Gizmodo UK : O2 Admits iPhone 3G Shortage For Friday - http://uk.gizmodo.com/2008...
Well, best get my tent ready and head off down tonight then yeah? - Simon Wicks from Bookmarklet
A few dozen per O2/CPW store, thats just stupid. I dont see why the Apple stores will be getting more stock either, if only NEW customers can goto those stores. What about people already on O2, its not fair that we have to put up with trampling on heads to get one on Friday. - Simon Wicks
Well, O2 only allocated part of its stock to pre-orders, so I suspect the larger stores will have plenty. And don't forget that Carphone Warehouse has stock, too. (http://tinyurl.com/5r3ket) - Jules
No larger stores near my office though :( Only a small one, so all i can do is hope. Because there is no way im queueing over night or anything. I want one, but not that bad.. - Simon Wicks
But is there likely to be more demand for the iPhone this time..? I seem to recall a lot of deserted stockists in outlying areas last time around -- and that *was* a launch event... - Jules
I'm hoping everyone thinks everywhere will just be out of stock by the time they get there. Thus, giving me more of a chance to get my hands on one :) - Simon Wicks
Amazingly, despite not completing the order process, I got email notification of a successful upgrade order this afternoon - so my phone will be on its way soon. - Ian Betteridge
Reports are coming in of O2 sending emails to iPhone pre-order customers asking them to call a 0870 number to confirm their identity. When O2 eventually answers, they're asked to email a scan of their passport... Anyone else had such a request? - Jules
Any clue as to how/why they contact particular people? - Richard Peat
Jules: I'm guessing that might be for new customers, if true - certainly, I've had nothing like that from them (I'm an upgrade customer though). - Ian Betteridge
Mine has now been dispatched, no passport requred. - Ian Betteridge
