"People participating in our Fall Kitchen Cure are closing in on the final days of the process. If there's one question we've seen again and again it's how to deal with those pesky plastic containers. Stacey Platt, a professional organizer here in NYC, gave me some tips to share with you."

"We came across this lovely little idea for Thanksgiving while we were researching homemade hostess gifts. This is a snack mix designed just for Thanksgiving, with each little treat symbolizing a different aspect of the Thanksgiving holiday."

"Lets keep it real. The Herman Miller Setu is priced to sell at $650. It’s no Embody but in this economy throwing around over $1k for a chair is wishful. The good folks at Herman Miller sent one to try out and my bum (queue Brits laughing) and back thank you. The supportive mesh and innovative spinal support really do make the difference.Whatever you do, don’t call it a poor man’s Embody. Hit the jump for my review. So what about this spinal support system? Herman Miller calls it a Kinematic Spine. The rib cage-like design flexes as you lean forward and back. There are no adjustments. They’ve simplified the ergonomic chair into what all chairs should have done years ago when that word first started floating around – it just works. Sit down and it hugs you spine. The mesh doesn’t cut into your skin yet provides plenty of support. Ever sat in a cheap generic mesh chair? They quickly lose their form. You get what you pay for."

"So an entire lego house is amazing. Just, amazing. But perhaps just a touch of Lego--say just a kitchen island--could be a subtle homage to the architectural toy... Who are we kidding!?! It's ridiculous and completely over the top! But we love it..."

Would anyone like to submit recommendations on recycle bins? I'm remodeling my kitchen, and the plastic buckets must go. I am looking for fairly large capacity (30 litres or more) bins, preferably stainless steel. There are few choices, unfortunately the best is sold in Europe but not in the US. Thanks in advance.

So, how do you show your geek colors while ditching the dorm look? 1337motif on Etsy has some beautiful geeky cutting boards, coasters, and necklaces fit the bill nicely.

"Who says an aquarium has to be all about fish? All over the world, planted aquarium enthusiasts practice the art of underwater gardening -- creating lush, natural-looking landscapes that live in the confines of a tank. These hobbyists communicate via the Internet, trading plants and information. They also trade pictures of their tanks. Each year the Aquatic Gardeners Assn., a group of enthusiasts 1,300 strong, holds a contest to name the best tanks in the world. Here you'll find the winning aquascapes of the past five years and get a taste of a whole new way to look at an aquarium. Haha, me too Brad. Two rooms in the home are most important to me, my kitchen and my master bath. I'm re-doing my kitchen now. When complete I will post before and after pics.

Nice, jcunwired. Definitely share those with the group.

I, too, LOVE having a nice bathtub. I've actually been known to bring the ole computadora next to the tub and go to town with it. I used to have a big ledge on the side which allowed me to surf and not get shocked to hell and back. It was SO damn relaxing.

"If you’re looking for an early retirement in pure tropical luxury, we suggest taking a close look at this luxury villa in Mallorca, Spain. Designed by architect Julia Palmer, this Mallorca villa is seated on a plot of land stretching 530 square meters, with a 180 degree view of the land and the sea beyond this home’s stylish patio. It’s circular-roofed design is reminiscent of the fronds of a palm tree, stretching down from a central point and providing a canopy of shelter to the room below. If you move in, we suggest a fresh look at interior decorating, as this Mallorca home is a bit cold in design at present. With a bit of love and a focus on a relaxing warmth, this luxury villa could be the best place to spend your wonder years of a long retirement." ~~~~ :-o ............ OHHHHHHHH....DADDY LIKE <333

SALT WATER POOLS: Does anyone here own one? If so, how much money would you say you save on a yearly basis in comparison to what it would cost to use traditional methods of treating a pool?
I would still think you would need to watch your ph levels... hmmm are you going to put algae and fish into it? just curious. Sometimes we get the wind coming off the Great Salt Lake, and growing up with a pool in her back yard... when I compare the two, I would much rather smell a chlorinated pool vs. the great salt lake. YMMV
- The Catz Meow
Aunt-in-law has a salt water pool. My wife loves it but I haven't tried it yet. It's slightly less maintenance, but apparently the water just feels awesome, not like a chlorine pool and not like the ocean, just smooth.
- xero
I think I will gulp lots of salt be4 I am done w/my swimming lol
- polou/indigo_bow
Brad, I had a pool built a few years ago and we went with saltwater. One of the main reasons is because my daughter has sensitive skin and saltwater was much better for her than chlorine. My family loves it and friends that come over seem to as well. One friend even converted his pool to saltwater. Other advantages are that your eyes don't burn opening them underwater, no hair discoloration, and the smoother feel on the skin as mentioned. I highly recommend salt.
- Mark Krynsky
As far as maintenance, I have a pool guy but have been told that maintaining saltwater pools is easier than chlorine based ones. Beyond regular pool maintenance I believe they drop a 10 lb bag of salt in bi-monthly. Also with regards to salt taste in the water, it's only about 1/10th the salidity of the ocean.

My wife and I are hoping to buy a home soon, so this topic has suddenly become very fun for me ;-)
- Brad Williamson
I'm an avid watcher of HGTV, so I kinda like this. but I do have a question for you Brad.. being still relatively new to Friendfeed, (Just a shade under two months now.) I'm curious, how does one go about starting a new Group here? I haven't noticed anything devoted solely to the topic of music and I'm a big music freak. is there already a group for music that I don't know about?
- Scratch5150
YES! You hafta start a good music group. There are already a ton of them out there, but they're all very niche-ey. Go to the following link and knock yourself out... http://friendfeed.com/groups

"I love the uk’s very fabulous living etc. magazine. it’s always fresh and has very inventive and eclectic brit-pop styling ideas i never would have thought of without a little help from the glossy pages of their beautiful magazine, or helpful, handy online galleries. i am feeling the itch to redecorate (yes, yet again) and went searching for some ideas based on a background embracing a white palette (you know, my very favorite) with bright pops of color here and there. i found lots of inspiration in the pages, and oodles of pages, of living etc.’s online galleries. here’s a peek at living etc.!"

*love* ... first refusal? Or can I just have the first one, pls? (The white Barcelona ottoman is yours) lol ;)
- Brandon
LOL ~ seeing as it's you, of course you can have "just one" and I'll let you visit the others from time to time for torture on a regular basis!! ;p ....but yes, *smiles* the Barcelona ottoman is mine...all mine!!! Now, I just need to find the Louis Ghost Chairs and Emma will be a very happy girl.... ;)
- Emma
Heheh, thanks! But wait, you're ok with just an ottoman?---What about the Barcelona chairs and couch... you must be hiding them from me! Oh and that place in Lancaster Gate, I tipped them off to be on the lookout for any suspicious girls seeking a private viewing of the place (re: the eight Louis Ghost Chairs). :P
- Brandon
hahaha ... I'm lulling you into a false sense of security...letting you think it's all about just the ottoman but just wait my time before taking the Barcelona chairs and couch too!! :D As for Lancaster Gate, that explains the funny looks and why they'd glued the Ghost Chairs to the floor when I went for that private viewing last week... ;p
