Thank goodness! If you continue to hang out on Twitter, you should import your Twitter feed into Facebook so you're FB friends can see and comment on what you say. Click down arrow at top of your Profile tabs to import the RSS feed.

Heh, I wrote that via the FriendFeed app (nicely embedded) in Facebook, and told FriendFeed to also send it as an @reply tweet.
- James E. Lee
This is spot-on, and is part of why I used to hang out on FriendFeed (pre-Facebook) even though I'm a staunch advocate of feed readers and the fact that they standardize the look & feel of everything. As good as it is, even my preferred Google Reader doesn't do as job as FriendFeed of enriching the rich content. I now read FriendFeed via the Facebook app. I wonder why Dave W. doesn't just microblog on Facebook. Almost everyone I know is there, and I don't have to sell the idea or explain it to them. So I've started to hang out, microblog, and route stuff that I want to share through FB. With as much as it can import & do, I'm starting to question the need for FriendFeed. Apropos the unknown stuff about FF, I wonder if Dave W. will see this comment? Would he have if I'd written it upon sharing in Google Reader? Or written it on Facebook?
- James E. Lee
I found one thing about FriendFeed that's better than direct import to Facebook: I have a separate tab on my FB profile for my FriendFeed. This prevents my FB Wall from being too noisy, which it would be if I routed all the stuff to it that I currently bring together with FriendFeed. This is important because unless my FB friends choose to "See less about James", they probably see everything that gets posted to my Wall. I don't see an obvious way to make an arbitrary Tab on FB.

There's way too much aggregation of things going on, and I'm not even a heavy user of all of the services. Between Facebook, Delicious, Twitter, and FriendFeed, not to mention blogs and emailed links, it's already getting to be too much.
- Greg Haverkamp
I agree! I like all this stuff, but it's all trying so hard to inter-operate and connect that sometimes even I get confused! Heh, ironically, I'm posting this comment via the Facebook FriendFeed app, which I have to say, does work pretty nicely. I make my publicly-visible FriendFeed available on my Facebook profile, and read my view of it via the app. It would be nice to have metrics on how many people - if any - actually look at the FriendFeed tab on my Facebook profile...

Yahoo! Mail uses DomainKeys to combat phishing. Simply put, DomainKeys is a technology that helps fight against email forgery. It verifies that messages are really from the domain they claim to be from (and that they haven't been altered during the sending process). Yahoo! Mail does all the verification legwork. Look for the DomainKeys icon in messages to see if the senders have been verified.
- James E. Lee
DKIM is intended as a value-added feature for email. Mail that is not signed by DKIM is handled in the same way as it was before DKIM was defined. The message will be evaluated by established analysis and filtering techniques. (A signing policy may provide additional information for that analysis and filtering.) Over time, widespread DKIM adoption could permit more strict handling of messages that are not signed. However early benefits do not require this and probably do not warrant this. DKIM's capabilities have a narrow scope. It is an enabling technology, intended for use in the larger context of determining message legitimacy. This larger context is complex, so it is easy to assume that a component like DKIM, which actually provides only a limited service, instead satisfies the broader set of requirements.
- James E. Lee
DomainKeys Identified Mail (DKIM) lets an organization take responsibility for a message while it is in transit. The organization is a handler of the message, either as its originator or as an intermediary. Their reputation is the basis for evaluating whether to trust the message for delivery. Technically DKIM provides a method for validating a domain name identity that is associated with a message through cryptographic authentication.

Interview with Dropbox Founder Drew Houston 1) The first obvious question - what makes Dropbox different from the other online backup / storage solutions? Drew: Unlike other companies, which tackle only backup (e.g. Mozy), or only sync (e.g. Foldershare), or just putting files online (e.g. box.net), we provide one solution to all of the problems people have managing their files. I was looking for some kind of continuous rsync + subversion + tortoisesvn-style-shell-integration + web access holy grail, found it didn’t exist, and then got to work..

Each parking provider chooses the dates to make their space(s) available and the price to charge. GottaPark then allows you to search through the list of available spots for the dates you are interested in and select the one that best suits your needs.
- James E. Lee
And as is the case with many third-person action game cameras, getting in a smaller space means claustrophobic camera angles that cause you to lose perspective of the bigger picture. This is more of a problem here than in most games, though, because Force Unleashed chooses a target not based on the direction the player is facing via the camera, but which direction Starkiller is facing. [This is what I disliked when playing the demo. It's not as bad as in Army of Two, but I really don't care for this approach to video games. I wish they'd made it a real FPS, or taken a page from GRAW]

Wasn't there a time when the beta had a text input box at the top? I like the options to post different content, but there's something very conducive to flow in being able to just start typing in an input field. I know the input box comes up very fast, but it's not quite the same feel.
I think some people (myself included) dumbly used it as a search box, unintentionally - selecting content type prevents that...
- Christopher Galtenberg
IIRC, there was some greyed-out text in the box that said "post message" or something. If I don't remember correctly, that might be a solution. In any case, it is a tiny bit smoother to not have to select or click anything.
- James E. Lee
I'd like there to be a small input field to the right of "Post:" with tabindex=1 that will expand if you just start typing. Alternatively, an accesskey for posting would be nice. The links are probably good cues for new users. i'm fine with them as long as there's a fast option for experienced users.
- ·[▪_▪]·
Yah, a large number of people posted messages when they were intending to search. It was a big (and sometimes embarrassing) enough issue, we switched to links.
- Bret Taylor
I never had that problem. What was confusing was that after a search the top input box was turning into the search box, instead of staying as before. It was consistency issue.

I really like right-hand nav. Is it possible to make it an option? I know it's a pain, and it's not that big of a deal, but it would be very nice. I'd love to hear some elaboration on the reasoning that putting nave on the left helps people with wide screens...
Yes. Please, please, please move it back to the right. On the left, it interferes with the flow of reading the feeds. I have wide screens and i prefer the right. At the very least, give me the option. I'm going back back to using standard, non-beta. It's driving me nuts.
- ·[▪_▪]·
agreed. my mouse is on the right of hte keyboard, tends to stay on the right of the screen. left is out of the way.
- mjc
Exactly. Windows are resizable as I recall, so the wide-screen argument seems unusual.
- Jack Baty
I don't have a widescreen but I like the left size nav better... just my 2 cents :)
- Andre
Yes *please* put the navigation back on the right. My mouse stays to the right and, seeing the nav bar everytime I go to read an entry is awful. Can't it be an option or something?
- Candace
This may not actually be the case, but right-hand nav seems more ergonomically correct for right-handed people, since we probably don't have to move the mouse as far to cross the screen. I'll be the first to say I've done zero research into this, I'm just saying how it feels. Also, I think its faster to scan content when that's the first thing on the left.
- James E. Lee
An option for this would be a good solution for all of us.
- Waldemar Schott
I agree, an option is needed. Personally, nav should _not_ be on the left for left-to-right reading. The most important aspect of friendfeed is the content, not the menu. To reach the menu now, the mouse has to cross the content, which is distracting not to mention requiring farther to travel (notice where your mouse hovers when you scroll the page, likely to the right of the content).
- ·[▪_▪]·
It's weird because the content doesn't go all the way over to the right so I have all this sort of unneeded whitespace on the right.
- Brandon Titus
i also like the navigation sidebar on the right because i get to read more text on the left hand side without always having to slide my browser window if the navbar was on the left
- imabonehead
Yes, please. Move it back to the right or at least make it an option. It gets in the way as is. Also, as you go further down the page their is all this wasted space on the left.
- Nesta Campbell
I don't like the way the sidebar looks either. Now you can't expand the rooms list and you don't have the services icons from your feed.
- Alejandro
I liked it a lot better on the right, too. I was totally digging the layout before. Too bad it changed.
- Cassandra
I do love the new posting options, though (eg. photos, link.)
