"I'll ignore your negativity. I have a standing invite for you to join me during my clinic hours to see how the scheduling goes and what we do for our patients. I'm fairly certain that you'll be a lot less negative and critical once you experience a day in our lives. Cool?" - Hisham
"It's not in our control. If you have a problem with the lunches then I'd suggest contacting the faculty at the hospital since they organize these lunches with the drug companies. If they don't comply then you're welcome to find another hospital." - Hisham
"Clearly you're not a doctor. You're more than welcome to shadow any physician for a week and see for yourself who is to blame for the delays. Here's a hint: 95% its the patients." - Hisham
"It's more than that. I have never taken a gift from a drug company--ever. Yes, they will bring lunch for our noon-time conferences but in no way are we obligated to prescribe their medications. Most of us don't bother. The initial comment about the physician-patient relationship is very true. If you (the patient) don't trust us (the docs) to have your best interest at heart then we've both failed. Ultimately the person who suffers is the patient." - Hisham
"It's entertaining in its own way. I've been in hospitals both in the US and UK so I've experienced a lot more than most US-only docs. If its one thing I can tell Digg... there is a lot of interpersonal drama in the hospital. If you think the things on Greys are unbelievable then you haven't seen nothing yet." - Hisham
"Last time I checked we have a sizable Muslim minority within the United States that has (for the most part) minded its own business and contributed to our country through an entire spectrum of jobs. Every so often various Muslim organizations release figures suggesting that hate crimes are still on the rise. To be blunt I've never understood why this was but I'm starting to realize there is a large chunk of society that really despises Muslims. Another troubling manifestation of this hate is the distrust of Obama being based off his purported religion of Islam. At the end of the day Obama isn't any less of a man or a candidate because of his religion--he has inspired our youth during this election and pushed an agenda for change in our great nation. It seems like Islamophobia is still alive and well because its fallen out of fashion to be anti-Semitic or prejudice against African-Americans. Maybe someday Islamophobia will also be shunned by the public but I'm not sure it'll happen in..." - Hisham
