I'll say it again: That is Ben Folds. I can tell by the voice alone, but heck, anybody should be able to tell by simply comparing a picture of the guy to it. The YouTube user claiming otherwise is lying.

John Ellis, a theorist at CERN, says whatever is revealed will be very exciting. "It'll be a little bit like watching somebody appear out of the fog. You're walking along through the fog, and then somebody comes out of the fog and you start picking out various aspects of them. And eventually you come face to face with the new physics. It's going to be very exciting."

This is my job. Working to make sure that WCFs look good enough for communities like PV. Several years ago, working a site in Beverly Hills, there was a woman who showed up to the zoning meetings to complain about the "blight". My husband went on her property and took photos of the proposed site. Problem: She wouldn't be able to see it at all. The city approved the site. I know where it is, and when I drive by, I *still* have to look for it.
- Anika
Oh, but one thing that kills me about places like PV is when I'm out shooting photos and people ask me why. When I tell them it's for a proposed WCF, they *always* balk. Then I point out to them the other 2 - 5 towers within sight and ask them why they don't mind that blight.
- Anika
I wish I had been in the courtroom to hear the pro and con arguments from the lawyers. So many issues involved. I have no "dog in the fight", don't live there. I know my cell phone has many dead spots when I am in the neighborhood.

The reforms being debated in Congress are about insurance. They are attempts to fix the access problem. They do this through a variety of mechanisms, including requiring coverage for preexisting conditions, providing subsidies, creating mandates, and creating insurance pools. These are all good, but none of them in any serious way begins to address the most critical driver of rising costs: a provider payment system built on a "the-more-you-do-the-more-you-get-paid" incentive system. Fee-for-service medicine "Bending the cost curve" requires us to reform, not the way we are insured, but the way we pay providers. We may not yet know the best way to do this, but we know the fundamental thing that must be done: End fee-for-service medicine. Providers must be paid in a way that rewards good care, not more care. The most straightforward way to do this is to pay providers with a salary, allowing bonuses based on quality measures, but not on incentives to do more or to do less. The confusion...

One of the most vile foods I've ever tasted was durian (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki...): "Chef Andrew Zimmern compares the taste to "completely rotten, mushy onions." I do like FF and use it almost every day. Wouldn't it be great if FB either left it alone so we can continue to use it as "professionals," or somehow incorporate it into a more "mature" version of FB that didn't have all the annoying, time-wasting apps, games, etc. I'd much prefer a totally customizable FF "wall."

@robert yes they (we will) stay here, I think tat the migration process will take time and after reading @Paul Bucheit, I think that what we all are trying to get even if we don't say it explicitly is to preserve a kind of intimacy (beeing a part of the Huge faceBook community) don't mean that FF community will preserve their intimacy, why should a community be a plan one, (let imagine a community as a set of sub-community) that all.

@Robert RE "I have enough noise in my life. I don't need to have more" - isn't it a lot of noise having 26K subscriptions and 46K subscribers on your frf account? I'm kind of surprised - you create a community that large around yourself, yet when you see a new and unusual activity you just block it right away.
- милый мой дружочек
@Robert, patience? Who's talking about patience? It's about curiosity, not patience. When something strange and unusual happens around you, you can either try to stop it or try to see what it can develop into. You choose to stop - and it stopped. Well, not stopped - just moved to some other place. And do you really know what it was and what it was about to bring you?

@bdlangam From my perspective the #1 tip in this category is: Explore and define "best use" for yourself. Despite potential "finishing" impression of some productive consolidations in this collective-collaborative cognition space, the emergent #cognosphere is still WAY too nascent to assert anything other than initial impressions. March to the beat of your own drum; build your own...

I'm a photographer, so I'm not judging those who like to make pictures. But it really stuns me how few people these days are interested in the direct experience of anything. Stop; take picture; move on. Sad.
Sat next to a guy at the football match this weekend that fiddled with his camera the whole time. I know he'll have good pictures, but he barely noticed when our team scored a goal.
- Jennifer Dittrich
I like both experiences, but what I love the most is being able blend the enjoyment with the real-time capture. I use my iPhone for those moments, don't even bother bringing the Nikon. or the point and shoot.
- Karoli
There are many experiences that don't interest me in the slightest if I *don't* have a camera. A lot of that is because of my eyes... I don't see detail in things unless I get up close and really stare, so I miss lots of stuff. With a camera, I can go back and see all the stuff I missed.
- Roger Benningfield
Sorry but these types don't strike me as the particularly enlightened. It's like, do you actually want to be here now, to see here - or do you just want to show other people that you were?
- Anthony Citrano
from BuddyFeed
Beyond that, as far as I'm concerned, if more people are enjoying the act of creation and not passively ingesting everything, that's a good thing.
- Roger Benningfield
I know where you are coming from. I watched a load of tourists pile out of their bus & stand in front of the Rockefeller Centre, picture taken, back in the bus and presumably to the next must-see spot.
- Mel Buckpitt
Roger: very good points - thanks - but I'm talking more about the types Mel just described.
- Anthony Citrano
from BuddyFeed
I go to various places a lot just to take photos, especially touristy places because I like to watch people and see what catches *their* eye. Anyone watching me, could probably jump to the same conclusion, that I'm not enjoying the experience. But they would be assuming that I'm a tourist, that I don't live in the city or that I haven't been to that place 8 times already that year.
- Anika
I find taking pictures makes me look and examine more rather than less -- but we all work differently I guess. Usually if I am with people they comment on pictures later wondering if they were in the same place at the same time. Maybe it is the bus tour personality that is the problem -- not the camera/pictures.
- Brian Sullivan
The first time I went to Europe, I didn't bring a Camera. I wanted to remember everything, on my own, without thinking about taking a picture. There were a few times that I wish I had brought one, but overall, I don't regret my decision.
- Michael Fidler
I guess I have gotten spoiled with My Fuji DSLR, but why would you want to rely on a camera phone to record your images with? I could see if something happens suddenly and you don't have a choice, but if you have a nice camera, you'd rather use the phone camera?
- Brent - Yes I am
I actually find that my approach to photography slows me down, forces me to look much longer at my subject than I would otherwise. Sometimes much to the irritation of my companions.
- Jason Wehmhoener
I think you have just defined the difference between a photographer and a "point and shooter". Two entirely different experiences. Both are fine with me. I think a professional photographer is one that tries to "experience" the colors, moods, etc. of the environment. A non professional has to depend on luck to capture that.
- Jack DeWitt Smith
I am a hybrid between the point-and-shoot-and-leave type and the look-around-and-explore type. I'll go on a 10k hike or bike ride, but I will also take my camera and load the hell up on pictures throughout the adventure.
