Ciaoenrico I kinda take offense to that. My avatar is me, it's my face and I shared it on FF after a LOT of thought about it (plus some gender confusion, but that's another story). Because a woman might be considered attractive she *shouldn't* user her face as an avatar otherwise she's just trying to get followers? Bull crap, and sexist to boot.

I don't think it's a problem pointing out your crushes, hun. I think it's the fact that it's titled "The Hotties of FriendFeed" that can make people kind of uncomfy. That comes across as a direct judgment of peoples' looks, even though we know you didn't mean it that way.

Derrick - But a lot of the stuff you post to the really gay room is pretty meat market-ish. Just because they're professional models it's okay to objectify them? We naturally objectify each other because we naturally are sexual creatures. I'm not offended by being on this list, but I don't like being objectified and I think what Haggis has done is a sweet gesture, not a gesture of blind testosterone rubbing one out.

Mattie, any pics I post in the Really Gay Room are A) *in* the Really Gay Room, and B) pictures culled from sites that are meat-marketish to begin with. I would never post pics of Scoble or Louis Gray and say, "oh these are guys I'd like to see naked". And I'm not knocking Sean. I freakin' love Sean. But I also know that there are women on the list who've worked hard at getting to where they are in life and in their careers and to be thought of as a pin-up on FF isn't their bag.

I don't see how posting this in a room would make it any different a situation, Derrick. I don't think that Sean ever said he wanted to see any of the women on the list naked. Is that something I skipped over while scanning the comments? If he said that, then yes. This list is pretty lame. But being admired for your beauty isn't bad. Especially since (for me at least) being a hottie entails being incredibly intelligent and engaging.

Amanda - I don't think not being on the list deems you unattractive and I don't think Haggis is the be all end all of who is or is not attractive. Wow. I'm on the list. BFD. I don't feel or bubbly inside, nor did I take it very seriously. nah. Gintama is nothing like Bleach. Bleach is purely endless fights that have nothing new to them. Gintama has the greatest fights you'll ever see and also comedy that will KILL you with laughter. Plus Toilet Humour. Gintama has TONS of Toilet Humour.

absolutely. Gintama's the greatest anime ever. And unlike other anime it doesn't have a stupid story that the hero HAS to pursue for the anime to make sense. Gintama is just the daily life happenings of a samaurai, an alien girl + her pet and an otaku. And that's where things are so clever. Since there is no set storyline and no goal for the hero, stories are incredibly creative, funny and riveting. Gintama's the greatest anime man has ever known. Recommended a 1000 times over.

Daniel, watch the first 15 epis of Gintama and you'll ditch every other anime you've ever seen till date 'cuz they don't stand up to Gintama's level. Well I'm more of a cyberpunk/mindfuck anime fan, but I do enjoy the occasional violence anime, so this ought to be good. =p I would like to suggest Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei (very funny humour/parody anime) and Battle Programmer Shirase (about a deliquent hacker, also humour/parody), they're pretty damn awesome, and fairly short in terms of episodes.

Daniel, this is not pure violence. It's a LOT of comedy + the right amount of violence. And if you like Zetsubou sensei then defintiely check out Gintama as it has the same style of humour but done a lot better. Defragging really only matters with heavily accessed files anyway, though free space optimization, on the other hand, is very useful. It prevents future files from being fragmented when stored to the disk, by filling all small pieces of free space with small files from other places on the disk, leaving you with only one or two big, continous regions of free space.

Ever ran a fsck on an ext3 based system? You will get a message saying something akin to "XX% non-contigous", which is how fragmented it is, this can easily get into the 20-30s on long running systems, and there really is no tool for defragging it. This is why ext4, for instance, will come with an online defragging tool. The most commonly used nix filesystems ARE more resistant to defragging, this is true, but they are not invulnerable. Even worse, there are no tools to deal with it.

I don't believe it when they say this data structure "manages to achieve" "comparable performance" to random access on Vector. I suspect it's at least 10 times slower, which I consider outside the realm of "comparable". It's probably about as optimized as you'll get for a mutation-free data structure in Java, but...

yeah, probably not as fast, but to be anywhere near as fast and not have to worry about concurrency issues as much is pretty cool. it's possible that persistent data structures + stm is to locking what garbage collection is to manual memory management: not as efficient in all cases but worth being rid of the complexity. TBD whether it end up being as big a deal

This always surprises me but clearly AT&T just didn't care enough to put mobile nano\femto-cells in place before the event. Maybe the covered the venue itself but the flash mob nature of the evening sessions\parties might just be too hard to prepare for. In any case this is going to become an increasing problem as high bandwidth data use kicks in - the infrastructure to support it needs to be a lot more capable than that needed for standard voice.

You're right, let's raise a ruckus about this one, too. It's just as bad as the other thing. The only difference is that in the other case both were famous recording artists. This chick is just one of those 15 minutes kind of people. Reality-show-famous. Just a step away from (but not better than) internet-famous (yep, I said it)

What's the LOL? I think it's odd that people continue to defend Brown and almost shrug it off like she deserved it or something? As if her hitting him and then him beating her was the acceptable reaction.

The point is, you have no clue what happened. Nobody does. None of us were there. All anyone has to go on is a blurry photo. For you to say CB tried to kill her is beyond ridiculous.

I read your posts on this and yes, I see your point - women should be held accountable when they are abusers as well. And yes, we don't know what happened that night - I agree with those things. But beyond all that - him hitting her was unacceptable - end of story - unless his life was in immediate danger and he was defending himself - which does not seem to be the case. The police arrested him on 2 felony counts. It seems odd to go out of your way to defend him.

She attacked him with a high-heel shoe in a moving vehicle. She's not even the one that called the cops from what I heard. It was a guy that heard her screaming at CB in the street. I'm not sure what you'd consider "immediate danger", but how come it's acceptable for her to hit him? By not expressing your distaste for that side of it, you're basically saying it was ok.

It's not acceptable for her to hit him. It's not acceptable for him to hit her. I would just caution against using the argument that because she hit him first she somehow deserved it or there shouldn't be outrage over this - because that's what happens - people who are abused are often blamed - If they are both abusive in the relationship they have issues they need to sort out. I see your point.

Everyone got all emotional at the first hint of this story. Even when there were NO facts available. Oprah did a freaking live special about it. They have painted this young man as a woman beater. Everyone makes assumptions about what went down. They want to take his success from him, his respect, his fans. Nobody cares about the fact that he may very well have just been trying to get the chick off him. They were both wrong, but all the CB outrage is just not necessary

Maybe it's because I don't even like Chris Brown, but love that Umbrella song :) - I get it... I see your point - I like your posts, you are a level headed guy (so it seems from FF). I think there is a lot of emotion in these cases - I wonder what the reaction or even story would have been if CB got in a fight with some other male celeb.

From the bits and pieces of descriptions I've heard of her injuries, Rahsheen, it sounds like he went beyond trying to get her off of him. But then, like I said, I'm no expert and I haven't paid very close attention to the whole thing. I barely know who Rihanna is and I hadn't heard of Chris Brown until this happened. Just heard it through the inescapable office chatter.
