Well, I can work around it using an optical cable from the Dish receiver. It will never need more than that will push. I'll keep my Blu Ray on the fully working HDMI port. Sucks when that little part ruins functionality on something that cost so much money.

That happened to a friend of mine. An HDMI port just went bad. I did pull the Dish receiver out to check something and pulled the connector half way out of the port on the Dish side. Must have sent a short down the cable, since it was working before that.

New version of Boxee software as well. This will be the last version they release for pc/mac/Linux, so they say. Now you have to get a Boxee Box or a Boxee enabled device for any future app updating. Big move.

"So what makes VLC so special? Simply put: It happily plays nearly every video format you can throw at it. Beyond JPEGs and MP4 videos, VLC can play MPEG-2, FLV Flash, DivX, H.264, MKV, WebM, WMV and MP3 files… just to name a few. On that basis alone, it’s a very useful tool to have on your computer - or smartphone. VLC is about to become a potential powerhouse on mobile platforms, as Android users can now partake of a beta version of the player for their devices."

"Smith seemed to think Mastered for iTunes is a good thing, and iTunes tracks sound a little better than they used to, but still not as good as a CD. The new mastering tools provide a preview of what the finished iTunes files will sound like. The iTunes master is a 24-bit/44.1 kHz file. For now the best-sounding format most people will hear is still the CD, and that's where Ryan focuses his efforts. He started out as a recording engineer, but if he recorded something now, he'd bring it to another mastering engineer to get a fresh set of ears involved in the project."
