Flat bottom (basket) filters are supposed to use a coarser grind than cone filters. If I use coffee ground for a basket filter in my cone-filter pour-over, I seem to have to use a bit of extra coffee in order to get the same flavor I get when it's ground finer for the cone filter. I suppose I'll either have to buy whole bean coffee in-store and have them grind it for me if I want it ground for the cone filter. - COMPLICATED MR. NOODLE

anyhow pesto is not hard to make at home, handmade pesto can be lots better than commercial pesto, the key is good olive oil - d☭snake
btw if you use a mixer instead of a mortar remember to set the lowest speed possible, pesto must not heat during mixing - d☭snake
Super fresh ingredients make the difference. That said, if you make a large quantity pesto freezes beautifully - just don't add the cheese if you plan on freezing it. The recipe I used and liked came from a now-former friend's cookbook, which I can't remember the name of, unfortunately. - Corinne L
Use pecorino and you can't go wrong. In my humble opinion. :) It's the heart of the genovese pesto. Well, besides the genovese basil. I LOVE pesto! Just another way to ingest cheese! Pancakes are pretty easy to make. As long as you don't over mix them, they stay light and fluffy. Also, make sure your griddle/pan is hot. A drop of water should sizzle away and evaporate immediately. - Katy S

Yeah, making pancakes on the stovetop is notoriously difficult, due to the temperature of the pan. I tend to have the best luck with my electic griddle. Turning it all the way up is always perfect for pancakes; they never burn that way. - COMPLICATED MR. NOODLE
