Some people seem to develop the belief that free software means entitlement to free support. It is likely that you were sent here because your questions appear to place you in that category. Please understand that those of us who help out in forums for free software support have lives, jobs, obligations. You may have been lucky (or UNlucky) enough to have found someone once who took you by the hand and did all your work for you. Don't count on that happening again. And yes, it might have been unfortunate for you. Those of us who are successful with free software have learned how to read documentation, and how to come up with keywords for a successful Google search. It's a nice feeling, to be self-sufficient with your computers. Some of us like to help others along the way to self-sufficiency. If you expect hand-holding and personal attention every step of the way, expect to spend some money for it. - Marko Đorđevic

JSON Performance in Python | Traceback (most recent call last): - http://www.mikealrogers.com/archive...
In part of my ongoing performance work in our CouchDB+Python application I’ve decided to sit down and profile JSON performance in the different open source libraries available for Python. I ran this test profiling json (pure Python simplejson) available in Python stdlib, simplejson compiled with C speedups, cjson, and jsonlib2, with a large JSON document. The test decodes and encodes a large JSON object 100 times. It then runs that test 100 times in each library in succession in order to find the average encode/decode time for each library and minimize other environmental factors that may occur. These numbers were taken on my MacBook Air running Mac OS X 1.6.1 with the default Python 2.6 - Marko Đorđevic

Desktop aggregators are great. They sit there all day, pinging away at sites, and as soon as they notice something new, they pop up little windows on your desktop, and let you read items. But what about when you go home from work? Or what about when you are on a trip? You get totally out of sync, and don't know what you've read and haven't read. You are enraged. - Marko Đorđevic

In KOHCTPYKTOP: Engineer of the People, you play as an engineer working in a semiconductor factory designing integrated circuits based on specifications provided to you. What does it have to do with communism? You'll have to play to find out! A few notes about the game: * This game is actually quite difficult; while you don't need to know anything about electronics to play, being familiar with some of the concepts will definitely help in the later levels, as most of them are based around real-life circuits. Wikipedia is your friend. * The music playing is tracks one and five from CŒDES Pierre-Marie's SYMPHONIE N°2 available here on jamendo.com. * v1.1: Fixed verification test for KT141AO and fixed a bug where two-input PNP gates would trigger despite one input being high. * v1.2: Fixed verification test for KR8S1, hopefully. * v1.3: Replaced crappy instructions with in-game video tutorial. - Marko Đorđevic
HWPOISON [LWN.net] - http://lwn.net/Article...
One downside to the ever-increasing memory size available on computers is an increase in memory failures. As memory density increases, error rates also rise. To offset this increased error rate, recent processors have included support for "poisoned" memory, an adaptive method for flagging and recovering from memory errors. The HWPOISON patch recently developed by Andi Kleen and Fengguang Wu provides the Linux kernel support for memory poisoning. Thus, when HWPOISON is coupled with the appropriate fault-tolerant processors, Linux users can enjoy systems that are more tolerant to memory errors in spite of increased memory densities. - Marko Đorđevic
