This Friday is not a night for positive punting. At least not yet. Picking a special was almost impossible and sticking to our (new) rules of staying away from Restricted/Maiden events it was down to GOLDEN LIDO in race 5 to keep our excellent run of "good things" going. But if he does get up, or even run in the top three - it's that tough a night, he would want to be right on top of his game as... - kranjiracing

Need some help from the outer this week - Chootsim, BlueFlame? - Larry Foley

Hi Larry, I agree that the card this Friday night really points to a rough nite ahead, I will stick out for Intercept for some good flutter, Simpson should have a soft lead from barrier 2 and with the App. claim, should figure well with other contenders, either draw wide or having a dump boy on top. Just return from Malaysia,Cheyenne Dancer looks well suited in the KA series, and any... more... - chootsim

A few good judges are leaning towards intercept so might be a fair option. Cheyenne Dancer could be shorter than Barend Vosrter and I would want to be looking on at odds on so thats why Zizou. I will definitely include Kyoto in exotics because as you mention saimees mount will take most of the punters attention (although come fly with me is a very good option so keep very safe). The only horse I am confident to back is Gutsy Prince in race 8. Though not a fan of punting in claiming rider races I think he will be too good for that field. I will also be having a bit each way on Noble Manor in the last. If Cheyenne Dancer is not at his best I think Noble Manor might be able to pinch this race. - Blue Flame

The Hatchet Man is looking ominous and while he is close to droppng grades it looks as if he is really having a dip. I tossed up between Gutsy Prince and him and to be honest Gutsy was probably the easier way to go. I'm happy to ignore Cheyyene first up (when he won in Singapore he was in training and treated as an international for quarantine) and went for Zizou on a very smart run two starts back. Hopefully he doesn't head butt any Italians. - Larry Foley

I just looked up ominous in the dictionary - Ominous (Adj) - "A word describing a horse that wins a race every 15 starts and who has not won for 3 years. An 'ominous' horse is often suited in Class 5 company." I couldn't believe my eyes, it's like the definition was written for The Hatchet Man. - Blue Flame

This Stravinsky young speedster is right in my target sight, led early, and not disgraced in the 1400m last start.Not much pace in this race, and hope he leads them home, i will be loving his payout with the hype on the toppie and lowest number. Cheers - chootsim

After both our specials got the chocolates last weekend we are sticking with the obvious this Friday and one horse, WAIKATO (r7) stands out as the best horse in the race. He has won over the 1400m previously (at his only start) and looks OK at the weights against his two main dangers, ANY HUMOUR and LIMS FIGHTER. While he should be... I reckon a good bet would be to all-up your last 2 selections, Shen Wei and Super Fighter. Both might be a bit short and both should win. My best bets of the day are Shen Wong in race 2 and Lycraa in race 4. - Blue Flame

lycraaaaaaaa (as rex hunt would call it) looks a good of good things. Shen Wong hsould go very close but as someone pointed out to me he would have been better suited (with a rating of 39) in a class 5 race. he would then be giving crabs 7kg and not some promising youngsters. This filly looks special. MEXICAN ROSE, a two start winner from New Zealand, makes her much anticpated Singapore debut on Sunday in race 4, and from all accounts she should win. Apart form her two wins, she ran a very credible sixth in the $1 million Karaka Million 2-y-o race which suggests she is quality and although being set specifically for the Juvenille Challenge at the end of this month, looks a very good thing. However, she will be short - very short - and with a fair amount of unpredicability in 2-y-o races, it may pay just to watch on and see if the hype is well founded and save your bet until the feature. Good call on Mexican Rose Larry, will be single digit winner, i like Viva Panata next, follow by Bionic Boy, this fellas should bring home the bacons, may be the fastest horse in training in the lower grade.. Viva Paneta will be sure to give an honest account of himself. I was tempted but teh drop in class for Promise Me Gold swayed me - again I will probably go for value.
