This is what I call "half ply" toilet paper. I really wish the CEOs of the company that makes this stuff had to use it. It would be reformulated within a week.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
And I bet that half-ply TP is made from recycled 80-grit sandpaper, too!

You're right, David: I've seen lunch meat sliced this thin before, but never TP.

"For dusty Dobermans? Nooooo. These are surprisingly powerful and effective dinner-table cleaners, called "crumbers" in the restaurant biz, except these are little battery-operated vacuum cleaners inside extremely compelling creatures. They're all about 6" long x 2-1/4" tall, with a removable filter. You pick from the hot-pink, crumb-sucking piggy; the somnolent but hungry Holstein; or the winsome, although short-trunked, baby elephant. All run on a pair of "AA" batteries, and, unlike the real thing, you push a button and remove their heads to empty them."

Did two hours at the rink, though I'm only willing to claim 60-75 minutes of actual skating (rest of the time was spent massaging cramps, stretching, and hydrating). I realize now that it's a bit difficult to take pictures in the skating rink on a cell phone: my leg looks rather Hulk-like up there =/
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
foreshortening FTW! it looks like a nice leg to me. :)

Why I love my radio station: the current set includes Indigo Girls, Led Zeppelin, Earl Scruggs, Rolling Stones, and REM.
Will give it a listen, thnx. Hey no Twitter for you?
- ZuDfunck
Twitter doesn't particularly suit me: it's hard to me to follow conversations there. I like the way FF organizes things so I chill out here.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
As promised: something greasy for lunch. Bacon cheeseburger toaster, fries, and a Route 44 Diet Coke with cherry. NOM!
Unfortunately the nearest Sonic to my residence is at least 45m away... I miss having them everywhere when I was living in AZ.

We don't have Sonics either. I looked it up and considered going halfway to Vegas just to try it. And then I realized that was stupid. hahaha

Hint to getting started again with crunches: do 20, stretch, do 15, stretch, do 10, stretch, do 5. You've knocked out 50. If you start at 30 and work your way down you'll do 105.
was about to say the same thing geoff.. pushups also give the core muscles a good going over too :)
- alphaxion
I read this quick and thought you said "crutches" for a second.
- Rachel Lea Fox
via iPhone
Also: I can barely get out 20 standard pushups at this point anyways, decline pushups are not currently an option.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Geoff: any exercise is bad for some other part of your body if done in bad form. When doing crunches one must keep in mind that they're targeting their abs therefore keeping them engaged. Also if the abs are what one is strengthening, other forms of exercise should be emloyed targeting the surrounding muscles such as the obliques and even the glutes, in addition to targeting the different abdominal muscles (i.e., lower and upper).
- April Buchheit
via iPhone
I'll take pretty much any other damage over back damage if I am forced to choose.
- Geoff Schultz
Geoff, fwiw I did crunches all through my overactive youth and never once had a back issue. Knees, ankles, and wrists? All of 'em hurt. But never once an issue with my back. Like anything it's got to be slowly and with proper form (and with the knowledge that you have to work the opposing muscle group to keep strength balanced).
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
pushups instead of situps? Is today opposite day?
- Mauricio
"As it turns out, the exercises synonymous with strong, attractive abs may not be the best way to train your core—and may be doing damage to your back. " http://blog.newsweek.com/blogs...

yoga, cardio and eating right and i have a six pack...and i love walking around feeling like my core is strong, knowing my posture is good.

If I could ever properly maintain a blog (which we know I can't) I'm pretty sure I wouldn't blog about FF feature releases. The only people who read my blogs tend to already be on FF, so they'd already know about the features. The handful of other people who read 'em aren't on FF so they wouldn't care about the feature. Am I missing something?
I disagree, I've gotten quite a few people to join friendfeed after reading a post about new FF features
- Bwana
I'm going to go out on a limb, Bwana, and guess that your readership numbers are a little bit bigger than mine ever were ;-) Assuming a 5% conversion rate (generous), 5% of 1000 non-FFing readers is a lot more than 5% of 10 non-FFing readers.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Point taken. Although a vast majority of my viewers/readers don't use Twitter either. They barely use Facebook
- Bwana
It's noon in July and I'm happily sitting in the den with the back door wide open. This doesn't happen in the South, something must be up... ##AvoidingRealHashes ##EnjoyingMyDayOff
Yup. One of them keeps going to a bare patch in the yard, wallowing in the dirt, and then running into the house to get some food. I might have to shut the door if he keeps it up =/
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Ours would be doing something similar, but it's still early and they're still sleeping! Big surprise! :P
- Anne Bouey
Well, upon waking up this morning I've got some delayed onset muscle soreness after last night's practice. It's expected and really isn't that bad: it's not like I had to sit down and slide down the stairs or anything. The funny thing is that of course the parts of me that hurt when I skate (my feet and the tibialis anterior) don't hurt at all.
It's about as perfect as physically possible outside right now: 72F and breezy. If I felt like being productive it'd be great weather to work in the yard.
Alls I know is someone slipped the FF staff some crack or something, because they're shooting out updates today left and right. You all rock, 'nuff said =)
I'm trying to add the updates to a post I'm writing, but I'm pretty sure I'm missing some. I've only got themes, hashtags, and real-time search.

Best of Day lists may have just become obsolete ??!!
- Charlie Anzman
Wait, what are Best of Day Lists and how did they get obsoleted? And Tina is there a post on the current state of your Coccyx?
- Matthew DeVries
Yes Matthew, there is a coccyx update. Check my feed you slackard! And personally, I don't think the current BOD is obsolete: it's still nice and useful to see the BOD amongst the people you follow. It's just an added perk to see the BOD for one's lists (i.e. put all your favorite groups in a list and check their BOD every once in a while).
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
You're right Tina ... I'm just gettin' a little FF carried away tonight. Complete awesomeness ... again.
- Charlie Anzman
wait, what? How do I see BOD on a specific list. teach me, oh wise ones.
- Laura Norvig
Laura: go into your list and then scroll to the bottom of the page: you'll see a new link for BOD.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
aha, I didn't know that Tina. Thanks !
- Ahsan Ali
Keys to feeling human after 2 hours in the rink: a big ass bowl of cold cereal, a pot of decaf, a hot shower, and a lap full of cat. Oh, and some FriendFeed =)
Alright, I'm back from practice. I can't say it whooped my ass because I didn't actually fall on it. I learned how to do various forward falls and am quite good at them. I also kicked arse in the flexibility and strength training portions. So basically I am perfect for derby except I can't really skate all that well. Kinda funny, really....
I will say I actually did ok in the pack skating we did: ladies push you and whip you for momentum and that went quite well. It's like skating without aggravating my compression issues ;-)
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Tina, which name are you going to go with? Glad the practice went well.
- Stephen Mack
Well, everything I've come up with so far is taken (and the national league doesn't do dupes). But I think I've got one: Tina Beata (a play off a real life nick name).
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
What! Diva Dee Struction's gone? And Diva Station?
- Stephen Mack
It's too close to something else. Names with high similarities have a good chance of being rejected.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
ME TOO! I've been researching some crash pads just in case. And I'll be skating yet again tomorrow to try and get my wheel legs on me.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Glad that it went well! I think it's just so cool :D
- martha
Tiger Balm, you are my friend. A dear, dear, slightly intoxicatingly scented friend.
No, knee aches. Plus I'm massaging the muscles that tend to give me issues when I skate. I'm hoping I can keep them from cramping up with a little pre-emptive strike.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
i once rubbed that stuff on my lips thinking it was lip-balm. NEVER did that again..
- Simon Wicks
I have my kids convinced it helps with growing pains. I love the stuff.
- Heather Solos
Weirdness: one of my cats seems to really like the scent. He tried to lick it off my hands, which I'm pretty sure is NOT a good idea!
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Bye Boss, hope you have a good holiday too! *does happy three day weekend dance* And like yesterday, I just can't bring myself to leave before 4 even though it follows my 30 minute rule.
yeah baby. you know i like the rough stuff...hee hee

Subpar mac 'n' cheese makes me sad. It doesn't have to be baked mac to be tasty, but if it's not it should at least have some effort behind it #MacnCheeseSnob
I ran out of milk the other day but forgot I had when I started making mac and cheese. I used extra butter and water instead. It was subpar and yes, I was sad. :(
- Jandy
I had the *worst* mac& cheese from KFC a couple of months ago. They didn't even bother to completely mix up the orange, alleged-cheese powder into the macaroni.

I regret to inform ya that once ya have to go gluten free all the Mac & Cheese choices are god awful as far as we've found so far. My kingdom for Kraft Mac just one more time.
- Steve C
Steve: I've managed to make a pretty passable GF mac'n'cheese. Use the cheese sauce I've posted in my feed (sub cornstarch for flour) and mix in corn pasta. Another option: make a macaroni pie (aka baked mac'n'cheese, or macaroni casserole) using milk, tons of cheese, and corn pasta.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Boss has gone to run an errand. I'm thinking about dropping and doing some sit-ups on the sly while he's gone 'cause I'm a slackard who is SO not ready for derby core conditioning 3x per week. I miss my old self: sit-ups used to be a non-issue =(
You can always use one of them big excercise balls as a desk chair in the future. It helps abs alone and then you can lean back and do a few situps every once in a while too.
- Steve C
When I was younger I did them as a means of dealing with stress, several hundred a day. Now getting 50 is a stretch. I just have to get back in the habit...
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
It's Thursday, which means 1) It's the last work day before a long weekend and 2) I have my first all out derby practice tonight. I'm nervous...
Thanks, all =) No Qik from the G1, I still don't have cupcake (yeah, I know I could go grab it and DIY if I had to). Some of the riders from the Masonic riding group are going to show up since it's an open skate night. I'm going to be lucky if I can pay attention and not get distracted by the former Hell's Angel on wheels.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Sounds fun and great exercise ta boot. Last time I went skating I nearly died when getting reacquanted with gravity, she's a harsh mistress then I had a blast rolling around the ring
- Mark Essel
via iPhone
So far I've not fallen, which is surprising to anyone who has watched me skate. I'm going ask the coach if he'll review falls with me tonight so I can get past the fear of it: catching myself to keep from falling is part of what is aggravating my legs.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Are you allowed to wear wrist/palm braces? If so, I would fear nothing of gravity.
- Matthew DeVries
We are required to wear knee pads, elbow pads, wrist guards, and a helmet. None of that protects my tailbone though, and my body keeps trying to fall backwards. That's why I want to learn how to fall, so I can take advantage of the safety equipment.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Breast implants will be needed for front balast purposes then.
- Matthew DeVries
I'd have to get quadruple Es to balance the balast in the back. I'm better off just learning how to fall.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Tailbone protection and shin guards are allowed but not required. If I'm falling properly (knee slides, tumbles, etc) then the tailbone shouldn't really get near the floor.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Yeah, but that's just some coolass looking gear now. I'm going to wear one of those to go and get the mail and stuff.
- Matthew DeVries
Wow Matthew is right tailbone protection has really changed! Those are awesome
- martha
LOL! The ladies on the team thought it was awesome that I rode of Dave's bike, and I joked with them that I could wear my kevlar lined jeans and armor plated mesh jacket for derbies. The jeans have kevlar on the knees and butt, and the jacket has tailbone padding built right in.

"We're thinking Johnny Depp here. A nice black canvas shoulder bag, 12-1/2" x 12" x 3" with an adjustable strap, two buckled closures, and the traditional skull and crossbones in white on the front flap. "Absolutely incredible device! The Mirage®, a precision optical instrument, creates three-dimensional images of objects of your choice where there is nothing. Drop pennies, keys or similar small objects (your sister won't fit) into the 2-3/8" dia opening of this 9" dia x 3" high flying-saucer-shaped disc, and a perfect image of the object will appear floating above it. The image is so real friends will try to grasp it, but their fingers will close on thin air! Use it as a high-tech centerpiece with a flower as the object! A booklet (included) explains the magic. New coating provides protection for the mirror surfaces. Highly recommended. Made in the USA."

I found one of these growing in the part of my flower garden that has California Poppies. It's a US native and I think it's cute as a button (looks great with the orange and yellow poppies), but apparently it's also considered a 'weed'. Meh, I still like it. I'm seriously debating about turning the front half of that flower bed into a mini-prairie...

The test areas all look good (or bad, as the case may be), so now I've just got to figure out which method will be the lesser pain in the arse to implement. If I could find a heat resistant sprayer of some sort, I think I'd be golden.
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
After looking a bit, a heat resistant sprayer may not be within the realm of possibility. I wonder if a turkey baster would work...
- FFing Enigma (aka Tina)
Very pretty flower. As long as it's not taking over, it's probably fine.

All the things taking over in my yard are non-native plants. I'd be ok if the natives took over: they tend to be a bit more self-regulating!

I'm watching Animal Planet and the show is about parasites. I've always had a small latent fear of catching worms, so I'm not exactly sure how this seemed like a good idea.
I'd be hiding under the couch. And cringing. With my fingers in my ears yelling "LA LA LA LA CAN'T HEAR YOU". With a stopwatch set to make sure that I keep at it for an hour, just in case it's a longer show.

Friday night we're going to a moonshine tasting. Yeah, I'll try to get some pics... I've had the apple pie shine this gent makes and it's evil good. Emphasis on the evil.
This dude I used to work with in NY got this wicked Blackberry moonshine from his hometown in NC. The stuff was SOOOO smooth & strong at the same time. It was like candy with a kick.
- Sean McGee
Me either, Scott! Actually, it's being called a T&A part: Taste and Acquire. We've got a quart of the apple pie shine reserved: imagine super strong vodka that tastes like apple pie filling with liquored up apple slices floating around in it. We'll see if we like anything else...
