FRB: Commercial Paper Rates and Outstandings

Commercial Paper Funding Facility (CPFF) http://www.google.com/search?b... - James Prudente
IANAE, but the ted spread and the discount rate chart in this fed report indicate the state of the commercial paper market. until they return to normal levels it's very difficult to evaluate the equity markets on fundamentals. right now moves in the equity markets are mostly dependent on herd mentality. - James Prudente
on a positive note, the delevering of the hedge funds, derivitaives and finacial engineering increase the relative value of innovation, execution and efficiency improvements. - James Prudente

good point. http://www.hulu.com/movies might be a better way to find these. Hulu, originally panned by the TC crowd has really done what no one else has been able to do. Bring free full length TV and Movie content to the web. - James Prudente

AAPL: Summary for APPLE INC - Yahoo! Finance
October 9 at 9:14 pm - via Bookmarklet - Link
Even after the fall AAPL is worth basically 10x what it was 5 years ago. Market cap just under GOOG. Doesn't seem right. - Hayes Haugen via Bookmarklet
not sure what you mean by "Doesn't seem right." GOOG is long on everything while AAPL focuses on products. Both are smart given GOOG's net dominance and AAPL's design sense. Different strategies but both are currently dominating their niche. Right now its apples and oranges. Which strategy is stronger, right now I'd give it to GOOG. - James Prudente
I think of Apple as a durable goods manufacturer in the luxury electronics arena. Wouldn't put my money there in a downturn. Google seems much wider, but then again they are dependent on advertising. Which one would you rather own? - Hayes Haugen
Definitely long on GOOG, but until the TED spread shrinks fundamentals don't matter. - James Prudente

I like many parts of it, but I don't think it's a business model. It's an organizational model. In the end you have to make a profit or the business ends. I'm interested in modeling the market into the organization and the engineering side. - Hayes Haugen

"Mike, who wanted to be identified only by his first name, told KING-5 that he saw a Craigslist ad last week seeking workers for a road-maintenance project. He inquired and was e-mailed instructions to meet near the bank at 11 a.m. Tuesday and to wear specific clothing. "Yellow vest, safety goggles, a respirator mask ... and, if possible, a blue shirt," Mike told KING-5. No contractor met Mike and about a dozen other similarly dressed men who showed up at the bank" - Hayes Haugen via Bookmarklet

"Conspiracy theories. They were annoying enough when it was just people talking bollocks in pubs. But now with the Internet, there are forums. These people can find each other. There was one great conspiracy theory about the end of our HBO series, "Extras." In the last episode we had a scene with my partner on the show, Stephen Merchant, and Robert De Niro—and the conspiracy theory was that De Niro was not actually in the room with Stephen. "You can see that it's a split screen," they claimed. Right. We got De Niro, but the hard bit was getting Stephen in the same room. That makes sense. It's just people who think they're clever. No, you don't know anything. You live with your mum, you're on the computer all day. You've got three friends, and you've never actually met any of them." - Hayes Haugen via Bookmarklet
