Looks like Davis Freeberg wins this week. I'm in Jamaica though so Jimminy, can you please take care of administration again for the week? Thanks!

In all the time I've been an adult, I've never wrapped a single xmas present. I've always done something lame like use a gift bag, etc. Every year Lindsay tells me that she'd really like me to wrap presents - "It's the thought that counts." So this year I wrapped presents. :( They look like something a deranged 4 year old might have done.
I'm embarrassed to show them to anyone - I guess I'll bring them out just before we open gifts so she and Avynn can have a good laugh.
- Chrimmus Tad
I'm sure she will appreciate the personal touch.
- Spidra Webster
Either way - I KNOW she'll like what's within the wrapping. :)
- Chrimmus Tad
I used to wrap presents all the time. Now I don't give presents. Not giving or receiving presents makes me very zen happy.
- Cristo
I think I may just unwrap them and take them someplace to get properly wrapped.
- Chrimmus Tad
I'm all thumbs when it comes to wrapping gifts, so it takes forever unless I used "cheats" like gift bags. When my wife and I would wrap the kids' presents she could do 5 or 6 in the time I took to do just one (and, yes, I WAS really trying!) Then I worked at Borders books one Christmas as seasonal help, and they put me on--you guessed it--free gift wrapping duty! I had all of the...

Don't, Tad. Trust me. She'll be really amused and it'll be endearing. I've purposefully poorly wrapped presents for years because it brings on the 'awwwwwwww' factor in a big way.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Tad, just get one of your girlfriends to rewrap it. ;)
- Cristo
I like that the local 'gentlemen's clubs' have free gift wrapping while you wait.

Gift wrapping is a marketable skill.

This is one of those things men fail to learn because they know a woman will kindly (or impatiently) end up offering to do it for them. DO NOT FALL FOR THIS.
- m9m, Crone of FriendFeed
m9m - As for myself, the ineptitude was no mere affectation... I literally need about 45 minutes to wrap a frickin' CD! My "fine motor skillz" ain't so fine, it would seem.
- Mark "DerBingle" J
Practice makes perfect....;) My husband has actually been going through this for years....struggling to wrap his gifts....but I love them all, and he actually has gotten better with time!
- Bonnie Foster
My mom could wrap presents professionally for Tiffanys or something. I mean, scary perfection that I have never been able to recreate, even going so far as to 'match up' the pattern on the paper when she folded it over (so you couldn't see the seam she would say). I am thinking of filming her doing it and making it as a how to video. Meanwhile, my father gets by with newspapers or leftover paper bags from grocery stores duct tapes / masking tape / leftover twine. I'm somewhere in the middle.
- Andrew Leyden
I too was once like you, until I got stuck in a Macy's for a long time (waiting on someone), and spent it watching the gift-wrapping people. It turns out that at least for rectangular stuff, gift-wrapping is really pretty straightforward. I kind of enjoy it now even though the Mrs. usually gets the credit for the stuff I wrap.
- Dave Roth
I'm not sure that I'd for sure name it best (it's kind of unfair to compare all different sorts of TV shows together in one category), but it's certainly the one I return to over and over and over again. (Too bad not all of the seasons were of equal quality, though.)
- Spidra Webster
Part of the impact of West Wing was the marked contrast between Josiah Bartlett's administration and the real-life version under Bush and Cheney.
- Mark "DerBingle" J
That may account for some of its popularity, Mark, but I think West Wing was popular for what marks a lot of Sorkin shows: excellent dialogue, fantastic mix of comedy and drama, supernal ensemble casting...and the extra for West Wing was being able to geek out over all that governmental stuff. The dialogue was so thick with it that repeat viewings reward you. Takes several times seeing an ep before you really feel you've gotten everything out of it.
- Spidra Webster
Without looking at other answers: Homicide, particularly the first year.
- AJ Kohn
First season of Miami Vice... unfadeable baby!
- Adrian
The West Wing was so awesome I remember bit characters. Like the guy in records or something who had the best line ever. "Well you're a strange little frumpy man, aren't you?" Of all the series I've loved, this one lasts the longest.

Plus most of the rest that ya'll listed. Good picks! :-)

better than TWW: Arrested Development, Futurama, Veronica Mars, The Simpsons (uh, stopping somewhere between end of season 9 and season 12 at the latest), 30 Rock, Community, and Newsradio. Action, Pushing Daisies, and Life, too if we can sneak in those shows that were "cancelled before their time". Buffy up to S5 but not past it. Esp considering the relative doldrums of TWW s3 - s6.
- Andrew C
That's easy, 24 and X-Files are far better. :-)
- Kol Tregaskes
Guess I'm just one of those peeps who think the west wing was boring. Couldn't get through an episode. Was more interested in ER at the time.

Rome series 1, BSG reimagined, Sportsnight, Buffy, Farscape, Magnum PI, Red Dwarf, Thundar the Barbarian, Underdog, M.A.S.H., Password, What's My Line?, I Love Lucy, The Carol Burnett Show all rank pretty high with me. I'm sure I missed some. Loved West Wing in doses, but it became taxing for me to watch.
- Michael W. May
West Wing is a tough show to compare shows to. As far as must watch TV: Damages, Flash Forward, Rescue Me, Dark Blue, Fringe, Lie To Me... This would be easier if I was near my DVR!

The West Wing might be my FAVORITE series but I think the BEST series was The Wire.
- Akiva Moskovitz
Good show, but best ever? Don't think so. The Wire and Rome, for instance, are way better. Heroes Season 1 (only), Kings, The Black Donnellys, Babylon 5, New BSG before season 4 are some more. Andrew C names a bunch more that I agree with.

I saw a clip. It showed a person being cowed into standing for the president. That was enough for me.
- SuezanneC Baskerville
What does cowed into standing for the president mean?
- Mona Nomura
intimidated - one is "supposed" to stand up when the president enters a room, at least according to the show. it's a statist ritual, like singing songs of praise to governments. i find it offensive.
- SuezanneC Baskerville
Respect != intimidation. Besides, what's wrong with showing respect to ranked officers? POTUS is the Chief of Staff.

My downstairs is basically one big room with stairs in the middle. I have been in this house 2 years now and haven't had a chance to paint. I plan to do it next week but I can't figure out what color. I don't like the colors it is right now but also don't know what color I want to commit the entire downstairs to... Frustrated and intimidated by the task. I know what colors I like, but...

Hmmmm...Have you tried looking at the paint manufacturer's websites? Or if you know that say you like a Mediterranean style, looking up inspiration like that? Example, I have a Spanish Mission house and love Spanish style, so I went to the bookstore and looked at books for that architecture. That how we chose the colors in our house.
- Admiral Anika
Our house doesn't have any particular style (at least any cultural or historic style), so nothing to go with from that angle. I don't really like the pastel Southwestern colors that most people go with around here... not my thang... I'm not really a traditionalist either... not big into muted colors or formal stuff. More eclectic. I like Asian styling but we don't really have the...

I'm tempted to paint a dark color because one wall is mostly windows, but the other side of the house is not so that would be like a cave. I like bold colors, but also am stuck with a moss-green couch that limits my options (especially going light).
- Fa La La La Lindsay
You don't have to adhere to any one thing. Even though my colors were inspired by Spanish Ranch style, the decor in my living room has items from Thailand, Morocco, Bali, West Africa and Ikea. =) Go with what you like. I wouldn't suggest copying something exactly from a book, but getting a glimpse of what speaks to you. To me, that works better than limiting to some style.
- Admiral Anika
Oh, and a moss-green sofa, looks best with light colors. Most of my friends have that color sofa and from eggshell white to buttery yellow walls it works. I've seen pale purples with that sofa color.
- Admiral Anika
I can't help you with the color, but do yourself a favor and use Behr Premium Plus...excellent paint. Was recommended to us by a friend of mine that used to run his own painting business. We used their Chianti color and it only took two coats and it's a dark red. I won't use any other paint.
- Alex Scoble
you should convert your downstairs into an aikido dojo :)
- imabonehead
I was really wanting to do a turquoise blue in the kitchen... but it just doesn't go with the couch... I have a lot of dark redish purple accents so maybe the light purple is a better choice... just have to rethink the kitchen. :(

@imabonehead - one day we'll have a temp dojo in the garage... if I ever find time to clean it out.

The good thing about paint is that it can work to delineate. I had an open floorplan place where the living room was a green, dining room blue and kitchen was red. I used browns and whites to tie them together. Even in my current place, I have the yellow walls in the living room and dining room. The yellow in the living room is slightly darker and I used dark brown & orange accents. The...

Lindsay, there are no hard and fast rules. You can stop/start color wherever you want! You can even use some sort of decorative border on the wall. In one place, that sounds a lot like your place, I had some low bookcases separating the LR from the DR. On the wall, the LR color was green, the DR color was yellow. They touched. I put the end of sideboard where the DR color started on that wall.

I'm very disappointed in myself for only meeting 2 FriendFeeders this year. I don't know exactly how many miles I've traveled, but I need to do better at meeting you guys.
Austin or San Antonio seem like the nearest places to meet FFers. Actually, doesn't Josh live in Houston? It seems like a bunch of folks will be meeting in Portland around Derrick's time up there. And I would be willing to bet a lot of FFers will be in Austin for SXSW. Don't feel bad, though. We have plenty of FFers in the SFBay Area/Sili Valley and I haven't heard of a true F2F yet up here. LA is the F2F capitol of FF right now.
- Spidra Webster
I'm seriously thinking about heading down to Austin during SXSW. I won't be attending, but I'm hoping to meet a few people there. I spend more time with you guys than I do with my RL friends.

You guys should create a Texas room here at FF so you can develop some unit cohesion (cue juvenile jokes).
- Spidra Webster
I like that idea, too. I'm going to give it a day or two to make sure someone hasn't created one already.
- ha3rvey (free hugs!)
From what I can see, there's no general TX group. There are individual groups for Dallas, San Antonio, Houston and Austin as well as "Trans Pecos Texas".
- Spidra Webster
I was going to create one. I'm thinking public. What do you think?
- ha3rvey (free hugs!)
on the one hand, that seems fair. on the other, private would prevent loads of non-Texans from getting in and making a mess of things. i'm divided.
- Joe Silence is not Santa
I would suggest public so others can peek in and set up meet-ups if they're traveling to TX. Not a Texan but met four FFeeps there this year ---->
