Right. So I´m a bit of a slow adopter. But still, loving Instapaper and Evernote both on my mac an iPhone these days. Anyone else happy with these ? Alternatives ? Also: How do some of you guys manage to seemingly automatically tweet or FF what articles you are currently reading ?
I just downloaded Evernote but haven't had a chance to use it yet. I don't even know what I'd use it for. I'd love to see what people do with it. - Derrick
Actually haven´t saved that much to Evernote yet myself either, but some encrypted account information and other personal stuff, and have also tested the OCR thing which is cool ! Instapaper though: I mark long articles linked here on FF as "Read later" all day long, and read them in the Instapaper app without distractions on my iphone in bed :) - Thomas Bøhm
Love Evernote, more on desktop than iPhone, but use it on both. Have Instapaper, but don't use it often ... - Patrick Jordan
So do you perhaps use Evernote for some of what I use Instapaper for ? Do you save interesting articles in Evernote ? I don´t, but read them later in Instapaper and delicious them if they´re good. Delicious bookmarks will break over time though... - Thomas Bøhm
Recently installed Evernote on my iPhone and it seems very powerful. - Rutger Blom from fftogo
I mainly Star items in Google Reader for later reading or action - but I liked Instapaper when I used it - just kinda forgot about it lately - Patrick Jordan
I star things in gReader as well, but hardly ever go back to them. Because feed items I star are a big mess of articles, quotes, pictures, source code, etc. Instapaper i purely use for longer articles and they automatically disappear when read. Now to find what more to use Evernote for.. - Thomas Bøhm
I go through and trim and even 'work from' my Reader starred items a bit. I do need to revisit Instapaper though. Evernote is a great store-all sort of app - chuck photos in and use its character-recognition to find them based on a word contained in an image, use it for voice, text, or photo notes on the iPhone and know that its instantly synced and available on the desktop ... - Patrick Jordan
Thomas, do you use the FF Bookmarklet? http://friendfeed.com/share... - that's how I FF articles that Im currently reading. (found it in the "Tools") I also like Instapaper...didnt know about Evernote...will try it. - Maryam
i try a lot of these note apps and never keep using them - don't quite know why. I think you need to put a certain effort in them before the "aha" moment arrives and I give up earlier. Evernote is nice but too linear, i think i need to be able to put more structure. But i used so many and all end up with sub-groups on information, and no active use - Joelle Nebbe (iphigenie)
@Maryam: Thanks for the tip. Evernote has a cool optical character recognition from pictures you attach. @Joelle: I know. I *like* Evernote a lot (also having the elephant head icon in my menu bar..;)), but would like to use it like Patrick. - Thomas Bøhm
