""Eating meat isn't really forbidden in Hinduism" It is around religious figures, or at least "taboo" (as you put it) to eat meat in front of images of deities. In fact, putting meat in front of an image of a deity is considered a "sin". "using a Hindu religious figure to promote something that is taboo to Hinduism is just plain stupid on the part of the ad agency that did this" The point I was trying to get across with the examples was that the attitude the country has towards everything Indian is about commercializing its name and image. Rarely do they think about the "feelings" of Hindus or in fact any other minority."

"I'm a hindu in spain.. and had a beef burger for lunch today (not burger king though) I'm not offended by this poster, then again i'm not very religious. In the past few years Spanish people have "fallen in love with bollywood" and hence everything bollywood (read: Indian) related is included. Women sport large handbags with a printed indian soap ad, parade necklaces with the Om sign and add images of indian gods to decorate stalls that sell "authentic indian trinkets and food" which aren't always vegetarian, the Indian culture has been raped for a profit for a while now but it doesn't seem to bother Hindus in other instances."
