This is my default. Different password for every site and let firefox do the remembering (not the highly sensitive passwords though).
- EricaJoy
Thanks for this - personally I have a password db but I run a forum with a lot of inexperienced people who get their accounts taken over and then say 'But it's too HARD to remember a better password! It's not MY fault they stole my account!' This is something I'll be passing on to them.
- ilene
YES, this is a huge element of online ID security
- Susan Beebe
my tip is creating a diff password for every site by adding the name of the site somewhere in the password itself.
- sean808080
Mikael, I think I made the same comment on another thread, but yes, he is.
- Duncan Riley
Duncan: What I missed? Another thread?
- Erhan Erdogan
I wonder who he's been palling around with lately? ;-)
- Jeff P. Henderson
You could hear a pin drop among a certain Friendfeed faction when this fact was divulged.
- Sean McBride
Bjorn: Thanks I see! ; ) I won't follow Robert anymore, he sounds like a Muslim! : ))
- Erhan Erdogan
Yeah for Robert and yeah for Freedom of Religion. This country is cool because you can believe what you want without fear of oppression. I love the diversity and wish all countries were tolerant and embraced faith like this.
- Susan Beebe
I can't wait for someone to bring up my association with Robert Scoble when I run for President. Well, that and I'm not eligible. :)
- Morton Fox
Well, it seems like it is more in name only. But, yes. :)
- Yolanda
It's worse than that. I'm an agnostic Muslim who went to an evangelical Christian church for more than 10 years. My mom belonged to a survivalist cult in Montana, too. I wonder how much more screwed up my belief systems could become? :-)
- Robert Scoble
It's interesting and at the end of the day it shouldn't matter. I'm conflicted. I think it's something to talk about since our current environment seems to reflect a certain lack of religious expression/freedom. But it's just that fact that makes it noteworthy - if things were as they should be, religion shouldn't be an issue.
- AJ Kohn
Robert - actually, you landed on your feet. You share roughly the same beliefs as Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, James Madison and the rest of the celestial crew who invented America.
- Sean McBride
My brother is a muslim? Guess I can't vote for him anymore then. :p
- Alex Scoble
What is a 'muslim'? Never heard of it before.
- Akiva Moskovitz
I'm technically a muslim too...although FFAAARRRR from a practicing one. Whiskey anyone?
- Zee.
In America, you can believe whatever you like in the way of religion, as long as you don't coerce others to share your beliefs. What a simple and brilliant concept.
- Sean McBride
Yolanda are you saying Robert is a M.I.N.O.??
- Her Lindsay-ness
Les - yes a side bar would be great. Shouldn't be too hard, but I haven't done an add-in before. Would solve some of the frame issues - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
Thanks for the likes! - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
only gripe so far is that I'm used to the google reader shortcuts (j,k for next prev), otherwise looks great.
- John Duff
John - I'll add J and K. I got N and P from google reader :) - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
I can't get it to work. I just see a 2 blank panes. I want the love!
- Matt Hartzler

hmm... lemme look and see if there are any errors on the server side - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
Works great in safari. Very nice. - via StumbleRead

I wish the comments were reverse chronological so newest comment was on top. - via StumbleRead
- Matt Hartzler
Server side looks in good shape. Don't know about reverse chrono comments - need to take a vote :). - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
I was thinking of hiding comments after the last two. - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
OK - I deployed support for J and K hotkeys :). - via StumbleRead
- Adam Loving
Thanks Adam! How about collapsing the comments down to show the first and last couple, with a more link, like friendfeed does?
- John Duff
Another thought, is there any way to filter out posts that you have already looked at, unless there was a comment added?
- John Duff
John - yes collapsible comments sound great. Any preference on whether the comments are in chronological or reverse chronological order? So far I've got one strong vote for reverse :).
- Adam Loving
With regard to dropping read posts... I think I could make this work. I don't think it would be too disruptive because the posts get scrambled every 180s (to preserve the "most recently touched" order that FF puts them in). I feel an options page coming on...!
- Adam Loving
adam: nice job. small UI thing: is there a way to insert a line break after "{ } posted an item on { }"? as is, this line runs right into the title of the linked item, and causes a momentary bump as you're reading along. thanks!
- Bill Barol
Hi Bill - excellent point. I didn't want to add a full line break there in order to condense everything as much as possible. However, today I added a colon to give it a little more separation. hope that works for you.
- Adam Loving
I'm pretty new to all this FF stuff but, to my newbie eyes, this is a great bit of kit Adam! Also love the way you're responding so swiftly to users' comments :)
- Bob Kingsley
FYI, links to NY Times articles seem to close the left-hand StumbleRead panel.
- Robert Gable
I wasn't able to find away around pages with "frame buster" javascript (like the NYT). However, I've introduced a new "pop-out" mode which doesn't suffer from this problem.
- Adam Loving
Has seemed very clunky to me as well.
- Andy DeSoto
I like Evernote too. My problem is that I keep migrating systems - and that seems to defeat a major purpose --unifying all my notes in one place. The most comprehensive and well designed note-sysem (for mac) I've seen and still use is Journler (and its surprisingly still free). I also use 'sidenote' for quick instance access notes. Seems there should be a differentiation between note 'capture' (evernote, sidenote, etc) and note storage/organizing.
- Leif Hansen
I tried Evernote on an iMac (OS X 10.5.4) and had lots of trouble getting screen captures or photo captures to work. Also found that I had to close and reopen the app to get it to display new notes made from screen caps, even when the screen cap actually worked.
- Dimitrios Diamantaras
evernote is cool - i simply forget to use it everytime ;) as soon as i have bookmarked something interesting, i also forget about it thesame time...
- Dieter Schwarz
the iPhone client needs to cache notes locally - at least some useful subset. there's nothing worse than relying on a notes app to store timely info and then not being able to call it up when you critically need it.
- Jon Price
Gahh Robert! I had been going back and forth between OneNote and Evernote last month and finally decided on OneNote. Then I watched your video and now I'm reconsidering Evernote again. Why do you have to make my life more difficult? :-P
- Mohit
really interesting video! Love the screen capture and ocr functionality.
- Randy Ksar
love EVERNOTE been using it for a while now...
- laleh
I was a beta tester and have been hooked ever since. The user interface interaction between desktop client and web service is great.
- Mikael Pittam

The recognition of the handwriting is amazing
- sdfx
The one feature it's really missing is being able to stitch photos together - Specifically, panoramas of whiteboards.
- Chris Weiss
from twhirl
the desktop client is even worse than the web interface. I am looking into onenote again, especially for integration with outlook.
- Nicole Simon
i am using an amazing mac app called notebook. much better and much cleaner than evernote.
- Kfir Pravda
if I can't edit the note on my iPhone, it is of no use to me.
- Robert Hafer
Onenote is a fantastic tool. Someplace between a notepad and a wiki. It has great sync tools, really good sharability and collaberation abilities and good integration. I like evernote mostly as a web clipping tool (it does that better than OneNote) but thats about it.
- Soulhuntre
from twhirl
Onenote is very nice, but it doesn't run on my Mac and iPhone.
- Robert Scoble
I have loved this product ever since I heard about it (a few months ago). I can take notes from anywhere on any computer, and the iPhone integration is especially nice. I just used it today for a site survey (had to take pictures using my phone and comment on it).
- Peter Ghosh
I just use plain text files for most purposes, and save my images in iPhoto. I'm still not getting the value from these note-taking applications you young people go on about. And that "hop hip" music you like to listen to. And get off my lawn!
- Mitch Wagner
been playing with onenote, yoono and evernote. evernote wins.
- Christian Anderson
The reason I like Evernote? I can use it on my mobile phone. We go to the bookstore a lot and it's perfect for adding urls to cool things I find in magazines (but don't want to buy the magazine to remember) and for noting books I might want to buy later, or jotting down ideas for projects I find in books or mags, or doing research (I have been looking at purchasing a camera... used it go to through the latest camera mags and jot down models that got good reviews and what the interesting features were).
- Her Lindsay-ness
@Scoble; It'd be great if you could interview the OneNote team about what they're doing to challenge products like Evernote, especially in terms of online and mobile access of notes. Just an idea.
- Mohit
Hey Scoble - I've been debating getting a paid Evernote account. Your interview has pushed me over the fence and I'm going to go for it after hearing some of the features they have planned to enhance it with. Just thought you might like to know. :)
- Her Lindsay-ness
There has been a lot of talk lately about the changing face of the blogging landscape. Darren Rowse of ProBlogger asked if blogging has lost its relational focus; Scoble explained why tech blogging has failed you; and even though not everyone agreed with his every statement, there was a renewed commitment in the blogosphere to return to blogging about what excites instead of just writing about "Apple's newest gizmo or the peccadillos of tech personalities." However, we're wondering if people even need to blog anymore...at least in the traditional sense.
- Hisham هشام

So is this going to be really in the future ? I still believe that blogging creates those lifestreams through what we post and share with others ..
- Hisham هشام
News network to track friend feed(ing) and lifestreaming news all in one place. anyone can join, add topics/feeds - http://www.socialmedian.com/network...
SUMMARY: this news network currently contains an aggregated feed on all topics lifestreaming: e.g. friendfeed, twitter, plurk, socialthingy, etc. Sort of like a concentrated Techmeme on the topic with social features. You can add more feeds and topics too.

Jason, would love to get your personal recommendations on which News Network to join. Thanks!

In the past few days Facebook added a new feature on the Friends page which enables you to view “Friends without Facebook Profiles”.
- Hisham هشام

Love this - wish they'd just cooperate with Google and do FriendConnect as well though.
- Jesse Stay
cool, smart feature; and it's about time
- Susan Beebe
reminds me of friendfeed's imaginary friend feature...
- yvons
great, so now people who don't want to get on the Facetrain get support to put peer pressure on their friends. :-/
- Mark Edmondson
this has been around since the new profiles came out a week ago. it says all my friends are already on facebook. i guess i converted everyone in my sphere of influence. ;)
- Rodney Rumford
Now hat I have gotten my new place situated a bit I am considering hosting a tweet up for a small group at my place or someplace else in the south bay area. Anyone located in the area that would be interested in attending?
great ideas I never thought of doing that before might be cool to mix and match a pretty picture and one of these other alternitives

I'll stick with your nightime shot of the Whitehouse (currently parked on the big design display) and the Ester Dyson shot (on the MBPro). Thanks btw for open sourcing your photos! :)
- Gerald Buckley
Great find... just got started on the GTD path, so this + your last WorkTV segment were very timely. THX again

Active Desktop FTW. I've put myself together a tabbed page via Yahoo! UI tab view library, with things like Airset, remember the milk, various igoogle gadgets inc password generator, a tab with another set of tabs inside it for webmin for various servers, a tab for phpMyAdmin, one for site company wiki, one for company trac server, one for a tiddlywiki 'scratchpad'. All of this accessible with just two keys (WIN + D) = productivity++.
- Mat
I'm not a fan of wallpapers. I generally have black or some cool nasa image, currently of a hurricane from the space station. I do like to use an app called sideslide on the pc, for most of the same reason people put icons on their desktop.
- Shawn McCollum
Finally proper use of the desktop! yeah...cool idea
- Susan Beebe
Can I not just rely on one service to replicate my posts across all these other services using some sorta extensible open api ? Twitter being the biggest whale in this ocean atm would ideally be the primary source of sorts but so lacks in other areas of the social graph ! Looking for a friendfeed in reverse I guess ? Scratch that invert it grrrr how frustrating ! love FF shame it makes regular folk run away in fear brains a melting :)
- David Smith
@David coz a lot of us have different audiences on each service. eg. I am invested in FF and twitter and pownce, in that order and just cross post to jaiku.
- Shivanand Velmurugan
Was very impressed with the 'new' Twirl - Using it since Loic posted it last night. Giving this a spin now ....
- Charlie Anzman
I particularly dig the Posty screenshot.
- Louis Gray
I thought you would Louis :-) Apol for not linking to you, I'd already written the post and screenshots are the last thing I do pre-publication.
- Duncan Riley
No problem at all, Duncan. I didn't link to you because my story went first. :-)
- Louis Gray
LOL @ Louis - of course you like I like - what's not to like?! :*) I like it!
- Susan Beebe
Louis, by a matter of minutes....I'll have to be quicker next time ;-)
- Duncan Riley
This is good...I have been a Twitter user for the past couple of months or so. I waiting to see how this will pan out...but from side whatever works is good enough.
- Suhit Anantula
@louis actually mine went first - posty got a mention at the bottom. ;) ha ha @duncan thanks for the link :)
- Sarah Perez
@Sarah: you're welcome :) but don't click that link now...looks like identi.ca is down...
- Trent Olson
@David Smith, the whole point of openmicroblogging is to do that kind of federated network for you. So, YES, but we have to get the other services to sign on.
- Evan Prodromou
Seriously though, it seems like identi.ca is just copying everything twitted does with a huge lag. Anything new could have easily been tacked onto twitter as others have done, instead of going to the trouble of creating a whole new posting service to fracture the community. It may have uptime going for it but that is only good while they are small. Will they scale any better?
- Ernie Oporto
Ok. Let's start an auction! How much do you bid to receive the notification of the new version Posty TEN minutes before the rest of the group? Place you bid ;)
- funkyboy
from Posty
If you send the same message starting with @TwitterUser to more than one user Twitter will Ban you! Time to move to identi.ca How many of you have identi.ca account?
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
what the heck? So how are you supposed to thank more than one person using a single tweet?
- Glenn Batuyong
I think there's more going on here than that specific process resulting in spamming, Igor. I'd say you're probably flagged.
- Greg Lexiphanic
Oh really? I guess that means Twitter is no longer allowing retweets to a particular follower. Funny, I haven't read anything about that on Twitter's blog. You sure they don't mean sending the same message individually to more than one follower using the @ sign can be considered spam?
- Sharon McPherson
I did this a couple of days ago - haven't been banned yet! As Greg says, there's more going on. I'll move to identi.ca if / when my network moves there. However, I'd expect them to have to take anti-spam measures too if they became popular.
- David Sim
Where did you find this out? Have you got a source? Doesn't make sense to me how will this stop spam?
- Gez
but sometimes we do want to send the saem message to more than one preson..... voila, then we have the twitter account banned.. how aweful!!
- Moksh Juneja
from twhirl
The only mention I can find on Twitter's blog about spammers is related to the jerks who follow thousands of peeps in the hope that some will follow them back, so they can blast them with links to their site. http://blog.twitter.com/ Quite honestly Igor, your pattern of 'I've been banned for no good reason' rants have become more than a litle annoying.
- Sharon McPherson
"As noted originally, you have more than once used the @ reply functionality to spam the same content to multiple users." I was told this in an email by Jason Goldman Twitter representative.
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
Sharon Bray-McPherson I have not be Banned from Twitter yet! LOL But I know a few people who have!
- Igor The Troll יִצְחָק
MyOpenID and LiquidID. I actually have liquid connected to the other. I like liquid because of the aliased email it provides. that's a nice feature.
- Jason Shultz
from twhirl
Yahoo, because I already had one with Flickr.
- James (@willia4)
Checking out MyOpenID. I've been using MyVidoop, but it's so slow: I hate having to leave the site just to log in, and I wish it were more embedded.
- Mark Trapp
I'd have to say myOpenID as well. It was the first. It seems to be the most compatible, and it supports Windows CardSpace.
- Dave Dugal
ClaimID - it was the easiest to use during the early days of OpenID madness.
- Susan Beebe
am I the only one who uses aol? :p Since I have had the aim ID for years just seems easy enough.
- Robert Cooper
Yahoo..figured it was time for me to get my own MyBlogLog account (instead of using my husband's) and it asked about OpenID at the same time, so I signed up... 30 mins ago actually.
- Jasmin Smith
vidoop or certifi.ca because they represent non password openid which is the only way to do it
- Tyler Gillies
I understand the security benefits of using the grid instead of a password, but it adds like a good 5-6 seconds to my login process, on top of the time it takes to leave the site and load up Vidoop. It breaks my workflow tremendously. There has to be a balance of security and usability: I think passwords are still that balance.
- Mark Trapp
Using your own domain at MyOpenID is a great idea. Thanks for the tip.
- Matt Devost
I prefer websites that allow me to log in using my Gmail account. My second choice is Wordpress, but they don't remember me as frequently as I would like and I have to keep signing in.
- John Budnik
Like mel, my own domain with phpMyID - does the trick, and the URI will be around as long as I remember to renew my domain reg (note to self)
- Micah Wittman
from twhirl
I delegate off my own domain to wordpress.com or any other OpenID 1.0 provider. I tried yahoo! and it broke some stuff.
- rob friedman
AOL. I think have a bunch of SNs floating around through AIM.
- Steve Spalding
myopenid - was one of the first to launch and I just got it
- Sasha Kovaliov(.com)
MyOpenID here as well - simply because this was the first name I could remember when I finally had to sign up for an account.
- Svetlana Gladkova
Using LiveJournal, since I've had an account there for years.
- Woodrow Jarvis Hill
myOpenID, back then I believe they were the only one, registered with a few more later on, but never moved
- Dobromir Hadzhiev
I prefer Verisign. The company has already earned the trust of internet users with their certificate services and now they have built a Firefox Addon called Seatbelt. I really like their service. http://twurl.cc/2zk
- Keith - @tsudo
Interesting - will we start to see replies "MySpace" here in the near future. How many people will actually want to use them for OpenID?
- Svetlana Gladkova
from twhirl
I use my.yahoo.com with the logic that my email add is also there. Goodness know if those will become microsoft.com addresses one day soon.
- Ernie Oporto
btw, Seesmic integration in Twirl is great. Nice job. Congrats to the IT guys at Seesmic

wonder.. since identi.ca is in so early phase maybe getting the "global" feed was better.. help to know new ppls
- Naor Mark
wow seems like more and more peeps are using identi.ca ...
- Emmanuel Pozo
Okay now I think would be a good time to use ping.fm or have a universal input field to post on all of these services at once. Can't have all these service windows on my screen at once!
- Glenn Batuyong
from twhirl
hey Glenn, we are working on something similar to ping, maybe twhirl will integrate with our service..
- Emmanuel Pozo
+1 to Glenn, was thinking about it as well, sending 1 message to be received in all services including twitter, identi.ca, plurk etc. Can save plenty of time.
- Nir Ben Yona
from twhirl
no OpenID support for identi.ca and is there planned support for general laconi.ca users?
- dbcohen

when will u blend the services so I can see one cohesive conversation?I hate having 5 Twhirls open as much as I like you guys :(

cool, an iPhone app would be awesome, hey Loic, I think we might have a great service to integrate into Twhirl which would make posting 2 multiple accounts seamless.

- João Almeida
