"Sorry, I got hung up on the Notes Plus / Dropbox issue and didn't comment on using the iPad as a notebook for Uni. I wouldn't want to use the stock iPad for **heavy** typing... but might be fine with a Bluetooth keyboard. However, for mixing typing, handwriting, drawing... and/or importing and marking up PDFs, then the iPad is great. Apps like Notes Plus, Notability and Note Taker HD are excellent for this mixed use scenario. Plus you can record audio alongside your notes with both Notes Plus and Notability. If you'll just be typing, then I'd look at apps such as Evernote (already mentioned), OneNote, MagicalPad, ThinkBook ... or maybe even one of the office suites. Certainly no shortage of good apps. "I've enabled the sync but haven't looked at the files until now. It appears it is simply meant as a way to backup your notes. There's a Data folder and a Sync folder. The Sync folder has Notebooks and Recordings. But OP is correct, the notebooks contain a series of files that are not in a usable format. HOWEVER... If you want to leverage your notes elsewhere, you simply need to export (to iTunes, Photo Albums, Email or Google Dos). I typically export to Evernote (via email) or to Google Docs. You have the option of sending a PDF (entire notebook, current page or a page range) or WebArchive. Given the Dropbox sync, it is odd that Dropbox isn't one of the export options." - Herb Hernandez
