...and Powerpoint? - Bob DeAmbra
How so? For a specific project or for everything? - John-David Lusan
will 2nd that Powerpoint. Powerpoint? :) Not liking the web-based presenting options Steve? - Dan Keldsen
@JD pretty much all. - Steve Rubel via IM
@Dan First, I don't trust start-ups with my PPTs. Google needs work on exports. Let's see how Microsoft comes up. I bet it will be strong. - Steve Rubel
That's interesting. I guess scaling down is good. I sometimes get overwhelmed with all the applications available to use. How nice would be to have one or two applications that could do pretty much everything. - John-David Lusan
Which apps are you using in the cloud? I am about where you are... - Robert
@Robert Google, TypePad or the apps Edelman provides. - Steve Rubel via IM
then you are following google chrome closely, right? crashes should be much rarer there. but PP, really? There are other solutions aside from Google, know? I thought your pres style would make Keynote the choice. - Sebastian Keil
@Steve - how do I do the same? - John-David Lusan

Steve, what do you use for digital image editing? - Bill Sanders
@Bill I use Photoshop.com and Picnik - Steve Rubel via IM
Sounds like good progress. Firefox is basically my OS now, but I still need to use Keynote and MS Word on occassion. - Nitin Badjatia
I still use Word too now and then. Same with Entourage. - Steve Rubel via IM
I think you should get rid of your bad old time habits from your dark PC days and replace your Office with iWork '08 to get rid of all Microsoft non-sense and on-purpose compatibility problems. Entourage? Mail.app and iCal are here to rescue. - Berk D. Demir

In these Yahoo internal emails, the people are always talking about how they bleed -- it's like some kind of cult. - Paul Buchheit
Register.com reports that www.friendbleed.com is available, Paul. - Louis Gray
quick response :) a few times ago he was on the iab conferences to talk about internet advertising in recession - webosapien (Burcu Tüzün)
Paul, the bleeding thing predates Yahoo. At Apple, people would always say they bled 6 colors because of the logo. On one occasion, an executive got up in front of a group and told us he bled 5 colors. We always wondered if the missing color was red. - Chris White
Yeah @ Home Depot everyone was "bleeding orange" or had "orange blood". - Erica Baker
Well, I wonder what the market thinks of...oh, wait, YHOO is up 12% this morning.... - Glen Campbell
Too bad, I liked Yang, even with the issues he was having. - Aram Zucker-Scharff via twhirl
It is not about whether you like him... it is about whether he was the best CEO for them at this time or not. He was not, and he is lucky to not be sued by shareholders for this level of poor management - Ian D. Nock via twhirl

CEO of Zuosa, Alex Mou, a Chinese Twitter Clone. - Robert Scoble
Wow, many, if not most, popular Web 2.0 apps are cloned by the Chinese. And they're bringing them online fast. - imabonehead
ima: yeah, and most have been cloned multiple times. Now, though, the services are innovating on their own and adding some really unique things. Micropayments, for instance, are way ahead here in China vs. the US. - Fast Company
Interesting and yet kinda scary. US tech companies definitely need to be aware, if they're not already. As for me, I probably should move to China, the land of my ancestors, to start a Web 2.0 startup. :P - imabonehead
interesting, though its surprising something like it would be around in China with the Chinese government's censorship, namely seeing as how ours has labeled twitter as a potential terrorist tool, it'd seem they would be hesitate - BCK
BCK: Interesting to me is that neither China nor Iran have blocked FriendFeed. Both block my blog. I bet both services will get blocked eventually. FriendFeed is VERY fast in China, though, while Facebook is dreadfully slow. - Robert Scoble
it's a pure surprise to see Robert Scoble in Guangzhou(Canton). What a pleasure to talk to Robert about the Chinese Twitter: www.zuosa.com - Alex Mou
I guess the chinese government doesn't have any early adopters on the staff :P - BCK
Alex; Zuosa looks great, though I obviously can't read any of it - BCK
@bck their net police force is more advanced than many people think. - Alex Mou

Contradiction
4 hours ago - via Bookmarklet - Link
Not so much a contradiction actually. There is no proof in this picture that this person is of Islamic faith and even if so, it would be a personal opinion. Nowhere in Islamic text does it say that you should behead people for thinking that Islam is violent. Fact: Islam is NOT a violent religion. - mojay

This goes with the other thread about whether decapitated heads are conscious or not. It's a decapitation mashup! :-) http://bit.ly/eMB1 - Dave Winer
Wow. "Decapitation mashup" - one can only hope that this is the first (of very, very few) instance of this phrase ever being used. - Ladybug Heather

I respect that everyone wont like everything, but likewise, I'm sharing here as well, and it would be very easy NOT to. I'm greatful that many like the stuff, but at the same time, if you don't despite the fact 99% of you are asleep when I type this...well, seriously, unsubscribe, Likewise, you like, get your friends to sub, I'll do more. Michael: Nice article! I'm not doing SEO these days, and there were some new ones I hadn't seen (4,9,10,12). Very concise summary, and easy to read. - Mitchell Tsai
Michael - Excellent overview. While some still discount SEO (and they shouldn't) your piece provides solid basics for blogs. It should be noted that SEO for websites is different and potentially more complex but more importantly those running around saying that social networking is a replacement for true white hat SEO are kidding themselves ... and potentially missing out on a lot of free traffic in the process. - Charlie Anzman
I don't know about all the SEO stuff. The moral of the story always seems to be "create quality content". - ♫ Rahsheen™
As always, great post Mike. But why didn't anyone take the bait on "If your are writing a post, for example, about how FriendFeed was just acquired by Google"? I'm surprised this rumor hasn't spread throughout the blogosphere by now. - Mark Krynsky
@Mark, in editing the post for publication, I promise I checked Google Blog search just to see if I hadn't overlooked the momentous announcement. :-) - Louis Gray

amazon s3? - Joelle Nebbe
I checked our S3 account - still live. My pure speculative conjecture ;) is that they had an early peak at the new CDN product and something is subtly different in the live rollout. - Mike Taylor
