I have another confession: I still cannot get out of the habit of using Google Reader over feedly, even though feedly has been available in Chrome for several weeks.
I only read parts of my feeds/folders now (as I just don't have the time to read all of it) and find GReader itself much easier to navigate around.
- Kol Tregaskes
Someone entice me to use feedly over GReader. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Ain't gonna be me either. The folders in GR help greatly because the content of some folders can be skimmed in list view since several feeds have duplicates in them. I tried feedly but soon turned back to GR.
- Polly Potter
What I really like about feedly is that I feel a lot less "unread guilt". The item count is in an easily-ignorable light grey, and a single click marks everything read.
- invariant - farewell FF
@kol: a lot of existing Google Reader users prefer the GR UI because of the ability to scan articles, feeds and folders quickly. A few leverage the live sync and use both (scan the digest and finish the heavy reading in Google Reader). Others are looking for a slower, more fun experience and prefer the feedly magazine-like UI. People who are new to RSS are often in that third category and those are the people we are going after.
- Edwin Khodabakchian
I prefer GR over feedly more now too....Feedly was killing Firefox for me

"Robert H. Lustig, MD, UCSF Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Endocrinology, explores the damage caused by sugary foods. He argues that fructose (too much) and fiber (not enough) appear to be cornerstones of the obesity epidemic through their effects on insulin."
- Paul Buchheit
from Bookmarklet
That's been my experience. And sugar is highly addictive. Very difficult to get off of and stay off of. I went low-glycemic for 3 years then fell off the wagon. I've gone low-glycemic again intermittently ever since. I'm having a very hard time making it stick as a permanent lifestyle choice.
- Spidra Webster
I have been making an effort, lately, to eat healthily. I thought I ate healthily before, but I guess I didn't go far enough. I'm eating way more fiber and low glycemic index stuff, and... I feel great! It's really the feeling I'm surprised by, and it's fantastic.
- Danielle Fong
All I had to hear was that sugar causes your body to age faster due to the increase in insulin and that was me cutting down a whoooole lot of sugar in my diet... a couple extra pounds I can handle, but getting old - hell no! :))
- Kim
Noah, it's an image bookmarking service. The only way to get in on it is to be invited and each person gets one invite to pass on.
- Andrew Trinh
Is the chain still going? Because I would love to join the chain...

I did not kick much ass last night, most of the other skaters were much more experienced than I am. Except, apparently, for the one that led with her head and hit me in the face with her helmet. Big nono...

reaaallllly tired of all the new moon stuff too....
- Kim
np I'll let you know if it changes, still hoping one of our friends gets just sick enough that they can't travel and then we will priceline the hotel. :) HERE'S TO HOPING! ;)
- Andrizzle Gizzle
Keeping my fingers crossed. I always wanted to visit friends on the new moon.
- Michelle Martinez
Well hopefully Phil will be able to get some time in Dec or Jan to spend a few days, I have never been but his work has been crazy since like June. Bummer but I can't really complain about having a whole weekend to eat gravy.
- Andrizzle Gizzle
HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY...to my 'lil FF sis!!! You're one of my best buds in the world...aww hell girl, you're like family! ...I'm SO HAPPY that in the past year you've found, in Nice Bot, the love that YOU DESERVE! not to mention the LOVE and support you've given to Emma and I! Error: CRT detected. Gamer credentials revoked
- Mo Kargas
No, really. i know this guy. My boyfriend *IS* this guy. Tough on the ego, yo.
- Archangel ωαřмaiden
Note to all future girlfriends/lovers: If you start taking your clothes off while I'm playing video games, I *will* turn the computer off. IMMEDIATELY.
- Haggis (Sean Loyless)
@Archangel Perhaps you don't... I dunno, slap his face enough. Backhand him firmly
- Mo Kargas
Yeah, I can kind of see that...a high end CRT can push real 120hz and some gamers claim to be able to see beyond 85hz (I can't make that claim)...Even a lower end CRT can do 85hz, which is a timing that LCDs cannot match.
- Alex Scoble
True, but who wants to carry round another 20lbs for a few more HZ (and no humans can't see beyond 85hz)? And Alex, our Bravia has a 120hz refresh rate :)
- Mo Kargas
No, your Bravia does not have a 120hz refresh rate :) And don't assume that all humans can't see beyond 85hz, nor should you assume that having a system capable of pushing extra FPS doesn't give one an advantage.
- Alex Scoble
Yes it does, it says so in the spec sheet, are you telling me Sony's lying? Also Samsung and Sony have 240hz models ;)
- Mo Kargas
Sony lie about specs? Never. :) And no, they don't say that the refresh rate is 120hz...Also they get to those rates, not by taking discreet FPS inputs from a source, but rather by taking a 24 or 60hz input and running them through motion smoothing algorithms which cause you to lose detail...not the same as running a PC through a CRT at 120hz with a beefy CPU/GPU capable of playing Quake, etc. at 120FPS.
- Alex Scoble
So every LCD manufacturer claiming their screens have a "screen refresh rate" (reading the text printed on the specs sheet here) over 85hz are flat out lying ? Why bother writing it down if it's still effectively 60hz ?
- Mo Kargas
I'd understand with something as important and worthwhile as Halo, but Counter Strike Force? Really?
- Itachi
Why do camera companies make 15megapixel point and shoot cameras when the quality of those size sensors caps out at about 8megapixels and the higher pixel counts increase noise and file sizes without adding any real value? Marketing
- Alex Scoble
geeks discussing pixel counts and refresh rates. this confirms the strippers fails to impress gamers and FFGeeks
- Robert Higgins
CRTs are actually superior to LCDs? That's actually news to me. As for Russian strippers, sure they're okay and all that...
- Dennis Jernberg
In some ways, yes, Dennis, they are.
- Alex Scoble
OK, I'm not a gameplayer anyway, but I'd have the cans off and her in my lap by now.
- Ian May
does anyone else see the irony of a discussion on gamers ignoring gorgeous stripper lapdances ending up in a discussion about refresh rates......? hehe
- Kim
Hmmm, I dunno, Haggis. They're not bad, but I still would at least wait to get to a save point. Now, if Dita Von Teese showed up, ... :D
- Steven Perez
Why do you wait that guys to interrupt their games, They already have that chicks whenever they want.. It's Russia :)
- Sercan YILMAZ
That's not how I knew I was gay. I knew I was gay when I met Todd, a soldier going back to school on the GI Bill. Gaming never came into the equation. :)
- Derrick
Hehe... you guys are funny! So far I can think of three... food, pillow, and arousal!
- Georgia Diehl
If anyone ever said that I needed further convincing--ANY convincing whatsoever--as to the tremendously diverse inherent value of boobs, they were lying. LYING!
- Mark "DerBingle" J
I wouldnt know....... dont have much in the way of boob-age....
- Kim
yeah, it'd be a great idea - the first problem is there's always an asshole who'll break the chain rather than contribute. The second issue is there's no-one who has a FFFFOUND! invite ATM.

The Great Google Wave invite thread. Anyone who wants an invite post your Gmail address here and anyone who has invites available please use to invite the people on this list. There are also a bunch of requests in the Invites group here: http://friendfeed.com/invites
I have a few but holding them for a few people who have already asked me. I'm at kolint [at] googlewave [dot] com btw. A pain I know but if you can, could you update your comment when you have an account or just delete your comment. Ta! :-) EDIT: Try this site for invites: http://googlewaveinvites.com/
- Kol Tregaskes
Are people on this list getting invites or at least been told they have an invite on the way? You might have to be patient, it could take a long time for one to come through.
- Kol Tregaskes
Adam, yep agree. Maybe because I did that (month ago though) helped me get mine through from Vijay so quickly!
- Kol Tregaskes
@Kol, the invitation process seems to be based on nominations. For example, everytime someone nominates/invites you, you get bumped up the queue for an account until you're at the top and you get sent an invite by the team
- Ysabel Legaspi
Ysabel, ah I see, So lots of people must have nominated me. Darn, so a few users I have nominated could be waiting a looooong time. :-(
- Kol Tregaskes
if that voting system is right I'm very annoyed. I asked for an invite months ago, now all the numpties are all over it I'm not going to get a look in. It's like I've been sat at the front of a shop queue and everyone's just walking right past me into the shop. I am British but I detest both queuing and waiting, so this is pretty tough going

yes it is possible to eat everything. have you been in Thailand?
- Mahdi Ebrahimi
No, I've never been to Asia at all! And while I know it's possible to eat somethings, I don't *want* to eat some things. =) I have no problem eating caviar from Russian or Iran (?), but I won't eat salmon roe.
- Admiral Anika
Actually sturgeon caviar is made from eggs of caviar fish. last year when i was in Thailand i try different food like Bamboo worm and many more bizarre foods. they had different smell and taste. I also like Iranian caviar, the taste is unique and delicious. caviar is very expensive and maybe i have to fishing caviar fish in Caspian sea.
- Mahdi Ebrahimi
LOL That's one way to get it cheap! Here, it depends on where you buy it , or what company is on the label. I only buy caviar maybe 1 or 2 times a year, but I don't go broke doing it. I did see a documentary on how the fisherman in the Caspian harvest the eggs. Fascinating and gross at the same time. I wound up buying some Iranian caviar that same night!

i look like half of KISS when i go out. i'm learning to spew fire from my mouth and lick the ceiling, too. *tunes bass and puts on batwing platforms boots*
- Joe Silence is not Santa
Only when I don't leave the house. I can't live without eyeliner.
- Mary Carmen
All the time. I'm not a makeup kind of girl.
- EricaJoy
Eyeliner and lipstick are my every day staples. I do more when I go out. I reserve foundation for when I really want to feel like I'm trying. :D
- pea
Everyday. I'm not a makeup gal, either.
- Rochelle
you girls are beautiful do you really need these "rat in flour stuff"
- ffcode
I cant go without makeup, pale skin and blonde eyelashes mean that I look like I have piggy eyes if I dont have any makeup on..
- Kim
thats really sweet ffcode, but I'd like to think I do it effectively enough so I dont look like a 'rat in flour' :)) usually when I say to my friends that I cant go w/o makeup, they usually comment "but I thought you werent wearing any" (could be flattery ofc but I'd like to believe I have genuine friends ;))
- Kim
"Rat in flour"? I have never heard of that phrase.
- Rochelle
most of the days I just use eye-leash , I really like it
- Viva Vida
Eye shadow (brown or purple) and eyeliner every day to work and usually on weekends. I am old and wear glasses. Invisible but helpful mineral makeup too.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
Never wear it myself. Maybe I should start though. What do you think my congregation will think?
- Will-Pastor of FF
I don't even bother with an under eye cover stick anymore. And I was never big on mascara, myself.
- Helen Sventitsky
I only wear makeup when I perform, when I have a date in a nighttime situation and Halloween. In other words, about once a year.
- Spidra Webster
Most of the time. I like looking like I have eyelashes (they're nearly invisible without mascara), but my eyes are pretty sensitive :(

do you feel like filling that fountain in with cement yet?
- Joe Pierce
YES. I have one coin left to ding the whole coin achievement. Unfortunately it's a gold one. Grrrrrrr

Have you fished up the sewer rat yet? Or the turtle mount?
- Joe Pierce
No. I have to get myself into a mood for that. Also need to get Old Ironjaw and Old Crafty. Too much patience.
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
I need to get Old Ironjaw too. But, as a Tauren travel within Ironforge is not pretty.
- Joe Pierce
Tell me about it. There's no way I'm getting Old Crafty from Og without taking a fair amount of beatings (and even then, I'll prolly have to wait until 2am to do it)
- tinypants - Hagitha of FF
My friend (who is also Horde) told me that the other day he was able to spend a few hours in IF fishing because some Alli pulled out his mammoth mount, stood ontop of him and went afk. He had Alliance camouflage! That's bullcrap, every time I go there a gnome kills me.
- Joe Pierce
Oh that lucky Horde bastard! I'm lucky with Og in that it's usually the NPC's that are my biggest threat. But only at 2am... :)

"To create rodent VR, the team tweaked an open-source version of the first-person-shooter Quake II. They used the game's underlying physics engine to create a 3D virtual corridor that changes as a harnessed mouse walks atop a floating styrofoam ball. "The mouse is playing a video game," says Tank."

I don't think this is what John Carmack had in mind when he was making the game:)
- Michael Fidler
I cant help but chuckle at all the parents who said at one time or another "what value to games provide anyways?"
- Kim
we seem to live in an era where former "useless" stuff reveals its worth. for me a good proof, that it´s all about experiencing and playing...
- esther ♥ ♫
I beg your pardon but Quake 2 was never "useless" stuff. Great game!
- Michael Fidler
michael, I bet you know what I meant. a game has the stigmata of being something "just" for fun, what many people consider as less relevant than - say - an educational book.
- esther ♥ ♫
Esther, I don't have a clue what you're talking about. Everyone knows that you can learn more from a video game than from any "educational" book. Grand Theft Auto is a perfect example. It's full of wonderful life lessons. Seriously! LOL
