Spending time cleaning up my Google Reader after Feedly crapped all over it. Thanks, Feedly!
Have you tried Toluu? Excellent for sorting out your Feeds - Joe Dawson
I use Toluu, but feedly injected about 100 feeds directly into my Google Reader (Toluu doesn't know about them) without warning or permission from me. I don't know why someone would think that's okay. - Mark Trapp
Yes, Feedly basically destroyed my feed subscriptions. I had to erase everything and restore from the OPML - Todd Mundt
Looks like Edwin is working on an "uninstall" feature: http://friendfeed.com/e... I'd argue that he shouldn't be using my services as his application's storage space. - Mark Trapp
I agree, Mark. - Vince DeGeorge
I am steering clear of Feedly after reading your comments - Joe Dawson
same for me, mark! - Alessandro
I need to gp back and see if I missed some notification about how Feedly would intrude on other apps. Not a good thing. - Todd Mundt
I'm about to try it, any good practises beside backing up the OPML? - Dobromir Hadzhiev
Dobromir - yes, back up your OPML. I haven't seen damage in my other apps. Interesting app, but be careful :) - Todd Mundt
Dobromir, you probably can minimize the amount of feed additions to your opml by not using any of the social features it asks you about at the beginning. For every friend it found, it subscribed me to their feed (in addition to a few dozen feeds it just happened to recommend). - Mark Trapp
thanks, Mark! I'll remove the social features - Todd Mundt
thanks guys, I'd hate to spent more time fixing things than enjoying the service - Dobromir Hadzhiev
I'm beginning to wonder if the feed injection was even necessary. I removed all the feedly feeds from Google Reader, and fired up Feedly again. Lost all my contacts, but things like Save for Later, Recommend, No thanks all work and are no longer putting stuff in my OPML file. - Mark Trapp
Yeah, looks like the feed injection is for the social features. Why is this a local chrome application? This makes so much more sense as a SaaS. - Mark Trapp
I like Toluu as well. What is the big deal with Feedly adding feeds to your g-reader? Seem pretty simple to delete. - Mathew A. Koeneker
Think I'll skip it, too. - David Risley
Matthew, it makes using Google Reader and Feedly side-by-side a chore. I shouldn't have to stop using my software of choice to use someone else's, especially when the new software is what is preventing me from using the old. Yes, it's relatively straightforward to remove all the crap Feedly puts into Google Reader, but it wasn't Feedly's to touch. Leave my Google Reader alone! - Mark Trapp
What Feedly does with feeds is like if Friendfeed automatically subscribed to every friend-of-friend, and automatically subscribed your Twitter and Facebook accounts to all the people you're following in Friendfeed. - Mark Trapp
...and, if you add netvibes, it subscribes every feed in netvibes also in your google reader - Alessandro
I can see your pov Mark. Yet, I am still out in limbo whether that in and of itself is bad thing for me. I like the "noise". - Mathew A. Koeneker
Thanks Mark, I think you've saved me a ton of time and trouble. - Dewald Pretorius
Matthew, I'm very much a fan of noise as well, but I like to be in the driver's seat. For example, I don't just import my feeds into Google Reader, I import them via Toluu. Feedly circumvents that; which is something i'd be okay with (I just wouldn't use Feedly to subscribe to feeds), but it automatically subscribed to a bunch of feeds. I think I'd be okay with Feedly if it just left people discovery as simply that: discovery. - Mark Trapp
what dewald says goes for me, too. I don't want anything touching my Reader account like that. - felix
Find my people, find recommendations, but let ME make the commitment in how I want to subscribe to them. Yeah, I want to know what Louis Gray is reading, but I don't want to subscribe to his shared google feed, I want to get a sample of what he's reading and subscribe to specific blogs, out of his recommendations, that are interesting to me. I think I'm describing Toluu: they really got it right in terms of social feed reading. - Mark Trapp
I agree Mark, just logged in to my G Reader, it's a MESS! I never asked for everyone i subscribe to on FF for there "recommendations" to be added to my reader. - Mike Fruchter
I will stick with Toluu and G Reader. Now i must clean out my G Reader, Thanks Feedly. - Mike Fruchter
I would say it wouldn't be a big deal, except that GReader's subscription/folder/tag management sucks! - Tim Hoeck
Dude, I can't believe it did this to my feeds. Ugh. - Aaron Myers
Ok then, anyone have a Toluu invite? - David McDonald
David post your email, i will get one to you. - Mike Fruchter
@everyone we hear you loud and clear. We are going to try to get in two changes in the next couple of days: we will move the warning about feedly creating tags and integrating with google reader from the first run page to the welcome wizard and we will create an goodbye page which automatically undoes all the changes made by the welcome wizard. http://getsatisfaction.com/feedly... let me know if there is anything else you would like to be changed to avoid the anger - Edwin Khodabakchian
fixed. feedly has now a better msg and automated-undo http://edwink.devhd.com/2008... - Edwin Khodabakchian
Thanks Edwin. Glad to see the quick response to get this fixed. - Mark Trapp
