ially this appears little more than a repeat of many similar experiments in the past decade from publishers who thought readers wanted an analogue experience online and commissioned disproportionately expensive technologies that allowed you to ‘turn the page’ on-screen

All the magazine's content will be available free on the site, but subscribers will be offered a different experience in an attempt to provide "a special privilege for print subscribers," Roger Neal, general manager of BusinessWeek.com, told MediaWeek. Users will get other benefits such as instant access to print content online. The relaunch will also consolidate the weekly magazine's many channels into three, focused on breaking news, analysis and community. The latter will include BusinessExchange, the site's recently created business social net. The redesign reflects the magazine's attempts to appropriately differentiate online from print, with the site emphasising breaking news and community and the print product focussing on 'forward-looking' stories. Neal said that underlying the changes is a new tech platform designed to enable real-time site updates.

Maximize your brand elsewhere.Andraz Tori, CTO of Zemanta, noted that not all media is monetizable. He believes that the consolidation of content and the creation of content via crowd-sourcing (e.g. Wikipedia) will ultimately drive the price of content to nothing. (Although some publishers will be able to charge for content, the way that D&B can still charge $10,000+ for profile reports on private companies). By spending time on in-depth content creation, you build your brand, allowing you to extend that brand to conferences, report sales, etc.
