I would pass up the pumpking and skip dessert. But I do love stuffing something fierce. And I love white people. And kittens. And old pickup trucks. But I don't like mean people. Mean people suck.
- Martha
Going to the original statement, WHOA.
- Mike Nayyar
Ha3rvey - The kind of pumpkin pie I see most people make doesn't do it for me. I'll eat it, but I agree with your comment about it being "cloying" and "lacking depth of flavor." I do like the version that my family (correction - I) make but it is very different. It's basically a traditional custard pie flavored with some pumpkin (about 1/2 cup), a smidge of almond extract, vanilla, spices, and browned butter. It is really smooth and light.
- Katy S
Wow. Are you even human? You don't like pumpkin pie, marshmallows, sweet potato pie and sour cream? (I forgive you for the sour cream - don't like it either, Blech). It's so sad. I don't know what to say. I make a mean pumpkin spice bar with spice frosting (it's like crack it's so good), but I don't know if I'd share it with you since you hate all the good stuff. Hmmm.
- Cassandra
Cassandra, I actually love my mom's (and my aunt's) sweet potato pie. Most others just taste like cinnamon, nutmeg and FAIL. I can't help it. I'm from Louisiana. We're all weird.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
Ok. You've redeemed yourself quite a bit, being from Louisiana (I lived in NOLA for 3 years) and liking your family's sweet potato pie. And, I'm feeling generous today. :)
- Cassandra
Sweet potato is definitely superior. As a kid, I couldn't tell them apart for a while and finally realized why sometimes it sucked and other times it was great. Now, I know the diff...lol
- Rahsheen ™, Coach Rah
I'll eat it, but I don't like it. I prefer sweet potato pie, especially my 'healthy' version.
- cecily
Seriously, the custard version of pumpkin pie we do in my family is awesome. The pumpkin flavor is much more subtle since it contains about 1/4 to 1/3 of the pumpkin that most pumpkin pies contain. The browned butter rises to the top and creates a slight crackly look. The almond and vanilla extracts blend well with the cinnamon and nutmeg, too. Here's a less-than great photo of it: http://www.flickr.com/photos...
- Katy S
I'm willing to try some other pies out, especially if they're made by people whose palates I trust. As long as they're not the usual OMG-how-can-something-this-sweet-taste-so-awful, I'm flexible. Cecily and Katy, I'd be interested in trying both of those.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
When I was a kid, I always thought of that pie as the only kind of pumpkin pie. When I found out later that it wasn't and I tried the pumpkin pie most people eat, I was greatly disappointed. The recipe I use is my mom's great-aunt's. Someday I want to try out and play with a good basic custard pie recipe and see what different flavor combos I can come up with. It seems like custard would be a great medium to experiment with.
- Katy S
The crazy thing is, I really like pumpkin. Roasted and then pureed with some onion, garlic, butter, salt and pepper, it's delicious.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
Ha3rvey, how do you feel about sweet potato casserole with pecans and brown sugar on top?
- Laura Lou Who
Lau3ra, if it's not too sweet, I might like it. I'm open-minded.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
People like different and strange things. I love pumpkin pie for all the reasons you hate it. It is cloying and heavy and one-note but that one-note is delicious to me. I can't get enough, especially with freshly whipped cream. Yum. I want pumpkin pie right now. Mincemeat pie on the other hand, I'll never understand. What the hell is that and why would anyone eat it? It tastes like sticky rotten fruit.
- veo
Mincemeat pie? That's just an urban legend. It doesn't really exist.
- ha3rvey (needs soup)
I hope to make mincemeat pie when I've moved. The SF Chron just published a good recipe. Meanwhile, I returned from the store with more pumpkin pie fixins.
