Sounds like the city is making the argument that the sex trade is unsustainable, but the article didn't give any details. Strikes me as an odd argument, and I'm curious how prostitution undermines the sustainability foucs.

One could probably argue that prostitution is the most sustainable trade ever. I think the mayor was concerned to leave a funny impression with the VIP guests and tried to take preventive measures. Seems to have a backlash though.

That makes sense, but then that's the argument they need to make. Making up BS excuses doesn't help anything.

"[I]f you read aloud a passage full of vowels that make you scowl — the German vowel sound ü, for example — you’re likely to find yourself in a worse mood than if you read a story similar in content but without any instances of ü. Similarly, saying ü over and over again generates more feelings of ill will than repeating a or o." I definitely feel sick now.

" The LAT detected a photon with the highest energy so far measured from a GRB, $33.4_{-3.5}^{+2.7}$ GeV. This event arrived 82 seconds after the GBM trigger and $\sim$ 50 seconds after the prompt phase emission had ended in the GBM band."

"The joke report was by far the most popular service the spies provided. "It was our biggest hit," recalls former BND spy Dieter Gandersheim, whose real name is of course quite different. The Chancellery and the ministries couldn't wait for the file, he said." Makes one wonder. Is there a similar joke report for China? North Korea?

Amazing. I vividly recall asking my teacher in 5th grade whether that's possible and - after a very long pause and a confused look - was told no. One never stops learning.

"A draft issued in June has been attacked by conservative and religious groups, mainly in the United States [...]" What a surprise. Time for Americans to grow up.
- Sabine Hossenfelder
Why yes, it is time for us to grow up. As an American, I'm sorry for our immaturity leaking out so badly. I just try not to contribute!

"They argue that it would be better to concentrate on vaccinating those most likely to spread the virus—both schoolchildren and people between the ages of 30 and 40, who are likely to be the parents of those children" - What about frequent flyers?
