Google I/O attendees are in the sandbox. I expect Google to begin to invite other developers within the next month or so. They have to open it up to interested developers in order to get extensions and cool apps made before launch. Wouldn't surprise me if they have an invite scheme over the summer too and then publicly launch it later in the year. - Brandon Titus

There's a link to request a user invite from the http://wave.google.com page, but definitely the fastest way to get on it now is to be a developer - guruvan (Rob Nelson) from PeopleBrowsr

...or know a developer. I assume developers will be able to create multiple accounts in the sandbox, otherwise how would you go about testing anything? Any developers out there who need an extra tester, feel free to message me. - Dave
