I'm sorry, is this English: "Clarium is a broadly opportunistic investment fund that pursues absolute returns across a global macro spectrum by studying and exploiting distortions present in most global macroeconomic markets." Really?

I was more than a little intrigued about this movie, until I read several reviews that went beyond the "wow! amazing visuals!" reviews and mentioned plot elements that are apparently supposed to make it an ecological parable. The plot element that made me decide to wait until Avatar reaches pay-for-view before I see it is the rare mineral called "unobtainium," only available on the Avatar planet. I find that ham-handed and annoying — very, VERY annoying! I don't need to be preached to by a multi-millionaire director with an ego the size of Montana.

Dear Ashley, To be taken seriously, it helps to use the correct word. In your first paragraph, fourth sentence, the word you wanted was "elude." That's when I stopped reading. Regards, Murphy

Aaaaah, yes — one of the more notorious staged photos from early in our Iraq misadventure. Long shots of this pull-down were first explained as a "spontaneous demonstration by the Iraqi people." Yeah — right! More like "U.S. soldiers pull down a statue while Iraqis watch."

Good, I'm glad someone in the justice system is putting the alleged threat posed by the Gitmo detainees in some sort of reality based perspective.

Yeah, tabloids have left an "indelible mark" on journalism — a really bad tattoo of a skull with flames shooting out of it's eye sockets.

Actual good writing by someone other than a "citizen journalist" might have avoided this problem. But then, everyone with a keyboard and a burning desire to write, no matter how badly, is given credibility in this day and age. Tip: writing — good writing — ain't for the weak-of-heart or the unqualified.

Friedman points out what any student of history knows: if you don't learn from the past, you're doomed to repeat it. Here we are, 46 years on from the Cronkite-Kennedy interview - and all you'd have to do is substitute "Afghanistan" for "Vietnam," and you have the same damned result!

Downright knuckleheaded oopses on the Google map that 10 minutes consulting with almost any resident of the city would have fixed ... sheesh!

The fireman analogy is faulty. Firemen are on call 24-7 when they're AT the station, NOT when they're at home. Sure, they might get called in (maybe), but only in the most dire emergencies.

It's my wish that all news outlets completely ignore these people. Oh, I'm sure they'll be interviewed by someone, but wouldn't be nice if they were ignored?

This is hysterical — management never stops trying to get talent, experience and smarts on the cheap! In addition to having little clue what they need.
