hao; firefox's paint delay is 100ms in FF3 and 250ms in FF2; if you set your initial setTimeout to 251ms it won't block the page loading in FF2 - Michael J Cohen
Thanks for the tip, Michael! I'll put that in there. - Hao Chen
Thank you! Hey, I was thinking about changing it to comments, likes, and only FF internal posts, instead of all posts because posts from other feeds don't necessarily mean you're online. What do you think? - Hao Chen
Facebook really needs to do something innovative soon... it has become a bit boring as T Hawk suggests - Ron Emrick via Alert Thingy
Oooh goodie, now Scoble can accept my friend invite! ha, ha!! - Susan Beebe
I will accept all of them as soon as they turn this feature on. - Robert Scoble
And that's going to bring the excitement back to Facebook? - Morton Fox
No. I still am very concerned that Facebook kicks people off with no recourse. But this gets rid of one of my problems with Facebook. I hear a ton of new features are coming, too. - Robert Scoble
Connecting Friends up is getting hot. I'll be at Google on Monday night to cover this stuff as it's announced. - Robert Scoble
Google may be more restrictive with your data, but that is good for your privacy. Some people won't like Facebook just giving your info away and trusting the site to play nice with it. FB certainly seems to have the upper hand in terms of users though. - Tanath
This is a huge departure for them, it goes against all the policy of the last 2 years. What strikes me as very odd though, is how they still dont alow you to have a truly public profile like every other social network on earth allows. Perhaps that will follow next. - Robert Kloosterhuis via twhirl
I can't imagine that letting people have more than 5000 friends will make Facebook *better*. Seems to me that an over-saturated connection tree makes for the noise that's the problem in the first place. What does it mean to have a friend in common when you have a friend in common with everyone? (I'm looking at you, Asif Anwar) - Kevin Fox
The Facebook friend pollution is a bad one, indeed. It's only useful for my family to play Scrabulous games, or connect with people from high school, church etc. I don't ever want to be at 5,000+. It's already ugly. - Louis Gray
Am I the only person who just doesn't get Facebook? I just can't get into it. I guess I was turned off by the people who have been harassing me to join their facebook. If I don't want to interact with you in real life, why would I want to do it online? - Gabriel N.
Suppose it's good if you are a band, celebrity but then you have the fan pages for that! - Joe Dawson
great for those on an ego trip, but I can't see keeping up with 500, much less 5000+ - Jody C
This seems great for the scammers and Scobles of the world, that's about it. - Shawn Farner via twhirl
Unlike Twitter, 5000 friends on Facebook is actually kinda cool. The newsfeed becomes this neat stream of marriages, breakups, parties, and random comments. It's much less random that you might think. - Leo Laporte
With only 44 Facebook friends, I have a LONG way to go! - Morton Fox
"Choose your friends carefully. Your enemies will choose you" - Yasser Arafat - Jody C
Hmm, surely with 5000+ friends this might even approach the level of complexity required to exhibit chaotic patterns. Perhaps an ideal chance to study chaos theory as it applies to social networking. After all, with that many friends posting, there's not much point in doing anything else with it. - Slippy Lane
How can I find out if you've subscribed to my FriendFeed? - Lawrence Liu via twhirl
According to the little bubble, not me. Even though you said the other day I was being added to the World Wide Talk Show. ;-) Oops, can't press Enter for a newline. What I was going to say, prior to the Post button getting unexpectedly pressed, is that I cannot imagine following 20,000 (or even some fraction of that) on FF. It's gotta be tough as it is on Twitter. - Joanmarie
Guessing that comments are the way to let you know :) - Jed White
Holy crap. You've practically got the SNN goin' on - Scoble News Network ?? You will all be featured this week on Fast Company TV - Submit bio to ... - Charlie Anzman
This is the greatest thing to happen to anyone ever! Cheesecake for everybody. - Akiva Moskovitz
I let you know via Twitter, perhaps this is more appropriate. - bill shamam
IF you are able to WITHSTAND fair portion of Russian (sorry, but I try to bring here my community from Russian segment of livejournal.com after buyout disaster) and/or stream of Nokia-tablet/Maemo/etc related-stuff and/or a lot of bitch about this and that... http://friendfeed.com/silpol ;) - silpol
Robert, I appreciate your efforts, but I'm afraid that if I follow you (and you follow me in return), I'll have to deal with a lot of noise, and a lot of hype. Once you get worked up about something, you have this need to talk about it all the time, and to impose your point of view (ex: FaceBook). That's why I unsubscribed from your blog a while back. I couldn't deal with it any more. You shot down two of my comments without even bothering to consider them. Take this for what it's worth, no hard feelings. - Raoul Pop
You're not subscribed to me, here, but anything I have to say that might be interesting to you, I say in a comment anyway... I'm not very talkative, but I enjoy watching your conversation! - Kenneth LeFebvre
@SteveHodson You're right! FF sure did get a lot noisier tonight - after all, it's open mic night at Scoble's World Wide Show.on Friendfeed aka "ScobleFeed" :-) sorry Robert, I couldn't resist the fun!! <FF poke?!> - Susan Beebe
