I secretly believe they chose the name Doostang as a red herring, so they could build a best-of-breed product in public view while their competitors dismissed their chances based on their viscerally unappealing name. Once they get the product ready for prime time, they'll rebrand it something cool (like 'Awesomesauce') and take everyone by surprise, probably burning through some VC money to buy naming rights for Candlestick Park at the same time (now that Monster Cables is abandoning it). As a side note, I didn't know until their contract expired that the stadium was named for Monster Cables. I assumed it was the Monster.com job site. That explains a lot. - Kevin Fox
OMG, I always thought it was Monster.com too. Isn't that some kind of spectacular branding failure? - ⓞnor
Monster cables? Really? Add me to the list of people who thought it was monster.com. - Shannon Jiménez
Me four. I'm sure monster.com was happy about the confusion. - Dan Hsiao
I thought it was named for the monster underneath my bed. Was wondering where it got the money for naming rights. - hunter walk
