"Late last year the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art (SMoCA) invited architects to determine what ideas they had for urban farming, live/work, revitalization of strip malls in Scottsdale, Phoenix and Tempe." Nice TreeHugger piece goes on to describe winning entries. - Ian Wilker

Great resource -- I certainly appreciate being able to cite chapter/verse in debunking the garbage propagated by global warming deniers. It never seems to die, but still it has to be contested when encountered. - Ian Wilker

Supercool simple scheduling and group decision-making. "Doodle helps finding suitable dates for group events, e.g., an appointment, a conference call, a family reunion, etc. Doodle is particularly useful to people who do not use a common calendar. In addition to scheduling events, Doodle also supports polls in general. That is, groups can conveniently decide on options other than dates: the movie for the next movie night, the logo of the new Web site, the restaurant for the Christmas dinner, etc. Doodle is a Web-based service which is free, requires no registration and no software installation. - Ian Wilker

From the page: "The EPA is under a court order to issue an updated standard for lead in the air by this Wednesday, October 15th. The current standard was set 30 years ago, and would be a joke except that it leaves so many kids vulnerable to lead poisoning and lets about 16,000 lead polluters continue to contaminate our air.... The battery industry had a closed-door meeting with the White House in early October [and it seems entirely possible that the Bush administration will scuttle this update to the lead standard]." - Ian Wilker

"Site Specific Browsers (SSBs) provide a great solution for your WebApp woes. Using Fluid, you can create SSBs to run each of your favorite WebApps as a separate Cocoa desktop application. Fluid gives any WebApp a home on your Mac OS X desktop complete with Dock icon, standard menu bar, logical separation from your other web browsing activity, and many, many other goodies." - Ian Wilker

Feedly's "goal? To bring a new, graphical, view of feeds, via Google Reader, and add multiple social layers on top of what's already recognized as the world's most-popular online RSS engine." Looks really promising - Ian Wilker

Much potential -- sort of "threadless.com meets adbusters." Sinks or swims with the quality of users' submissions, and I haven't had time to more than glance at a few submissions. - Ian Wilker

Well, this is certainly a good way to go viral -- make a BIG ASS list that everyone wants to be on. This site appears to be milking this trick for all its work. That said, it does collect a lot of good stuff. From the page: "This guide will help you navigate the vast array of environmental websites starting with the best green blogs, tools, applications and resources and ending with forums, social media sites, environmental agencies and organizations." - Ian Wilker

"if you’ve never traversed along the road to viral content, where can you get started? What is makes good viral content? I’ve talked briefly about great lists. I’ve talked about videos. I’ve talked about pictures. Now I’m going to talk a bit more about six solid foundations upon which you can build viral content and I’ll illustrate how they’re used in today’s social media." - Ian Wilker

Brogan on what's worked for him -- he *thinks*, anway. Great quote: "You know how that is, right? I’m wiggling this knob and at the same time, someone is pushing a button. Did the knob-wiggle do the trick or did the button push do it?" - Ian Wilker
