"The widely imitated Mythos Series literally redefined the concept of floor-standing loudspeaker from big dark box to thin and sexy gleaming showoff when it was introduced. Mythos Towers are the perfect floor-standing complement to your wall mounted or table mounted flat screen television. Mythos tower loudspeakers combine the elegant look of curved, hand-polished aircraft-grade Aluminum with state-of-the-art engineering technology that delivers the classic level of Definitive Technology sound quality: wide, dynamic soundstage, pinpoint imaging, and superb realism. Packed into these thin towers are proprietary damping technologies that ensure total rigidity, D'Appolito Driver Arrays in narrow PolyStone baffles (voice-matched with whole Mythos line for easy mix-and-match system building), Definitive's exclusive Planar Technology Pressure Driven Bass Radiators to enhance low frequency response, and sophisticated Linkwitz-Riley Crossover Networks to more perfectly blend the drivers into a sonically seamless audio environment."

Hmm, trust Neil Gader or Alex Scoble. Decisions decisions! :)
- jcunwired
Oh wait...these aren't one of their bipoles...forget my remark.
- Alex Scoble
LOL Alex. So they might not be a bad option after all?? They did sound nice in the store but I do trust your wisdom.
- Amani
I've got Mythos 4's, Gem's and Mythos 7 center and they're outstanding for movies and music :)
- Shane
Do you only have the Mythos for the fronts? If so, how is the surround sound aspect? Where did you get your Mythos from?
- Amani
Yes, Mythos 4's are fronts. Gem's are rear. Speakers are powered by Denon 3808. Surround sound aspect is good enough for my ears! I got mind in Toronto. Amazon's sells the Mythos 5's - has a couple of reviews - http://bit.ly/1gDcKi. http://www.avsforum.com/ is my fave hang out for all things audio and HT gear
- Shane
Actually Alex, the ones I saw at the store WERE bipoles. Guess I still keep your remarks in mind, no?
- Amani
Yep, bipoles are ok for music (although not to my tastes) but certainly not for home theater where localization of speakers is key. For the record the above speakers are not bipoles.
- Alex Scoble
Depends on the space. If its small bipoles aren't great, but for larger spaces bipoles work just fine in HT environment.
- jcunwired
jcunwired - what would you define as a larger space? Approximate size please! :)
- Amani
No, bipoles never work good in HT environments because you can't localize them, which is extremely important for home theater.
- Alex Scoble
Mythos are not bipolar! Only "BP" series are. I verified by checking spec's and review of the 5's, http://www.definitivetech.com/documen... "Mythos system has a slightly different sonic character than you might be used to, largely because the Mythos speakers feature a forward-radiating design, not a bipolar one."
- Shane
So those speaker manufacturers who make bipole surrounds are all doing it wrong? I'd say that's a bit of a stretch Alex.

My Cat Ate Something! I love my Nym, but no one said she is the brightest bulb. Today we went to the vet, because she was throwing up and not eating and acting a bit off. It hadn't been for long, but since the kitten had been sick I wanted her checked out. Nym's not sick, no she just ate something that is kinda stuck in her stomach. - ALL BETTER!!
She hasn't eaten now for around 30 hours. I think she wants to at least a little now, but she isn't allowed till tomorrow. We have pumped her full of fluids and are now waiting to see if she will pass it on her own. It's size is right on the edge of her being able to pass it herself, but we are crossing our fingers. She has been acting better this evening and I hope that means that it has passed into her intestines and is working its way out. We are keeping our fingers crossed

Thank you orionstarr. She is a beautiful tortoiseshell and she is very loving. Luckily she is currently not in any major risk, she just might have to have surgery or an endoscopy to get the thing out. I'm very sorry for you. I have lost very loved pets in my life, it is never ever easy. *hugs*
- Rachel Lea Fox
Oh silly cats :( I hope she is able to pass it without surgery. My brilliant cat somehow found ibuprofen and ate it. We got her to the emergency vet right away and one night in hospital and a thousand dollars or so later (eek) she was good as new. One of my cats seems to be sick right now and I need to take him in tomorrow if I can.
- joey
Gah! I'm glad your kitty was okay though. Gotta hate the expense, but its worth it. I hope your other kitty feels better soon. Being a kitty should exclude being sick. The point of being a pet kitty is to be loved and pampered and waited on by your people and basically just live the life of perfect bliss. That should not include getting sick or having surgery.
- Rachel Lea Fox
chaz2b, Thanks. She is much more active tonight than last night, so I'm hoping that is a good sign, though it could just be that all the fluids in her system are giving her a little boost, but I'm hoping it's a sign she is on the mend.
- Rachel Lea Fox
what a gorgeous girl! I hope she passes her illicit snack easily and is better soon!
- Bash
Well, Nym is all better! I had a theory as soon as the vet suggested there might be something stuck in her stomach, and a rather disgusting dig through Nym's poo this morning proved me right. Some of you may remember last week when I said that Nym LOVES when I crochet, if not it's here: http://friendfeed.com/kitteh... Well, never...

Yay for happy endings (and ewwwwwwwwwwww).

Tell me about it Stephen!! I am resisting adding TMI here... be happy about that too! ;)

oh, this is awesome. He's a friend of a friend, also involved in experimental photography, and he went to great detail explaining his technique (which, incidentally, I find is among just a handful of really innovative things in photography, lately)

I do not agree with the list, but number 10 is dead on
- RAPatton
OMG, the kids here LOVE that I give out only the Blue Razz Blow Pops. That's what we're known for. Well, that and the fog machine.
- Admiral Anika
I *LOVE* Blue Razz Blow Pops. Anika, where you live?
- Anna Haro
Krackle, for reals? No. I would say Snickers purely for resale/trade value. Blue Razz Blow Pops are amazing. They were such an aberration when they first hit the scene.
- Kendra <3 Three Lions
I love the Krackel or the Nestle's crunch and Reese's Peanut Butter anything is golden.
- Jason Toney
Krackel! haven't thought about those in ages...
- edythe
This list is so completely wrong I don't know where to begin. Except for number 10. Can't argue with that. My review: 1. meh 2. OK 3. huh? 4. meh 5. EW! DO NOT WANT. 6. OK 7. EW! MALT IS GROSS. 8. Yes! The only winner. 9. DOUBLE EW. People eat those things?
- Shannon Jiménez
I like Shannon's comment. Snickers and Blow pops are WIN! How is Krackel #1?

I shake down the local kids for their rockets. I could just go out and buy them but prefer them straight from a halloween collecting bag. ; )

"the LM5 concept is envisioned as a successor to the venerable McLaren F1. That means three seats across, with a central driving position. That means power provided by BMW's M division; a retuned version of company's soon-to-be-retired 5.0-liter V10 in this case. And of course, that means epic performance."

"One Laptop Per Child has developed a nice solution to power their devices in areas without electricity. They’ve attached a set of pedals to the OLPC hand crank which can power the computer as it’s being used."

I really can't see how they'd make that work. You really have to pedal a lot just to keep one incandescent bulb let. How can a human, short of Lance Armstrong, generate enough to keep a laptop going?
- Spidra Webster
I think it's gotta be a joke, too. You can generate some electricity by pedaling, of course, but unless you have an elaborate system to intensify the rpms, a human cannot generate enough electricity to power very much in a steady manner.
