“M. Night Shyamalan is a con man that has managed to convince a large (but ever decreasing number of people) that his tedious and turgid stories are time bombs of profundity and insight. He's like the conceptual artist that spends his $700K grant creating an art installation of an empty fridge box.”

And he's quite possibly a creationist. - Alexander Carlill
I take it that you are not a fan. :D - Mavericks of Troy, NV!
I'm an anti-fan. I liked 6th Sense and then it is hockey stick growth downward since then. He's a director with only a hammer, and every story looks like a nail to him. - Dave Slusher
He's only made two decent films, that I enjoy watching, occasionally. The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable. All of his newer stuff complete and utter crap. - James Fuller
I liked Unbreakable better than 6th Sense and was disappointed by Signs...haven't seen anything of his since...They've all gotten bad reviews all around. I wouldn't say any of them were profound or insightful...but it was fun to figure out the puzzle in the first two movies, particularly in 6th sense because you didn't know there was a puzzle and in Unbreakable because you knew there was. There really was no puzzle in Signs, which made it disappointing and after that...why bother? - Alex "Maverick" Scoble
I'm willing to watch Unbreakable, even though the twist ending was spoiled for me years ago. I've seen other of his films on airplanes (never paying for the headphones) and just glancing up once every few minutes was enough to convince me they are crap. Plus, he personally is so full of shit he's a turd piñata. - Dave Slusher
When you first bullet point is "First R-rated movie from" you know you are trying to put shit in a bag light it on fire and leave it on someones doorstep. - Geoff Schultz
Geoff, that's more brilliant than his last 5 films. - Dave Slusher
PS - I did like the Stuart Little movie he wrote. He can create works that matter to me, he has chosen not to. - Dave Slusher

"There's really no such thing as a bottom, Howard. There's just a collective moment when people get tired of thinking the world is going to end, take a deep breath, and remember to live in the now. Think about your life at this moment: you are healthy, with a family you love, and a respected position in the community. What's wrong with that? Everything in the stock market is commentary, like everything in the political campaign. One day in the future people will turn around and say things are too high, and then we will know it turned. But we will never see the bottom and you should know that as a yogi and an investor in Spiritual Gangster." - Francine Hardaway

"That's pretty scary Fred. What it means is that they are keeping their cash for themselves, thinking something terrible is going to happen, or...in the case of Google, a young company...they don't really know what they should be doing. I have a lot of faith in the future of MSFT and less in the future of GOOG." - Francine Hardaway

Documentary about the S&L crisis of the 80s. Very similar to now. - Francine Hardaway via Bookmarklet
Today's circumstances are only similar to the S&L debacle in this way: both crises were induced by Democrat Party stalwarts. Beyond that, there are no similarities that are meaningful. - eggsy

“CEO of Lehman Brothers Richard Fuld just sworn in in Congress. Here comes the grilling.”

Ohh goody. Here we go. - Roberto "Maverick" Bonini
Fun.... - Chacha
Since 2000 he's taken home almost half a billion. Congressman asks him: "Is this fair?" - Thomas Hawk
They are quibling over the ammount. He's saying it's closer to $200 million, the Congressman is saying it's $400 to $500 million. Talking about his vacation homes, his helicopter commute, his art collection with million dollar paintings etc. - Thomas Hawk
Congressman says "Wall Street privatized all the gains and socialized all the losses." - Thomas Hawk
Right, because $500 million would be obscene, but $200 million is completely reasonable. *rolls eyes* - Eric
Eric: Now he's gonna say something about not being greedy. - Roberto "Maverick" Bonini
CNBC: apparently he went to the gym after the bankruptcy failure at Lehman and someone knocked him out cold while he was working on the treadmill. - Thomas Hawk
Any place on the net where one could watch this? - Holger Eilhard
@holger - try http://cspan.org/ - Atul Arora
I suspect he either can't remember, he had no knowledge because his secretary really ran the company, claims Fortune 500 executive privilege, or can't say because it's a national security issue. - todd
@Atul: Thx! - Holger Eilhard
He's not going to say much because there's litigation going on. Fuld seems to be implicating Hank Paulson may have misled him... or he's lying. - Jim McCusker
Unfortunately they're going to get burnt for the, say, next 6 months, then he'll settle down with his millions... :( And the next person is probably already in line to do exactly the same. - Holger Eilhard
Glad I'm not in his shoes. That's one major brow beating he's in for. - Aaron Strout

"Some of my Arizona friends are ready to leave the country if McCain gets elected because of what they know about him, and this includes Democrats and Republicans who were leaders in the business community in the late 70s and 80's when he came up. Most of them were CSR officers in their companies. I was in the PR business during that time, and knew most of the stuff, but hadn't remembered it until yesterday when I went to a birthday party for one of their grandkids and my friend Sharon, who at the time was the CSR officer for the largest local bank, reminded me that: 1)Mc Cain was chosen to be a candidate by Duke Tully, then the publisher of the Az Republic, a Pulliam newspaper that supported Kemper Marley, who had connections to organized crime and gave Cindy McCain's father his opportunity for the Budweiser distributorship. 2)At the time, Phoenix was controlled by The Phoenix 40, a backroom group of men who ran the city and wanted more influence in Washington for things like water..." - Francine Hardaway
