Glare issues? Get a real matte screen or live with it. Aftermarket "matte screens" aren't worth it and mucks-up the screen than help.

Protection of the iPad body OTOH is still a must for the fact aluminum is malleable and you don't want a dented iPad.

I'm publicly speaking out against "anti-glare" screen protectors. They really make reading difficult contrary to the claims of glare.
