Google Adds YouTube Support To Google Takeout, Now Lets Your Download Your Original Video Files -
Google just added a nifty new feature to Google Takeout, the company's "data liberation" service for downloading your personal data from Google's various services. Starting today, you will also be able to easily download the videos you previously uploaded to YouTube. That in itself isn't really new, as you could already download your transcoded videos from YouTube. What's interesting here is that the files you download from Takeout are exactly the same files you previously uploaded. These files will feature none of the transcoding or transformations that YouTube generally applies to your videos before they go live on YouTube. "Your videos in. Your videos out," as YouTube engineer Brian Hawkins describes it in the announcement today. - Johnn Luevanos

As Keystone XL victory looms, a ‘top enviro’ games out how to lose
by David Roberts. Over at Rolling Stone, Jeff Goodell has a piece gaming out scenarios for the Keystone XL pipeline. It’s worth a read. Just to briefly recap: There was a cut in payroll taxes. It was set to expire at the end of the year, thus raising taxes on the middle class. Congress wants to extend the payroll tax cut, but they’ve been squabbling about what to include in the extension bill (Republicans are trying to jam in all kinds of unrelated “riders”). Facing disaster, the Senate finally agreed to a two-month extension, to allow some time to work out the bigger issues. The bill they approved contains a rider that would force Obama to make a decision on the Keystone XL pipeline within 60 days. Everyone expected the House to vote it through as well. Then House GOP radicals rebelled, Majority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) did as he was told, and the House refused to vote on it. At that point, everyone—the president, pundits, Senate Republicans, your cousin Bob—condemned the House... - Green Living Tips

Obama Doesn’t Want His Daughters To Have Access To Plan B, So Yours Shouldn’t Get It, Either
In a press conference today, Barack Obama voiced his support for Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius' decision against putting plan B on drugstore shelves alongside other over-the-counter drugs, citing his personal wish to make sure that it's not available to his daughters. The Food and Drug Administration conducted extensive research that showed it would be safe to sell the teens under the age of 16 without prescription, but Sebelius disagreed. I agree, we should not be giving our kids access to more pills and drugs. I wonder if these companies would be recommending this if they had to provide it for free. They would do anything to increase their bottom line and that includes giving false reports and promises.. - Angela Kane

12 Days of Christmas Beer - Great Divide Hibernation Ale
"It's full, malty, and rich without being oversweet; it's warming without tasting harsh; and it's the perfect partner for winter stews and roasts. Hibernation Ale has skeins of molasses, a whisper of smoke, and a graininess that reminded us a bit of pumpernickel bread. It's smooth and earthy with just enough hoppy edge. It wants aged gouda or smoked meat, but it would also be great with Chinese food that has sesame oil and ginger in it.
