"Glad you got the photos. It was a pleasure meeting your dad. He seemed determined to prove to the grandkids that he could make it to Maine."

"I take a 6 year old Sony Cybershot 5 megapixel camera that can do short videos as well. I don't take the nice cameras because they'd probably get destroyed. In fact, coming down Blood Mountain, I dropped the camera and watched it fall about 10 feet, bouncing off of rocks and finally landing in the mud. I wiped it off and continued using it the rest of the trip."

"They've never given me any problems. I can remember them as far back as I can remember. And they're the same too, cause one looks like a doughnut. I always get hungry when it shows up. I've never had any problems but when they showed up tonight, I finally thought I'd see what it was about. You'd think I would have cared to check sometime before now."

"Yes, the shoes are GoLite Spike Tail II. I have been using the men's GoLite Spike Tail II and love them, so when I found a place that had the womens version on sale for $30 (normally $120), I grabbed a pair. They have the mens shoe on sale for $30 as well, but not in my size. If they had it, I would have gotten another pair. Highly recommended."

"They said "Can you believe someone actually made a bluegrass version of Linkin Park's song Crawling?", but it sounded more like "Lioewaj jowouque qpoetu wotoiuwe ow ouieu.""

"Have you tried wrapping something like a dish towel around it, then trying again? That will sometimes give you enough grip to break the death hold. If not, just use your hammer from the toolbox and beat the crap out of it."

"Nah. Not since I've been on crutches. I did once see a pallbearer in a wheelchair, though! Yes, I'm serious. He didn't pull his weight."

"I listened this morning. It's crazy hearing someone talk about my misfortune. Hopefully it's something that someone can learn from. If not, at least maybe someone can get a laugh at the situation."

"I would have volunteered to stay home with Butch had I known that was an option. The way they kept kicking my hurt leg, profusely sweating all over me and standing on my foot, I don't think I was welcomed there either."

"Thanks for the comment. As you can appreciate, I can't wait to get back out there hiking. It looks like we'll still go to Disney the week we've planned and just make the best out of it wherever I am in recovery."

"Speaking of which, while tubing Monday, a snake swam right up to Braden's tube and wanted to get in. Braden didn't panic, he just calmly told me so I could go get it away. Becki on the other hand..."

"The only snake we saw was one Braden and I got to touch (Becki and Peyton were as far away from it as they could get). It was about a 6 foot rat snake they used for education purposes. Just for the sake of full disclosure, we saw two dead in Kentwood. I saw one (really close to my foot) while fishing Sunday afternoon, and earlier today I did see a rattlesnake. Just so you know..."
