So I wrote before about our experiences with the Hillsboro Glenn and Viola Walters Cultural Arts Center before here http://friendfeed.com/e...

Why did we do this? One: The venue just didn't have enough space. We are looking at a guest list of 180 and growing. The Hillsboro Cultural Arts Center only really seats 135 comfortably.
- Alex Scoble
Two: The staff were very unhelpful with requests such as whether we could seat 10 guests to a table instead of 8 or get different chairs in. Not just unhelpful, but rude at times.
- Alex Scoble
Three: Cost. The new venue is cheaper AND comes with more services (wedding planner, tables, chairs, cake cutting are all included at the new venue for LESS cost)
- Alex Scoble
Four: The insurance requirements at the Hillsboro Cultural Arts Center are ridiculous. You basically have to get an insurance rider stating that you are libel for any damage to the city block around the Hillsboro Cultural Arts Center. New venue has their own insurance.
- Alex Scoble
For these reasons we are walking away from our $250 deposit (although by law they must return it if they rebook the venue for our date) and away from the Hillsboro Cultural Arts Center
- Alex Scoble
Oh I forgot the number 5 reason: Hillsboro Cultural Arts Center does not offer cleanup services. If we had gone with them we would have been responsible for cleaning the venue after the wedding or paying them the $200 cleaning deposit. Cleanup is included with the new venue.

And did I mention that the new venue has a door greeter as part of the package?
- Alex Scoble
But where's the actual wedding going to be??
- Dawn
Hey Dawn. Same place as the reception. We don't see the point in spending $1000 in renting a church for 20 minutes.
- Alex Scoble
Ha! I could, since I live in Hillsboro. But then again, none of my friends smoke.
- Dawn
Alex, then why are you calling it "reception" instead of "wedding"???
- Dawn
Because originally we were doing the reception at Hillsboro Cultural Arts Center and the wedding elsewhere and now doing both at one place. That's where the confusion is coming from.
- Alex Scoble
Cool. Looks like a nice place. Have fun! And, Chris, this is Portland...better strategy to tax beer. :)
- Dawn
Unfortunately, Cassie won't let me do anything like either of those ideas.

I refuse to attend unless it's at the Beaverton Burger King......
